- Today, I’m testing the Gaahleri ACE GHAC-98D airbrush on an Entry Grade RX-78-no primer, no putty, just painting. Can a $60 airbrush deliver pro results? Let’s find out!

Awesome tips! I'm going to be weathering my first gunpla soon and this helps ease my anxiousness about it 😁
It was exactly the topic I needed. I had just started weathering my gunpla
yay! I'm glad you found it helpful! tell your friends! lol
What a great video!!!!!! You are really talented Pixxellie!!!! You made that basic kit look amazing!!!! I would definitely be down to watching more of these, maybe you could offer the finished kits as rewards for your channel members
thats a great idea! I've been struggling to think of new members vid ideas~!
All we need now is for you to review a $60 mini pressure washer to clean your dirty Gundam... :D
lol! 🤣
no primer goes against everything i know. gotta try for myself. great results!
THE RULES WERE MADE TO BE BROKEN!
ok miss max watanabe. this look great!!!
thank you!!!!!
Wow, this was really impressive😊😊😊
thank you!!
Greeting from Jiyugaoka 😊❤
Hello!!! Welcome ☺️
There were so many points where I thought it looked great already, but you kept taking it to the next level. When you added real dirt to the base, I was like, "Oh, now she's just takin' the piss!" *lol* Can't argue with the finished results, though. That came out amazing! 👍
lol thank you!!! The real dirt was fun 😝
Excellent job. First model I ever painted was my MG Gouf custom and I airbrushed it.
nice!! the gouf is a classic! love 8th ms team.
Great video....this is super helpful for anyone!
Yay! Glad you liked it! Thanks ☺️
Looks incredible and thank you for showing you can do incredible work without spending aton I honestly think that's what scares potential new builders off is thay think you have to spend alot to get started great video
thank you! I agree, a lot of people get overwhelmed but theres nothing wrong with starting on a budget!
Awesome! I fully agree with you that it’s expensive tools are not necessarily needed to obtain excellent results. Patience, experience and skills make up for 90% of the results!
yes could not agree more!!
This video made the process much less intimidating than it's felt before. Thank you for making it!
I'm curious - with gunpla kits, do you find yourself dealing with fit between pieces after painting? One reason I've shied away from painting my kits is that the margins are pretty tight, and in my first attempt a lot of paint scraped off the joints when posing. (That said, I also was struggling with my airbrush at the time and ended up with pretty thick paint application.)
you can definitely scrape paint off if you're not careful. Generally I plan the pose before painting, and then keep it to one pose from then on. I dont have issues with fit though. I do thin coats to help with that.
I've done some light weathering on my MG Zaku 2.0 and it turned out okay. Just some dry brushing. But that was before I had an airbrush and bespoke brushes for drybrushing.
I have a MG EZ-8 that I am planning to weather. I bought one of those weathering kits with the little sponge sticks so I want to try that out.
hey theres nothing wrong with hand painting!! love the EZ-8 btw
@@pixxellie I'm stuck on picking a color for the EZ-8. I've seen some with a light tan and others with an off-white/grey. Which do you prefer?
@ you gotta follow your heart!
Thank you. Very inspiring.
Glad you liked it! 🥰
Did the plate bend for some reason, or was the wooden piece not entirely level? I noticed the gap and wondered if it was caused by some chemical process with the miliput/gluing or if everything wasn't completely flat. Thanks for sharing an encouraging video!
lol thats because I have not yet glued it down!! it's just stuck on there with some blue tack. once I glue it down it will all be flush.
I love this video! Great to hear your comments on the process. I also use Vallejo acrylics but I'm terrified to weather with solvent based products on top; you are really quite fearless, wow! Base turned out sweet, too.
@@Geekeric Mr weathering oil is an oil paint, not solvent based. It’s fine with acrylics!
@pixxellie okay, but no solvents to wipe it off? I'll have to stop being such a chicken.
@@Geekeric I use mr weathering solvent, which is technically a solvent but it's really gentle on acrylic. I've never had an issue. if you gloss coat over your paint you should be fine.
This is some great airbrushing advice along with a promotion of this specific airbrush. I transitioned out of using airbrushes as my interests went more towards Warhammer painting and the maintenance (i.e. cleaning) of the airbrush was the least interesting part of the hobby. End up giving away my Airism Compressor and Procon Boys wawy to a friend who has shown way more promise than me with an airbrush. And this looks like an interesting piece of gear from Gaahleri.
thank you! I agree cleaning can be a pain. It used to be my least favorite part, but I've finally got it down to where I dont need to do as much deep cleaning with proper maintenance.
On the AK page, they demonstrated dipping the tip of the pencil in some water (it's better to moisten it with a wet paper towel) before using it, and it improves the flow, and you can streak it afterwards.
I've been doing that for a while.
Oh wow I never thought of that! Thanks for the tip!
Wow, maybe I need to dust off my old old airbrush and stop being a coward, you made it look easy.
go for it!
New video!
yes! life has been very busy lately but I'm still trying to crank them out!!
@pixxellie I really respect that. I usually just procrastinate.
