A couple things to note for people interested in camping at Leavitt. First the view is spectacular and I usually try to spend a day hiking around the area. You can hike to the two lakes north of Leavitt then head up the hill to the PCT and hike south along the ridge line until you hit a trail that takes you back down to Leavitt. If I remember correctly it is about 6 miles and totally worth doing. Just keep in mind the lake is at 9500 feet and the ridge line is over 10,000 feet so listen to your body if you start to struggle. Another thing to know is that the road varies in difficulty year to year and even month to month. It has been slowly getting worse over the last 20 years or bc so and you definitely need a true 4x4 when the road is bad. Finally it’s worth knowing that it is common to see large groups of people playing loud music and being disruptive up at the lake. I wish this lake which used to be a hidden gem wasn’t being ruined by these people but there isn’t much I can do about it. If possible going on a weekday will decrease the likelihood of seeing these people. Stay safe and enjoy your trip!
What an awesome location to camp and looks like great company. Way to stick out the brake line issue and keep your head down focused on adventure! Thanks for sharing!
Looks amazing and is very timely for me. I’ve been searching for somewhere to boondock and fish in the Sierras for this coming week. I’ll be doing some more research in this area thanks! High quality video too!
Yeah me too to be honest. I talked more about it in the video but decided to cut it out. I think it may have just been a bad batch as the shop who installed them has never had issues, and almost exclusively installs their lifts. Hoping these replacements are the end of it.
Was definitely a bummer and haven’t seen this before. We install these a lot with almost every lift. Think this was just some bad luck but EVO was great and handled it.
Last time I tried to drive there could not really go past the first steam crossing, tried but barely made it back out. Full 4wd. The road has not been maintained past that. Turing it into a road less area.

Was this early spring?
Just a few weeks ago
Don’t complain about large groups of people at Leavitt when you are telling the world how great it is. What do you expect?
