      I mean as long as you play your cards perfectly you can land them. Got a 5 ft (idk like 80 pounds or some shit) bull shark on 20 pound leader. Sure I had to chase it but still

    Hey man! Awesome stuff youre putting out. Noticed you were praying it wouldnt come off- try a faster action rod. It really significantly helps hooks to set in when you actually set the hook. Huge upgrade. That and a hook sharpener and youll be dandy. Not that you arent!!

    So i call bullshit on this gar hookup being unexpected. 1. Spotted gar tend to school. 2. He stated “don’t let this one come off”. 3. He likely had hooked a gar and lost it in general hookup area. As gar are definitely known for throwing hooks, cutting leaders

    This spot looks amazing. I catch them in rivers here in Kansas You really got to set the hook good because their snout is straight bone. They are super fun to catch even the small ones put up a good fight. I caught one that was like 3 feet long. They feel really cool too.

      @@joshrobinson6785 I lived in Manhattan for a while and Rocky Ford fishing area was my go to place. Loved it. Walleye, gar, bass, drum, carp. If it’s in Kansas it’s in there. Also a few brown trout and striped bass too

    That's a tiny long nose gar. Not prehistoric, it's a juvenile. I've caught longnose gar that are 10 times that size. A bunch of them. They are very common. VERY common!

    Don’t know if that’s a different species but that’s by no means big in fact that’s a baby compared to the ones I’ve seen in Texas and if you go all the way south near the rio grande river there’s like 5 foot ones and often they keep the skull and hang them on fences(If seen skulls bigger than the fish he caught)

    It’s always exciting and scary when you hook a fish you weren’t expecting to catch. Especially when you don’t have the proper equipment, that’s a good way to lose lures.

      meh 240 million years for Gar Vs. bass who only evolved around 26 million years and carp about 6 million years ago. In perspective they're both relatively young in our history compared to Gar.

      @@SSHitMan nah it's a pretty accurate description if you asked anyone in the community of paleontology they would agree with that. I've seen millions of year old fossils of an animal I've gone out and caught and that feels pretty prehistoric to me! They are unique in nature for their unique adaptations that they use to endure even being preyed on by, and preying on the dinosaurs!! The concept alone is just mind blowing!!!

      @@feralcrow4342 Again, my issue is with the word "prehistoric". It literally means "before there is written history" and this varies from place to place in the world. For someplace like the midwest USA, for example, the year 1500 is "prehistoric" because there are no written records from that era in that location.

    😂 240 million years is longer than Tyrannosaurus who lived around 90 to 65 million years ago. In perspective their ancient to even dinosaurs. Bowfin too, which they're distantly related to. They've been around for over 150 million years. They lived in the time of armor with phytosaurs and Protorosaurus which name literally means "First Lizard,".They are a living prehistoric sole living lineage of their family and underrated entirely!!

    Sometimes i call longnose gars needle nose but i was out in lake texoma damn i was out there since 4:00 only caught 3 carp and 1 small sand bass none was keepers we were bout to leave my lost cast i call this needle nose gar we didn’t keep him we couldn’t keep him in the boat next morning we go get some shad then we cast in a spot that either a catfish or a sandbass would be or just a snake then i casted other side of the boat and caught a fricking huge catfish it was a 12 pound blue cat then the rest of the day we caught normal striper i call a 9 pounder striper thats it last*

    It's a alligator gar!! we had one that got 12"long and we bought it at a pet store fish city in Akron Ohio they grows fast😊..but will eat anything in your tank that could fit in it's mouth 😩

      The rod is a medium light abu garcia vendetta, the reel is a favorite sick stick 2000. I recommend the rod, not so much the reel, it looks good but the drag is clunky.

      Fossils of modern gar trace back 157 million years to the Jurassic period. They are definitely prehistoric. Do some research next time.

    I catch these along those car spotted car and alligator gar where I fish at they're all in there and tomorrow morning I'm going to try and see if I can't get a monster alligator gar which I've had before but it's gotten off. Now I've got bigger hooks which the hooks I was using were too big there were for my saltwater rig. So I stepped down a size on the hooks a little bit and beefed up my rod to a heavy rod and my saltwater reel with 80 lb test Beyond braid on there this thing will pull in a freaking car if not a bus. I'm hoping it's a bus I hook into a nice size midsize car would be nice too meaning the size of the fish. I just wish I had somebody to help me pull it up out of the water. This is going to be somewhat fun to find out. I got rope and I got my gaff.
