This is amazing, congratulations! The sheer amount of dedication and determination is just astounding. Hats off especially for things like having all shiny Alcremie and Minior. Now, having said that, I swear this is not a Spinda joke, but it looks like you are actually missing two forms (and their shinies). It is understandable, since they look the same as their base forms, but Home and the games officially consider them as separate forms, so I'll let you know anyway just in case. I am talking about Zygarde. You see, both the games and Home consider a Zygarde with the ability Power Construct different from a standard Zygarde with the ability Aura Break. This means that there is a total of four official boxable forms of Zygarde: 50% with Aura Break, 10% with Aura Break, 50% with Power Construct and 10% with Power Construct. You should be able to get the non-shiny variants with your OT from generation 6 and 7 without many problems, but I think the only way to have the shiny variants with your OT right now is to hunt them in the Dynamax Adventures and then using the Zygarde Cube to get the desired form. This situation is exactly the same as with Battle Bond Greninja and Own Tempo Rockruff, being officially considered different forms despite not being visually distinct. Speaking of Battle Bond Greninja, you said you had one but I didn't see it, I guess it was in a box that wasn't shown, anyway, too bad that form is both shiny-locked and with a fixed OT so far. Also, throughout the video you also mentioned the unboxable forms and I think what you're doing about them is really cool, trying to "catch" them by registering them in the Home Pokedex; however, beware that some of them will only show up if you met certain conditions, like, for example, MegaRayquaza is only registrable if the stored Rayquaza knows the move Dragon Ascend, or the Zen forms of both Unovan and Galarian Darmanitan need their hidden abilities to be registered. So, what I'm trying to say is that I suggest to you to double-check those unboxable forms presence in your Home Pokedex, just to be sure. Anyway, I hope you found this comment useful, and once again congratulations for your accomplishment. Also, good luck for the upcoming shifting of all the mons to make room for all the Hat Pikachu, Battle Bond Greninja and the other Zygarde forms.
Yeah that's true you're right. I also wouldn't mind to see him go for the free PoGo mons for those that are shiny-locked or OT-locked in the main games, at least as a placeholder, but I get that the GO stamp is irritating.
Great pacing, really appreciate there were basically no restrictions like catching them in colour coded pokeballs or catchin them in of games, just going straight for the goal

I dont reccomend getting children because there isnt enough time in a day for your Shiny hunting grind, your wife AND your kids. If your wife needs some love, lay down your game and be a good husband to her.
Im working on this myself but im going for a male and female of every form of every species of mon regardless of gender differences. everything must be in a pokeball unless unable to. main series is greater than side games. and every mon must be from its region of origin at its earliest game so gen2 mons from GSC instead of HGSS unless unable to. and of course everything must be my OT where possible. ive done all the hunts in RBY VC and then the leftovers need to be from GSC and traded back into RBY. done all in GSC (except the unavailable Unown) nearly done all gen 3 in RSE. working on deoxys as we speak. got some in DPPt and some in B2W2 but putting more focus into shiny hunting in XY/USUM before we loose bank. I wont be able to complete it all in time unfortunately but the gen4 mons i dont manage to get I will get in BDSP if needed and gen 5 will be the next remake most likely so i will save them for those games. more saddened that im on the clock for gen 6 and 7
Impressive, I'm working on the same thing, and I'm almost done. Besides Furfrou trims and shiny locks, I just need shinies of Pokémon introduced in SWSH that aren't available in SV. For G-Max, I have separate entries for non-shinies and plan on the same for their shinies when I get around to them. For Alcremie, I only have 7, but I'll probably get all of them at some point to unlock all the shinies in the home Pokédex, like you did. I also have shiny entries for shiny locked Pokémon and forms from pre-switch b/c of the qr code function in USUM for the scannable dex entries.
Very nice! I know a lot of people who separate the G-Max forms, maybe I’ll do that eventually too. Yep I had 7 shinies bred from SwSh for the longest time, but when the Milcery event was on in S/V I simply couldn’t resist catching all of them, despite having no physical difference in the box.
wow, such an aspirational list! im just getting back into playing after a few years away and there's so much DS game content i need to catch up on before i can't transfer things anymore that im definitely feeling the pressure lol i wanted to get a living form dex completed before i try dedicated shiny hunting, but im hoping a few shinies will come to me during the process. also very cool that you 6IV bred a lot of them! thats something else I'd like to try doing for my favorites once ive spent all the time i possibly can on the DS games
Good luck on your hunts! Do as much as you can on the DS while you still can. While the online services for Pokémon games on the 3DS will shut down in a few months, there is no shut down date for Bank just yet. So as long as you have Pokémon Bank and the Poké-Transporter app downloaded on a 3DS, you’ll be able to transfer everything up to HOME no problem. Thankfully most Pokémon are available on the Switch anyway, but there are still a few currently which are pre-Switch only.

