    Intermittent fasting has been my best friend I usually do the 20:4 i started with the 16:8 and gradually increased the hours. I lost about 16kgs in 2 months (I’m a person who loses weight really fast when i try) I i used to be 82kg now I’m about 67 i alternate between 67 and 66 and i feel so much happier and healthier now. IF had become a lifestyle but now since I’ve reached my goal weight I do the 16:8 just to lose a little bit of the excess fats. I also drank lots of green tea and ate whole foods also durning my window eating I wouldn’t restrict myself and if anyone reading this and are starting with IF please don’t restrict yourself during when you can eat!!! I can’t stress this enough! When I restricted myself it lead to binge eating and it might’ve lead to something more if I didn’t stop it.

      No never count your calories, you should only be worried about calories when you’re buying food from outside or like take out because you never know what’s in there you know? I think you should just cook for yourself and know what you’re putting in your body. As for the working out I actually didn’t because I’m really lazy but i do move around a lot, i walk to school and back and i go out a lot and sometimes when i don’t have a ride I would just walk so yeah I never did anything like crunches or leglifts :) hope this help & inspired you

      In my opinion breakfast is not the best meal to skip as you are "breaking the fast" which means the sooner you eat breakfast the sooner you start burning calories so I would suggest eating something light atleast I know I sound like a broken record but breakfast is the most important meal of the day

    • @esmee6308
      @esmee6308 4 года назад +23

      @@ellamc7065 Except you don't start burning calories because you ate something, you burn calories since it's your body's fuel to function and if the body has to, it will tap into its reserves, which we all have. You can break your fast at any hour of the day, it just happens to be the most common to 'break your fast' in the morning that some languages call it breakfast.
      The most important thing is to listen to your body. If you are naturally inclined to skip breakfast you're unlikely to feel negative consequences and why not make your fasting window something that comes easy to you anyhow. But if you're the kind of person that feels hungry, light-headed or the likes when not eating breakfast, it's a bad idea since it will lead to being unproductive (too distracted by hunger) inactivity due to light-headedness and extremely likely to vacuum up whatever you can find when your eating window does start rather than eat a healthy, balanced meal. In the end, especially weightloss, is still just about kcal in and kcal out, it's just harder to overeat if you only at 4-8h a day. Still possible though.
      Every culture, past and present, has their own eating habits and everywhere there's healthy and unhealthy people. There's no one way to do it and generally it's really about what you put in it, rather than when and to do what feels right for you.

      @@esmee6308 i understand that but if you stop eating meals your body will convince itself you need to store your fat in case of emergency or in some cases your body thinks it's saying so it will actually start storing more fat

    • @esmee6308
      @esmee6308 4 года назад +6

      @@ellamc7065 There's a lot of research done on fasting, on starvation, etc. Though there is truth to your body going into emergency modes one way or another through starvation, common IFs, such as 16:8, 20:4 even omad aren't proven to have such extreme effects since you never get to the point you're starving, heck most people who have any of those fasts as a lifestyle don't even get hungry.
      As with most of these things, there's little harm, little benefit (without more things considered, e.g. healthy diet, total kcal consumption etc.) And people need to decide what works for them. Unless you're a top athlete or bodybuilder, there's no need to overthink. If it works for you, isn't harmful, doesn't lead to deficiencies etc. You do you, be it eating breakfast or not.

      @@ellamc7065 your body doesn't know how much calories you eat. when you skip meals insulin in your body falls and you pancreas secrets glucagon which breaks down fat after you deplete glycogen from your body storages, your body doesn't care where the food comes from as long as it gets it,if you eat more often but you lower your calories your body won't be able to tap in your fat storage because there is high amount of insulin in your blood, also fasting speeds up your metabolism

    I'm 20, 4' 11" and my heaviest weight was 160 Ib. To a lot of people that's really nothing but for someone my height I was extremely overweight. I started intermittent fasting about 3 weeks ago and dropped down to 137.8 Ib. I'm not chasing a number, I'm just trying to lose all my unnecessary fat while doing home workouts (Emi Wong and Chloe Ting both have great workouts that are very simple and I believe are helping my weight loss/fitness journey run more smoothly!
    Update: 7/6/20 Currently maintaining 135-138 Ib (depending on the day). IF definitely worked for me. It may not work for everyone and I wasn't expecting much from it... At this point, I think I'm building more muscle, hence not losing weight but having the number be stable/increase.
    Update 11/4: weight in at 130 Ib-- I still have belly fat that I'm trying to get rid of but my body has changed a lot!

    I did intermittent fasting since I was in high school about 20years ago before even internet boom about IF. The reason I did it coz I want to save money so I just skip breakfast n have just lunch at 12pm n diner at 6.30pm. What I find out is I have never overweight n my belly always flat . I fell light n feel great . People told me I have a good genes n I always thought so. But a few years ago I always heard like breakfast is the most important meal of the day . Then I try to start eating breakfast. I feel full all the time n guess what after 1 week of breakfast my belly pop up. Then I know . It is not because of my genetic , it because I didn’t have breakfast .

