I've always hated that the 4 black buttons between the map lights are not illuminated. Is this the same as yours? I can't find the button for the lights in the dark
I just put the setting to door so light comes on when door is opened. Is that what u are talking about ?

I think I just wiggled and pulled firm but slowly
0:55 I also tried to remove the map light, or what you call it. I have seen also other video where they remove this clear plastic. But when I tried to remove it, it is very difficult. If it would be cold weather you might broke the plastic. I think you should first remove the grey bigger plastic part around the clear plastic. Then removing clear plastic part is easier. I did it that way.
I was too scared to remove the gray plastic part and just did it the way I did it. But that is good to know that u can do it by taking the gray cover off. Did u feel it was easier that way ?

Yes! It was waaay easier. There are four pull plugs. One one each corner. Pull one side down and the rest will follow. I had a hard time getting the bulbs out so I had to pull the whole piece off. Twist off the bulb cap from above was easier for my weak fingers
I bought the same kit for my 2022 xle premium so let’s hope it works 🤞🏼

Removing the bulb from map light is trouble some. Is it twist and turn or just pull?
Mine was just a pull. Wasn’t bad at all. But I think I had one stubborn one that didn’t want to come out
Don’t do what I did. I turned the whole thing and it went up through the hole

@@okiefoodieking no, I installed the light into the dome and noticed the bulb spins around easily in the holder and the metal grill part on the bulb winds up facing down in the holder, making the light very dim

I can’t understand with all the modern technology in these new cars that they keep using incandescent bulbs. LED’s can’t cost that much more for the car companies to install.
I agree as much as we pay for these vehicles why do they not put LED lights in as standard???
I was going to order these LEDs for my nephew’s new car. It has a black interior and the incandescent bulbs are so weak. Could you please tell me how they are doing in your car after a year?
Toyota has a “buy our top trim model or expect to replace basic things yourself” mentality and it’s only getting worse.
Just want to save people time here. If you have a 2024 Hybrid XSE (maybe others?) the lighting is built into the PCB boards so you can not do a lighting upgrade.

@okiefoodieking yep I bought the lights and just went to do it and . . . No bulbs just LEDs built into the circuit board themselves. It was a bummer.
W16W LED reverse lights are 3X brighter, access panel on hatch, but 2024 doesn't have access to license plate liggts, must remove all hatch trim....WTF Toyota ?

You thought you broke it, I definitely would break it. Therefore, going to pay someone else to do it.
Yeah u will think u broke it taking it off. Can be tricky. But just be kinda forceful with it. However, Toyota want to charge an arm and a leg. And don’t feel like giving those up right now

The first lights are donr wrong.
I have made SEVERAL attempts to change the map lights & I CANNOT get either cover off. You make it look soooo easy.

First light is incorrect. Gonna snap off plastic tabs doing it this way. Source: I just snapped mine. Need to remove the whole grey piece to do it correctly. Don't be like me and follow this guides directions.

@@Brimoe18 no, this is not the correct way. Just because it worked in this video doesn't mean there isn't a waaaay easier and less risky way (aka the right way). Find another video. Remove the whole grey piece from the front middle. If not you risk damaging the lense. This comment is to help people not damage their stuff. Feel free to follow that step if you want even after reading this 🤦♂️