How did you handle G-max Melmetal? Did you choose the G-max one or the one with your OT? And if you didn't know... do you have some shiny locked pokemon in your home dex? There is a method to get shiny meloetta in the home dex for example. You need to scan a shiny meloetta qr code in gen 7. Then scan the pokedex in pokemon bank, so it gets transferred to pokemon home. There is a good video explaining that: "These Shiny Pokemon will soon be IMPOSSIBLE to register in Pokemon Home" by Salted Neos
The Meltan and Melmetal and their shinies that are in my main list at the start of the video are my own OT that I caught in GO that I then transferred into Let’s GO and subsequently HOME. Sadly, I can never Gigantamax these Melmetal. The event G-Max Melmetal that was distributed back in the day I keep in a separate box with other event Pokémon. Also sadly, a shiny G-Max Melmetal was never distributed so it still technically is a shiny-lock.
Congrats on the huge accomplishment! Glad to see you've omitted shiny-locked pokemon and aren't using the 8F Mew. I heard recently that due to the 8F Mew glitch, it has different DVs than it would normally have from the event it was supposed to be obtained in, since DVs determined a pokemon's shiny-ness back then. Also, I have been looking for Unown's Mirage Cave for over 2 months now in ORAS (RNG y'know) and since you were talking about it, I figured I'd do my daily check for it and I just found it while watching this video. I'm in shock! There's no way this is a coincidence. Best of the luck on the Jirachi hunt. Colosseum is gonna be pain.
I didn’t know that about the 8F Mew’s different DVs - so I wonder if HOME will ever treat it suspiciously. I know it can be transferred in no problem currently, but who knows if they’ll change that. Very nice on finding the cave! Make sure you stock up on as much Max Repels as you can as you’ll be needing them to make the hunt easy as possible when you get down to just needing a few specific ones and require the Dex Nav’s assistance to encounter specific forms. Hope it takes you less than 6 weeks like it did for me. Thank you! I’m doing Jirachi with Pokémon Channel so the odds are even worse than Colosseum’s haha. Hope it’s quick!
It's worth noting that the reason Spinda always shows the same sprite is I BELIEVE because it technically DOESN'T have additional forms. I THINK the spots are assigned to the model/sprite via algorithm; there's no actual "form" flag. Massive props to you for doing this! I'm going for every form of every mon that I can get shiny with my OT (only using GO if ABSOLUTELY necessary, such as a Jirachi or Genesect with my OT instead of an event one), including alpha and gigantimax factor. (These effects all stack.) I will almost certainly never get this done in my lifetime, what with Manaphy and the distortion shiny alphas, but i intend to give it my all regardless! And seeing people like you who finish their formdex helps motivate me even more. Congratulations, and I hope you have had fun, and will CONTINUE to have fun, with shiny hunting! Here's looking forward to whatever new shiny hunts await us in the future! EDIT: I would also like to say I am doing "invisible" forms, which is to say things that have form FLAGS in the game despite not being VISIBLE. This is things like Own Tempo Rockruff being stored as a different form, or each "region" of Scatterbug being different, or--believe it or not--evolving different Burmy to get different, COMPLETELY POINTLESS AND INVISIBLE forms of Mothim. This is entirely because I think it is amusing. It also means I have to hunt Zygarde FOUR times. Which will be fun.