    I'm not trying to deny the validity behind intermittent fasting, but I can say from my own experience, that it can easily open a door to eating disorders, before you even realize you have one. You get excited about seeing pounds lost on a scale that morning, and you think, "Oh, what if I fast for another day." Then, one day, turns into two, or three, or more, with scarcely eating much anything at all. The pounds drop, and you're so encouraged. Then, you binge eat, and you hate yourself. I'm glad I got myself in check. But, now that' IF is a trending dietary concept, I worry how many people will be harmed by it. Please, take care of yourselves.

    In Islam, we fast for a whole month from sunrise to sunset, and we call it Ramadan. I love Ramadan so much It is really one of the best months for me. All people are fasting like you (only children, when u have you're period or when traveling ...)Fasting is not only for eating and drinking, but for the poor so that we can feel what they feel to help them. At the end of the month, it is Eid where we stop fasting, but during the year in Islam we can fast Monday and Thursday because deeds are shown to Allah (God) on Monday and Thursday

      idk i mean she seems to have lots of fruit (natural fructose which is certainly lower on the Glycemic index than processed sugars), a potatoe(high starch and a little fiber), and moderate amounts of dairy(high protein, moderate fat, and moderate amounts of potassium) as well as small amounts of candy or a fizzy drink a day(high sugar/moderate sodium).... overall the only problems i really see is her sugar intake is a bit higher than it should be and her calcium intake is also probably rather high). If i had to make a couple reccomendations to her diet i would probably throw in some lean meats or eggs at least for one meal a day, which would provide similar amounts of protein but unlike milk it has only minute amounts of calcium which can be harmful in large amounts over prolonged periods of time. Also I would recommend occasionally substituting the baked potato for some meat or nuts/whole grains as potatoes are high on the glycemic index. But like anyone, who really has a 100% perfect diet? and no lets not talk about organic and GMO shit, that's complex and probably not quite as largely impactful as many think it is....

      @Alex R yeah . exactly, it's because what makes people look young in the face are the fatt tissues, the 'baby fat'. With age, we lose that gradually and that's the main thing that makes people look older and eventually start sagging. That's how dermal fillers work, they 'refill' the fat that was lost due age and give it a more youthful look. This girl does look older in the after pics. Not bad though. Just less youthful

    Thanks for this video I finally managed to find an influencer who can communicate her knowledge to the crowd and her videos are not about self-showing. Useful, clear and with no misunderstandings.
    I have been doing this diet for two weeks and it is very motivating to listen to successful stories. First of all, my goal was not to lose weight, but to bring the system into my life so that I wouldn't eat it when the social atmosphere was dragging me or when I could smell the food. I felt innervated and depressed from an irregular meal at times. Already in this two-week period brought noticeable changes such as better sleep, more energy, will and the achievement of a perfect meditative state. Since I run in the morning, it is important for me to eat afterwards, so I eat at 9am for the first time and last at 5pm, because I usually go in the bed early.
    People transcend themselves, there are plenty of stimuli that motivate us to eat and eat
    to buy and buy. But we forget what nature has to offer us. Unprocessed fresh vegetables and fruit seeds have been serving us since ancient times and we have also forgotten that eating is necessary for subsistence and not a hobby.
    I encourage everyone to take this form of eating so that we pay attention not only to our church but also to our environment and our planet.

I drink 0 to low cal beverages and I do light exercise. I just started so I know most of it is water weight. Out of all the diet strategies I did in the past. This one works best. • @anyssaj.426
      @anyssaj.426 3 года назад

      Don't fast for periods that are too long, and everytime you want to eat something, drink water and wait a few minutes to see if your cravings are gone. Eat if you need to, but while you eat, continuously ask yourself "am I hungry right now," which will help you control yourself from eating more than you need. Whenever I want to eat a snack, I always ask myself if I'm actually hungry. Usually I'm not hungry, just because I'm eating out of boredom. Also, if you do have unhealthy eating habits and are trying fasting, I would suggest trying to fix up your eating habits before deciding to go long periods of fasting.

