In Illinois by me there isn't much other than some thrift stores, but I've been able to find lots of great classic rock and jazz records for $1-$2. I've tripled my collection in the past year from doing that, and its always fun since you never know what you'll find out there!
I was hoping you picked up Randy California's solo record ( Spirit ).. I bought the repress 2 yrs. ago ! And "The Dreaming" for a dollar is killer ! Also that Kenny Burrell is excellent, as you said. Sweet sweet King Crimson.. Nice finds ! " What A Difference A Box Makes" Dinah Washington ! LoL !! 😊

Hi Michael. You’re absolutely right. Captain Beyond and Randy California are difficult to find. I’ve been digging for many years and I’ve only seen Captain Beyond once before. It came in a collection I bought back when we had The Record Mission brick and mortar record store. I had to sell it to keep customers happy and coming back for more. I love Mike Auldridge. Lowell George from Little Feat worked with him and that’s how I discovered him. The labels you recommended were spot on. Always a good way to take a chance on a record. I found my copy of Captain Beyond, with the special cover, at a thrift store for a dollar! Always the best kind of finds. Love your channel!

Strange is right. When he said $1.00 each in that box I had to bite my tongue! A big part of me wanted to yell are you sure?! lol. I asked him if he could work with me on the Justin Hines and The Dominoes record from the experience box. He had it priced at $80.00 and it was an OG which can sell for over $80.00 and into the low $100.00s for one in NM condition. He gave the discogs median price which ended up being $40.00 for a NM OG. He wouldn’t budge on the Augustus Pablo which was a reissue priced like an OG 😂. Maybe it’s the altitude. We are at 7300 ft.

Some great finds for so cheap..Roy Harpers' Valentine is a lovely album, I'm a big fan of his..I have a UK Harvest first press that also came with a die -cut lyric book that was limited to the first editions and had to be sent off for, it's quite rare now. The Captain Beyond albums are great finds, I never see their albums here in the UK.

Nice finds!, I like Mike Auldridge I haven't found any of his records yet. I did find a couple Eddie Adcock albums a while back. He plays an interesting banjo and guitar fingerstyle. I always look for jazz and that Charlie Mariano is one I'd like to have too.
I was pleasantly surprised by how great the Auldridge albums are. I’m a huge fan of jazz as well. It’s definitely my favorite genre. The Mariano record is so good! Thanks for stopping by.

Seems almost all Antique stores have become this way. It was much better pickin’ when they didn’t know how to price their records!! 🤣 I’m finding that estate/garage sales and Facebook marketplace have a lot of people pricing to sell fast and in most cases they just want the box of records gone asap. Been getting some killer steals and deals on top tier records for pennies per record. 👊🔥🤘
Most of them “think” they know how to price records but they don’t know their head from their spindle hole. 😂🤣. Worse even they don’t know how to grade records for condition and pressing. Occasionally that can work in our favor but most of the time it leaves shaking our heads lol. Congratulations on your Facebook marketplace reconnaissance paying off. Smart way to get some deals. ✌🏽

@@renegade.records One more funny note. At the last thrift I was at on my New Mexico trip I asked to flip through a box of records, that wasn’t priced, sitting on the floor behind the register. The owner panicked and said no my husband hasn’t researched those yet. I responded, “If I see anything I want you can look up the price while I’m here.” She agreed. I found a few very cool records in that box. On her cellphone she immediately began to research the records on eBay and started blurting out the highest prices she could find. I then asked to see her phone. She agreed 😳. I told her she is looking at listing prices and she needs to look at the sold prices. She acted like she didn’t know any better and I’ll give her the benefit of the doubt. She agreed to give me really fair prices by knocking 25 to 50% off the eBay sold prices. Those records ended up being some great deals. ✌🏽

That's the flip side of overpriced records, often the seller has no idea what they are doing and will have some they don't know and will get rid of for peanuts, far more interesting than Beatles early pressings.