To avoid Ability Capsule/Patch shenanigans, some Pokemon have different internal form flags for "special" abilities that shouldn't be available without some extra legwork. For Battle Bond Greninja, that's the Sun and Moon Demo. For Own Tempo Rockruff, that's making sure you get lucky to find one in games where it's available, or breeding an existing one. Zygarde is the same way. Aura Break and Power Construct can't be swapped between with something like an Ability Capsule. They are internally defined as different forms. As such, 10% Aura Break is distinct from 10% Power Construct, and the same is true for the 50% forms. As such, that is FOUR total Zygarde needed. This restriction only applies to a few Pokemon, of course, Zygarde just happens to be one of them--and probably the more difficult out of the huntable ones.
Yeaa I just started shiny hunting in SV and if I started earlier I probably wouldn’t still be doing it. It’s way easy in these games, and now I’m committed. Got a few hundred different shinies in less than a year thanks to SV.
I'm doing this too but unfortunately I will probably never complete it because I can't physically get shiny deoxys or jirachi legitimately because GBAs are expensive and I don't have the means to transfer them up. With bank shutting down potentially soon I really gotta buckle down on my type nulls and my poipoles, celebi and the 8F mew

4:06 did OCD affect any other part of the hunt? i ask because i'm guessing i wouldn't be able to complete this due to it forcing me to do compulsions, possibly breaking chains for hunting methods etc. did any of yours get in the way during this hunt? curious to hear how you got past them! ^^
There were a few things in this hunt that affected me that forced me to push through. Eg some people like to colour coordinate the Pokéballs they use with the shiny colour. For some hunts I tried to do that, but for a lot I just used Ultra Balls or Repeat Balls, which don’t look as nice sometimes, but I made peace with it. I would definitely be more annoyed if all the OT names weren’t exactly the same. Thankfully in my case I have always used the same name in all my games so I was ok here. Some hunts required me to faint a shiny to get a shiny, e.g I got 2 shinies a couple of times while doing the SOS method in Gen 7, which ultimately meant I had to knock one out to catch the other. Let’s Go occasionally shinies I wasn’t looking for popped up when I had a chain going for another mon I was hunting. But I was more than happy in these instances to run away from these shinies and keep the chain going. I guess some things I’m pretty selective over and others not so much.

Currently doing complete an Alpha living Dex in PLA as well as a Galar only living Dex in SwSh. Also shiny hunting my second shiny Jirachi, full odds this time. And then will probably knuckle down on the 1100 raids I need to do to G-Max every Alcremie.

This is actually a really useful document (though hopefully becomes outdated in terms of shiny locks and such sooner rather than later...), chronicling the specifics of shiny mythicals as well as OTs for particular mythicals, something I've been hunting in non-shiny for my own living dex

Funnily enough since posting this video I’ve been hunting on stream every possible Alpha in PLA. I only have about 20 left. Shalphas on the other hand I am very happy for someone to achieve this goal haha
It's worth noting that Alcremie only registers in the HOME dex based on the flavor and not the sweet. If you deposit say Vanilla Cream + Strawberry, it will register all 7 Vanilla Cream forms at once even if you've never deposited any other Alcreamie. If your goal is to register all forms in the HOME dex, then that reduces the requirement down to 9. The same applies for Rockruff, depositing any will register both the standard and Own Tempo forms in the dex.
The only way to get the Unown Mirage Caves now is modding your 3DS and getting either Pretendo, or Netpass, and you still can with normal StreetPass. The only way it wouldn’t work after shutdown, would be if it was spotpass. Nintendo shutdown spotpass, not StreetPass. StreetPass doesn’t have any online components to it, fun fact.

I got crystal before the 3ds eshop closed and tbh it took time for me to become invested because it’s less colourful (my first game was pearl, I’ve also played shining pearl, arceus, and let’s go) but now I love it and I’m starting my first shiny hunt on it! I’m trying to get shiny pichu from the odd egg so my friend can have a shiny raichu but it’s not going well. The first pokemon I hatched was a normal female pichu and even though I’ve only reset 28 times I’ve hatched the exact same pichu about 5 times. It’s been 2 days since I last hatched that pichu again and I still can’t bring myself to reset it… I know I have the patience for this, but erasing a baby pokemon that I hatched is hard 😭 Especially when it keeps coming back! I’m tempted to keep it and breed a shiny pichu for my friend instead even though it’s more work. My next shiny hunt will be for celebi ✨ Then shiny pachirisu, I’ve wanted one since I was a kid!

