  • Thought we would make a short video of our inside shop area. We have rooms full of tools collected over the years some are very old some are new. I love seeing peoples work areas and tooling so here is some of ours. more to come as we set them back up. Thanks

I discovered some strange looking hammer when I as a family member looked around the farm my mother is from. There was a blacksmith there, and she remember the setup, with big double leather bellows and everything. Proper old school, smithing horse shoes and chunky nails, and so on. Imagine a 20" hammer, but it's made of 3/8" steel with just a metal wedge twined in as a head. The head is metal, but copper green. I wish I knew more about this tool.

Great shop set up & video on it! What is the brand & size of your power hammer? Looks like a great size to me!

Thanks for showing us the place
I wanted to see if I wanted to stick with BlackSmith hobby and didn't build a trend hammer or anything bigger because of limited shed space and them tools does work. I'm 71 and started 5 years ago mainly wanted wood working tools and been loving BlackSmith and now my shop is setup for making the wood working tools that should serve well and still be cheep.as chisels of quality are expensive and I'm 71 don't want to buy anything and it just gets garage sale after I've passed.
I'm thinking any tool I now build hopefully going to a craftsman who knows the fill of a great tool and steel.
I'm rebuilding my ribbon burner giving me about 7 by 6.inches and 18.inch deep .
I'm hopeful I'll add Tommy Hawk on my got it done list. Something I've failed because the Forge weld didn't look solid.
    Keep making videos.
    Thanks 👍

The area is 14ft ×14ft.. wall to wall. Pretty comfortable work area. Off camera is a big welding table and tools that I can roll in when I need them.

Im not as organised as well set up as you, I have more space but more space means more stuff that is not always a good thing! I should work on compacting my area so everything is only a few steps away!😅

Where did you purchase your fly press? I've been looking at one that I think is identical to yours. Have you had any pros and cons on the press?

Pieh tool company. They are a funny tool. But can really squish and punch. And no electricity or noise is nice. Get as big as one as ya can. Lots of tooling can be made for em. And can do lots of cold work stamping and bending.