I was a little concerned about my hair thinning (turned out I just needed to dye my roots 😂) but read up a little and found evidence to support scalp massage & fairly firm hair tugging increased hair regrowth in balding subjects. An increase in protein can also be helpful if you're deficienct. Lastly, (& there isn't much evidence to support this) but L-Lyseine is an amino acid which doesn't seem to be particularly abundant in vegan foods (not sure about the content in non-vegan) so if you're lacking in this, it could negatively affect your amino acid & complete protein profile. Might be worth trying to increase your intake in conjunction with scalp massage/stimulating blood flow. Hth! Xxx
      ETA sounds like you've increased your fats and omega 3 since quitting veganism. Maybe you weren't getting enough healthy fats, especially if IF reduced your caloric intake? Lack of omegas & fats could also possibly explain mental health being worse? I think they improve cognitive function & brain health..... Either way, do what you feel's right for you. Best wishes xxx

    Hi Chloe! :) Really loved your video and that you shared so openly your experience, it's very interesting and helps to reflect on our eating habits.
    However, I would like to add something to clarify. You mentioned many times avoiding gluten. As long as you are not GLUTEN INTOLERANT or CELIAC (as I am), gluten does not have any direct effect on your body :) most probably, the problem is that the foods that you were eating, like maybe pasta or bread, are processed and contain many other things that might make you feel bloated. Or, you might be gluten intolerant, but in that case you need to be tested (since it affects many sides of your heath) and in order to be tested it's better to continue eating gluten otherwise nobody will identify the damages in your body.
    As Berliner and general person that struggles with gluten - expecially eating out in Berlin - I like to clarify this because it's happening more and more that people stop eating gluten without having a diagnosis.. and then they go to the restaurants, eat and say they don't eat gluten SOMETIMES and this creates a mess for people working in restaurants and creates the side effects that then this illness is not taken serously anymore :)
    Sorry for the long comment, hope it helps!
    xxx

      Actually this is not true.. Gluten is really strong to be digested and is highly inflammatory per se, when eaten in abundance it can give reaction also to people who are not celiac or gluten intolerant just because it is inflammatory per se. My husband was tested for celiac and gluten intolerance and it had a negative result, but since he started avoiding gluten he had tremendous benefits! No more bloating, no skin rushes and he aching, no acne, no stomach pain and no more diarrea

    This video really resonated with me. I definitely think about food much less with IF. I also allow myself to have treats, but what I noticed is that I can eat until full and be satisfied, but before I was binge eating when I felt like I can't have them anymore after my binge. I didn't realise it until recently, that I was judging how "good" I am depending on whether I had sweets or not. I just think it made me constantly feeling guilty, if I haven't been "good". When I adopt a different approach, by using reason, if what I eat makes me feel good or not, then I will be able to choose foods depending on how I want feel, instead of thinking about myself, whether I am gonna be good or bad today.

    Did it have any effect on your hormones or stop your periods at any stage? I love fasting but it stops my periods as I find it does with most women who are young or with a smaller frame. Its a shame because I love all other aspects of it!

    I'm doing low carb intermittent fasting (20/4). I've lost 14 lbs in 2 weeks. I'm doing this to get into a healthy weight range and fight IBS. My BMI is just under 25. I walk 10,000 step per day, do some weights, and take a wide range of supplements. I'm wary of losing too much weight. (That can make you sick.) I eat meat and healthy fruits, veggies, and nuts. I'm 76 years old. (Maybe I'll last another 10 years.)

      @@fruitnstarch You have a point there. I started implementing some of her habits as a way to lose weight because I really feel the need to. Just the other day, my boyfriend made me realise that what I'm doing isn't healthy. Just thought fasting and drinking smoothies etc is the healthiest thing. But in hindsight this can be classified as an eating disorder.

      @@fruitnstarch what do you mean? She hasn't cut out anything on her vegan diet except reducing gluten because she's gluten sensitive. She still eats carbs, fats, proteins: potatoes, grains, other starches, avocado, nuts, seeds, greens, vegetables fruit, beans, legumes. Idk how this is eliminating anything (besides animal products which aren't healthy anyways)?? She's eating a healthy whole foods plant based diet.

      ShaneIsTheQueen you don’t sound stupid in the slightest, the fast closes at sunrise meaning you eat/drink something before the sun rises and don’t eat or drink anything until sunset. I hope this answers your question☺️

This year they didnt drink and eat anything for 17 hours in a day and repeated same fasting for 30 days. Even more many of them afraid to use mouthwash or brush their teeth or get shower during fasting, because of water restriction They argue this topics every ramadan on TV, at least in my country.

    I find intermittent fasting really interesting but I actually wake up every day at 6 am to go to school. How can I manage hunger in the morning if I want to interminttenfast?

    • @amelie9006
      @amelie9006 5 лет назад +8

      Vanessa2001 I had the same "problem" but I just tried to drink as much water as possible which helps so much with hunger in the morning. Of course I was still hungry especially because I am such a breakfast person but once you push through the first days it really becomes easier and your body gets used to it!

    • @sweet-tee

      You don't have to push your eating window back, IF is just eating during an eating window that works best for you. If you need to eat earlier you just have you last meal earlier, ex if you are doing the 16:8 method if you break your fast at 7:00 am you would have an eating window of eight hours and start fasting at 3:00 pm , it's just easier for some to push back their eating window so it allows them to have dinner in the evening like from 11:00 am - 7:00 pm, 12 pm -8 pm, drink water, black coffee or herbal teas until it's time to break fast