Currently making my way through my own living dex, its been a lot of fun and RNG manip in earlier games makes it a bit more bearable. A difference on my organization was that i separated regional forms into the generation that they were introduced rather than next to their other forms so that I wont have to move everything if a new regional form is introduced. 😊
Great work! Yeah probably would’ve easier for me to do it the way you’re doing it to save moving things around every new game. Thankfully I’ve gotten quick at it so it only takes about half an hour to resort.
Unbelievable work! I have a completed form dex (too scared to start the shiny dex journey) but there are a few where I'm not the OT - Celebi, Victini, Genesect, Vivillon (pokeball pattern), Diancie, Hoopa (both forms), Volcanion, Marshadow, Zeraora, and the two Zarude forms, Ash Greninja and the cap Pikachus. Are there any of these where it's possible to obtain with yourself as OT other than Celebi? (unfortunately I didn't purchase Crystal on the DS virtual console before the e-shop closed 😞)
Great work on your Dex. You’re right about Celebi - own OT is only available on Crystal. The only other one you’ve mentioned that is possible to obtain as your own OT right now is Victini. Specifically Victini from Black / White (not Black 2 / White 2). Look up how to do the DNS exploit on the 3DS and use it to get given (eventually) the Liberty Pass that will allow you to travel to Liberty Garden where you will be able to catch a shiny-locked Victini with your name as the OT.
this is really impressive! i really dont have the mental capacity to do the shinies too so wow (especially that rat and dudunsparce), thankfully the rat with 3 i found in a raid but the 3 segment dudunsparce i havent been able to find yet, i really cant imagine the pain of shiny hunting these 😮💨 So i'm doing only the normal dex, i gotta finish SV and go back to arceus and then get all alpha forms because they just had to have that symbol in HOME didnt they :') not looking forward to that lol i do have all gmax forms in a separate box so they are doubled from the normal living dex, as well as just 1 of each form doubled (so like 1 rotom for the normal living dex and then for the box forms i have all of them + the one doubled just to keep them together).
I only didnt do that with the gender dimorphic pokemon, i have all males in the normal living dex boxes in order and the females separate in another box but with dimorphism tags for them all so i can filter the tag and they are all together so it's handy! tags by gen, forms, gmax forms (minus alcremie, just 1 is fine i can live with it), alpha forms and then the regional forms tags, its def a LOT easier to move pokemon around if they get new forms. I didn't bother with mega forms because i believe there is no symbol showing on home that they are mega? I think i had them all from bank though so they are in my home dex, but i can't tell on home which is which at this point haha i've been working on it since pokemon XY since we could get like all gens in that game, so i'll try to get my OT for most, but the ones u can only get in older games i wont go after unless they rerelease them for newer games. i also dont think ill be replaying the same game/dif version many times for diff legendaries with my name, which is why i find your dex even more impressive! all that patience to go thru a lot of boring dialogues just to get to the end game and catch some pokemon is incredible. it was realy really cool video! i was able to double check if i'm not missing anything too and i was missing the own tempo rockruff 😁
Glad the video helped :). Sounds like you have a great system going on! I’ve seen some people do separate box entries for Megas, but for me since they’re not a different boxable form I’m happy to just leave it for now. Maybe in the future that will change and I’ll go back and get them as separate. I recently separately got every Alpha Pokémon (non-shiny) and made a video on how to get them all if that interests you. Haha yep replaying the games can get tiresome, especially with the amount of dialogue a lot of them have in the first few hours that you have to skip through. Hope the rest of your hunts go well!
I used to play ultra moon ALOT as a kid I remember encountering a shiny zubat and I didn’t know what a shiny was so I killed it with my starter and it happened TWICE a because I killed a shiny murcrow too! So yes I’m stupid

Yep, this list has 1,326 shinies of my own (some Pokemon have gender differences and different forms). Then there’s the 11 that you can get as shiny but not with your OT. Then add roughly another 1300 - 1400 for the non shinies. So about 3000 in this collection.
I have 37 to go for the same task! I do include Go mons so I can get my mythicals from the masterwork researches but this way all my mons are also in pokeballs 🥰
I used the website PokédexTracker which was handy, however it doesn’t includes forms or genders. I simply cross referenced forms and genders with their dedicated pages on Bulbapedia and Serebii. I know there are other trackers online that include these differences but I don’t remember their names.
I honestly like this shit, I kind of really want to have a full shiny dex. But I just can't convince myself that it's a good idea or a well use of time to sit down and do it all.
I did a lot of these hunts during down time while I was already watching TV in the background or something. I definitely wouldn’t recommend taking time out of your day to solely do shiny hunting and nothing else.
Currently the only way to get Furfrou's extra forms (including Shinies) is through Pokemon Go, which makes them very difficult to complete. I just need them to complete my dex
For my list I’m only counting mons from the main line series games, with the Meltan line and Roaming Form Gimmighoul being the only exception. But you are right in saying yes I would get an own OT Genesect from GO.

