the skit about Preach explaining Lightwell to Ghost had me rolling because it reminds me exactly of a discussion on the exact same topic I had to a mate of mine.
I remember macroing in a /yell and asking for raid lead so i could do a /raid warning "CLICK THE LIGHTWELL" only to check my healing meters at the end and see it had been clicked prehaps once or twice all fight. "Wasnt near it mate"... standard
tbh though.... you don't need to be a YT content creator to recognise that this line of Preacher videos take a LOT a metric fuck TON of work going into them. Not to speak of the fact that with each passing year or expansion rather, the legacy gets longer and more to be told etc etc etc

@@Noriaela I haven't delved personally into it and this was a while ago but from what I was told Preach got into an arguement with his mate Andy about what the channel should focus on. I absolutely LOVED playing Holy in Cataclysm. It was so satisfying pushing buttons and seeing your whole monitor go green and feeling that you are actually healing the raid. It's probably the thing that got me into playing support classes in the first place.
Think in TBC part of the Shadow Priests you missed the impact of the crafted "Frozen Shadoweave" items. Back then those had huge bonus to shadow and frost spells, which was the main reason, shadow priests dominated in the first tier of TBC. While damage to mana conversion was still the thing that made shadow priests desired, the damage was no longer the factor, and only on few specific fights priests were high on rankings.
Awesome job Preach & Co. As someone who's had an off and on relationship with WoW, it's super cool to see your perspective on how the game has progressed.
This was the series of videos that initially got me to subscribe to this channel. Sat there and binge watched them all. So good to see another one come out. Also, brings up the point that I think people are still looking at classic wow through rose tinted glasses all the bad gameplay elements from it (e.g. threat management or going afk for mana regen)
Ok, so maybe "bad" gameplay is the wrong choice of words. It was still a good game. But it does have elements that cause the player to not interact with the environment (e.g. going out of combat to mana regen in fight). Not ideal in my mind. I just think the player base overwhelming just remembers to good parts while reducing the bad or buggy parts of vanilla wow.
The things is. Most of these "bad parts" people are mentioning about vanilla WoW is not necessarily bad. It is mostly things that slow the game down, so it's not just a zerg fest anymore. I wouldn't mind having AoE looting and stuff like that in vanilla WoW, but I don't like the way they removed cool questlines like the key for BRD and stuff like that. To me the answer is not vanilla 100% like it was in retail vanilla. I just miss the feeling vanilla gave you, and that feeling can be achieved in a more modern way than how retail vanilla did it.
Andreas Kampf I think that is what people are really looking for is the feeling and memories they had from vanilla wow. Which is different for almost everyone. I really hope that classic wow lives up to the hype for those in the community asking for it. I just don't know if that will happen is all. But, good to see blizzard trying to address a growing base within the community.
And now we're getting Classic servers, which is going to be extremely interesting when all these people going "vanilla was better!!" get a very rude awakening.
I started off my fascination in this franchise by first playing a priest since a little after naxxramus, (here’s the kicker) in Hearthstone. Been playing priest ever since and it even led me to actually check out wow cause of it. Thank you Blizzard for the priest!
The Legacy videos have always been my favorite content on this channel, and likely my favorite WoW content on RUclips. I know they take a lot of research/time, but it's always great to see a new one. Thanks!
Oh, god. I had to forgot all about the lightwell! I remember all the times in dungeon wipes the priest would yell "IF YOU ONLY PRESSED THE LIGHTWELL!" and they all eventually made macroes spamming "PRESS THE LIGHTWELL!"... Good times.
The advantage of the shadow priest in vanilla is in the later patches when the number of debuff slots is raised, in turn making it viable to take a shadow priest to a raid to provide the shadow-weaving debuff, which gives a 100% chance to increase shadow damage taken by the target by 15%. While a shadow priest's individual dps may not be mind blowing, when you consider its spells are increasing the damage dealt by all warlocks by 15%, their uses become obvious. E: This was a good watch.
Indeed, this was the reason I was in BWL and AQ40 as shadow from time to time. The warlocks loved me. Though I always was in raids who liked to experiment. I was playing from time to time as a holy damage priest in BC raids as well. And iiirc even in Sunwell. We always had to many tanks and healers and even more ironically, we always just reduced the numbers of healers in raid to get enough damage for encounters. Which led to basically all healers needing to learn how to play as damage as well … because needing re-spec to damage was all the common with us. Especially the priest … I think we run Brutalus from time to time with 4 shadow priests and just 5 healers. Other encounters we did with 8 healers instead. It was an expansion of constant re-specs.
Big up for mentioning (and the way of mentioning) Hydra, Preach. Easily explains why I loved your channel so much since the day I discovered it. You have all my moral support, and I will probably consider now supporting you via Patreon. Have a very nice day!