Yep sadly they aren’t boxable forms. I may shiny hunt doubles of them one day if they ever make them boxable, but I am currently at peace with it.

I am talking about Zygarde. You see, both the games and Home consider a Zygarde with the ability Power Construct different from a standard Zygarde with the ability Aura Break. This means that there is a total of four official boxable forms of Zygarde: 50% with Aura Break, 10% with Aura Break, 50% with Power Construct and 10% with Power Construct.
You should be able to get the non-shiny variants with your OT from generation 6 and 7 without many problems, but I think the only way to have the shiny variants with your OT right now is to hunt them in the Dynamax Adventures and then using the Zygarde Cube to get the desired form.
This situation is exactly the same as with Battle Bond Greninja and Own Tempo Rockruff, being officially considered different forms despite not being visually distinct. Speaking of Battle Bond Greninja, you said you had one but I didn't see it, I guess it was in a box that wasn't shown, anyway, too bad that form is both shiny-locked and with a fixed OT so far.
Also, throughout the video you also mentioned the unboxable forms and I think what you're doing about them is really cool, trying to "catch" them by registering them in the Home Pokedex; however, beware that some of them will only show up if you met certain conditions, like, for example, MegaRayquaza is only registrable if the stored Rayquaza knows the move Dragon Ascend, or the Zen forms of both Unovan and Galarian Darmanitan need their hidden abilities to be registered.
So, what I'm trying to say is that I suggest to you to double-check those unboxable forms presence in your Home Pokedex, just to be sure.
Anyway, I hope you found this comment useful, and once again congratulations for your accomplishment.
Also, good luck for the upcoming shifting of all the mons to make room for all the Hat Pikachu, Battle Bond Greninja and the other Zygarde forms.

Im working on this myself but im going for a male and female of every form of every species of mon regardless of gender differences. everything must be in a pokeball unless unable to. main series is greater than side games. and every mon must be from its region of origin at its earliest game so gen2 mons from GSC instead of HGSS unless unable to. and of course everything must be my OT where possible. ive done all the hunts in RBY VC and then the leftovers need to be from GSC and traded back into RBY. done all in GSC (except the unavailable Unown) nearly done all gen 3 in RSE. working on deoxys as we speak. got some in DPPt and some in B2W2 but putting more focus into shiny hunting in XY/USUM before we loose bank. I wont be able to complete it all in time unfortunately but the gen4 mons i dont manage to get I will get in BDSP if needed and gen 5 will be the next remake most likely so i will save them for those games. more saddened that im on the clock for gen 6 and 7

Impressive, I'm working on the same thing, and I'm almost done. Besides Furfrou trims and shiny locks, I just need shinies of Pokémon introduced in SWSH that aren't available in SV. For G-Max, I have separate entries for non-shinies and plan on the same for their shinies when I get around to them. For Alcremie, I only have 7, but I'll probably get all of them at some point to unlock all the shinies in the home Pokédex, like you did. I also have shiny entries for shiny locked Pokémon and forms from pre-switch b/c of the qr code function in USUM for the scannable dex entries.
Very nice! I know a lot of people who separate the G-Max forms, maybe I’ll do that eventually too. Yep I had 7 shinies bred from SwSh for the longest time, but when the Milcery event was on in S/V I simply couldn’t resist catching all of them, despite having no physical difference in the box.

Good luck on your hunts! Do as much as you can on the DS while you still can. While the online services for Pokémon games on the 3DS will shut down in a few months, there is no shut down date for Bank just yet. So as long as you have Pokémon Bank and the Poké-Transporter app downloaded on a 3DS, you’ll be able to transfer everything up to HOME no problem.
Thankfully most Pokémon are available on the Switch anyway, but there are still a few currently which are pre-Switch only.

How did you handle G-max Melmetal? Did you choose the G-max one or the one with your OT?
And if you didn't know... do you have some shiny locked pokemon in your home dex? There is a method to get shiny meloetta in the home dex for example. You need to scan a shiny meloetta qr code in gen 7. Then scan the pokedex in pokemon bank, so it gets transferred to pokemon home.

The Meltan and Melmetal and their shinies that are in my main list at the start of the video are my own OT that I caught in GO that I then transferred into Let’s GO and subsequently HOME. Sadly, I can never Gigantamax these Melmetal. The event G-Max Melmetal that was distributed back in the day I keep in a separate box with other event Pokémon. Also sadly, a shiny G-Max Melmetal was never distributed so it still technically is a shiny-lock.
Congrats on the huge accomplishment! Glad to see you've omitted shiny-locked pokemon and aren't using the 8F Mew. I heard recently that due to the 8F Mew glitch, it has different DVs than it would normally have from the event it was supposed to be obtained in, since DVs determined a pokemon's shiny-ness back then. Also, I have been looking for Unown's Mirage Cave for over 2 months now in ORAS (RNG y'know) and since you were talking about it, I figured I'd do my daily check for it and I just found it while watching this video. I'm in shock! There's no way this is a coincidence. Best of the luck on the Jirachi hunt. Colosseum is gonna be pain.
I didn’t know that about the 8F Mew’s different DVs - so I wonder if HOME will ever treat it suspiciously. I know it can be transferred in no problem currently, but who knows if they’ll change that.
Very nice on finding the cave! Make sure you stock up on as much Max Repels as you can as you’ll be needing them to make the hunt easy as possible when you get down to just needing a few specific ones and require the Dex Nav’s assistance to encounter specific forms. Hope it takes you less than 6 weeks like it did for me.

It's worth noting that the reason Spinda always shows the same sprite is I BELIEVE because it technically DOESN'T have additional forms. I THINK the spots are assigned to the model/sprite via algorithm; there's no actual "form" flag.
Massive props to you for doing this! I'm going for every form of every mon that I can get shiny with my OT (only using GO if ABSOLUTELY necessary, such as a Jirachi or Genesect with my OT instead of an event one), including alpha and gigantimax factor. (These effects all stack.) I will almost certainly never get this done in my lifetime, what with Manaphy and the distortion shiny alphas, but i intend to give it my all regardless! And seeing people like you who finish their formdex helps motivate me even more. Congratulations, and I hope you have had fun, and will CONTINUE to have fun, with shiny hunting!

EDIT: I would also like to say I am doing "invisible" forms, which is to say things that have form FLAGS in the game despite not being VISIBLE. This is things like Own Tempo Rockruff being stored as a different form, or each "region" of Scatterbug being different, or--believe it or not--evolving different Burmy to get different, COMPLETELY POINTLESS AND INVISIBLE forms of Mothim. This is entirely because I think it is amusing. It also means I have to hunt Zygarde FOUR times. Which will be fun.

To avoid Ability Capsule/Patch shenanigans, some Pokemon have different internal form flags for "special" abilities that shouldn't be available without some extra legwork. For Battle Bond Greninja, that's the Sun and Moon Demo. For Own Tempo Rockruff, that's making sure you get lucky to find one in games where it's available, or breeding an existing one.
Zygarde is the same way.
Aura Break and Power Construct can't be swapped between with something like an Ability Capsule. They are internally defined as different forms. As such, 10% Aura Break is distinct from 10% Power Construct, and the same is true for the 50% forms. As such, that is FOUR total Zygarde needed.
This restriction only applies to a few Pokemon, of course, Zygarde just happens to be one of them--and probably the more difficult out of the huntable ones.

I'm doing this too but unfortunately I will probably never complete it because I can't physically get shiny deoxys or jirachi legitimately because GBAs are expensive and I don't have the means to transfer them up. With bank shutting down potentially soon I really gotta buckle down on my type nulls and my poipoles, celebi and the 8F mew

4:06 did OCD affect any other part of the hunt? i ask because i'm guessing i wouldn't be able to complete this due to it forcing me to do compulsions, possibly breaking chains for hunting methods etc. did any of yours get in the way during this hunt? curious to hear how you got past them! ^^
There were a few things in this hunt that affected me that forced me to push through. Eg some people like to colour coordinate the Pokéballs they use with the shiny colour. For some hunts I tried to do that, but for a lot I just used Ultra Balls or Repeat Balls, which don’t look as nice sometimes, but I made peace with it. I would definitely be more annoyed if all the OT names weren’t exactly the same. Thankfully in my case I have always used the same name in all my games so I was ok here. Some hunts required me to faint a shiny to get a shiny, e.g I got 2 shinies a couple of times while doing the SOS method in Gen 7, which ultimately meant I had to knock one out to catch the other. Let’s Go occasionally shinies I wasn’t looking for popped up when I had a chain going for another mon I was hunting. But I was more than happy in these instances to run away from these shinies and keep the chain going. I guess some things I’m pretty selective over and others not so much.

Currently doing complete an Alpha living Dex in PLA as well as a Galar only living Dex in SwSh. Also shiny hunting my second shiny Jirachi, full odds this time. And then will probably knuckle down on the 1100 raids I need to do to G-Max every Alcremie.

This is actually a really useful document (though hopefully becomes outdated in terms of shiny locks and such sooner rather than later...), chronicling the specifics of shiny mythicals as well as OTs for particular mythicals, something I've been hunting in non-shiny for my own living dex

Funnily enough since posting this video I’ve been hunting on stream every possible Alpha in PLA. I only have about 20 left. Shalphas on the other hand I am very happy for someone to achieve this goal haha
It's worth noting that Alcremie only registers in the HOME dex based on the flavor and not the sweet. If you deposit say Vanilla Cream + Strawberry, it will register all 7 Vanilla Cream forms at once even if you've never deposited any other Alcreamie. If your goal is to register all forms in the HOME dex, then that reduces the requirement down to 9. The same applies for Rockruff, depositing any will register both the standard and Own Tempo forms in the dex.

The only way to get the Unown Mirage Caves now is modding your 3DS and getting either Pretendo, or Netpass, and you still can with normal StreetPass. The only way it wouldn’t work after shutdown, would be if it was spotpass. Nintendo shutdown spotpass, not StreetPass. StreetPass doesn’t have any online components to it, fun fact.
I can only think how much of a nightmare reorganizing and renaming all the boxes will be when they add new regional variants

I’m trying to get shiny pichu from the odd egg so my friend can have a shiny raichu but it’s not going well. The first pokemon I hatched was a normal female pichu and even though I’ve only reset 28 times I’ve hatched the exact same pichu about 5 times. It’s been 2 days since I last hatched that pichu again and I still can’t bring myself to reset it… I know I have the patience for this, but erasing a baby pokemon that I hatched is hard 😭 Especially when it keeps coming back! I’m tempted to keep it and breed a shiny pichu for my friend instead even though it’s more work. My next shiny hunt will be for celebi ✨ Then shiny pachirisu, I’ve wanted one since I was a kid!

Currently making my way through my own living dex, its been a lot of fun and RNG manip in earlier games makes it a bit more bearable. A difference on my organization was that i separated regional forms into the generation that they were introduced rather than next to their other forms so that I wont have to move everything if a new regional form is introduced. 😊
Great work! Yeah probably would’ve easier for me to do it the way you’re doing it to save moving things around every new game. Thankfully I’ve gotten quick at it so it only takes about half an hour to resort.

Unbelievable work! I have a completed form dex (too scared to start the shiny dex journey) but there are a few where I'm not the OT - Celebi, Victini, Genesect, Vivillon (pokeball pattern), Diancie, Hoopa (both forms), Volcanion, Marshadow, Zeraora, and the two Zarude forms, Ash Greninja and the cap Pikachus. Are there any of these where it's possible to obtain with yourself as OT other than Celebi? (unfortunately I didn't purchase Crystal on the DS virtual console before the e-shop closed 😞)
Great work on your Dex. You’re right about Celebi - own OT is only available on Crystal. The only other one you’ve mentioned that is possible to obtain as your own OT right now is Victini. Specifically Victini from Black / White (not Black 2 / White 2). Look up how to do the DNS exploit on the 3DS and use it to get given (eventually) the Liberty Pass that will allow you to travel to Liberty Garden where you will be able to catch a shiny-locked Victini with your name as the OT.
Idt the Pokéball form Villivon is obtainable outside of an event in XY. Was the red box because of this, as it’s technically shiny locked?
Yep so the regular poke ball pattern Viv was obtainable as an event previously, the shiny however is still locked as it was never distributed.

this is really impressive! i really dont have the mental capacity to do the shinies too so wow (especially that rat and dudunsparce), thankfully the rat with 3 i found in a raid but the 3 segment dudunsparce i havent been able to find yet, i really cant imagine the pain of shiny hunting these 😮💨
So i'm doing only the normal dex, i gotta finish SV and go back to arceus and then get all alpha forms because they just had to have that symbol in HOME didnt they :') not looking forward to that lol i do have all gmax forms in a separate box so they are doubled from the normal living dex, as well as just 1 of each form doubled (so like 1 rotom for the normal living dex and then for the box forms i have all of them + the one doubled just to keep them together).
I only didnt do that with the gender dimorphic pokemon, i have all males in the normal living dex boxes in order and the females separate in another box but with dimorphism tags for them all so i can filter the tag and they are all together so it's handy! tags by gen, forms, gmax forms (minus alcremie, just 1 is fine i can live with it), alpha forms and then the regional forms tags, its def a LOT easier to move pokemon around if they get new forms.
I didn't bother with mega forms because i believe there is no symbol showing on home that they are mega? I think i had them all from bank though so they are in my home dex, but i can't tell on home which is which at this point haha i've been working on it since pokemon XY since we could get like all gens in that game, so i'll try to get my OT for most, but the ones u can only get in older games i wont go after unless they rerelease them for newer games.
i also dont think ill be replaying the same game/dif version many times for diff legendaries with my name, which is why i find your dex even more impressive! all that patience to go thru a lot of boring dialogues just to get to the end game and catch some pokemon is incredible. it was realy really cool video! i was able to double check if i'm not missing anything too and i was missing the own tempo rockruff 😁
Glad the video helped :). Sounds like you have a great system going on! I’ve seen some people do separate box entries for Megas, but for me since they’re not a different boxable form I’m happy to just leave it for now. Maybe in the future that will change and I’ll go back and get them as separate. I recently separately got every Alpha Pokémon (non-shiny) and made a video on how to get them all if that interests you. Haha yep replaying the games can get tiresome, especially with the amount of dialogue a lot of them have in the first few hours that you have to skip through. Hope the rest of your hunts go well!
I used to play ultra moon ALOT as a kid I remember encountering a shiny zubat and I didn’t know what a shiny was so I killed it with my starter and it happened TWICE a because I killed a shiny murcrow too! So yes I’m stupid

Yep, this list has 1,326 shinies of my own (some Pokemon have gender differences and different forms). Then there’s the 11 that you can get as shiny but not with your OT. Then add roughly another 1300 - 1400 for the non shinies. So about 3000 in this collection.
I have 37 to go for the same task! I do include Go mons so I can get my mythicals from the masterwork researches but this way all my mons are also in pokeballs 🥰

I used the website PokédexTracker which was handy, however it doesn’t includes forms or genders. I simply cross referenced forms and genders with their dedicated pages on Bulbapedia and Serebii. I know there are other trackers online that include these differences but I don’t remember their names.
I honestly like this shit, I kind of really want to have a full shiny dex. But I just can't convince myself that it's a good idea or a well use of time to sit down and do it all.
I did a lot of these hunts during down time while I was already watching TV in the background or something. I definitely wouldn’t recommend taking time out of your day to solely do shiny hunting and nothing else.

Currently the only way to get Furfrou's extra forms (including Shinies) is through Pokemon Go, which makes them very difficult to complete.

The OOT Genesect is possible it just has to be from Pokémon GO. This also applies to the shiny
For my list I’m only counting mons from the main line series games, with the Meltan line and Roaming Form Gimmighoul being the only exception. But you are right in saying yes I would get an own OT Genesect from GO.

You can have trim furfrou outside mainline games(Pokemon Go) by trading, furfrou's shiny trims are what I am lacking in my collection right now.
I got complete living dex non shiny and I have Gen 1-7 shiny. I have a good amount of Gen 8 and 9 as well
