you can also youse your board as a anchor just lay it on to of the front tube with one of the bindings over the frontube but the board still touching the ground

Works at most places! Normally my go-to is the harness and board to hold it down in high winds. Sadly the setup area here has a lot of rotor from the house behind the kite so it just lifts up the kite from behind and the board falls off, not quite heavy enough

I went to the beach today and saw some people kiteboarding/kitesurfing and my god... it looks so fun to do! I really want to get into the sport, but would it be wise for me to do so? I wear glasses and I'm basically blind without them. Could you practice this sport when you are in need of glasses? Lenses are unfortunately not an option for me.

      Prescription Goggles?
I see they are a thing. Would they work?

I have astigmatism since young age and even though it's not 100% perfect, I wear biofinity toric monthly contact lenses (you have to take them out in the evening and put them into a cover with solution/liquid). If the problem is the feeling of having lenses in, try these. I also feel and don't like to wear any others. If the problem is about vision, they should be able to find a compromise where you will see in long and medium range. For short-range you might want to get additional glasses that you can wear with lenses if you want to read / use PC.
Alternatively, search for solutions how to fixate your glasses on your head as much as possible. Maybe the goggles as suggested in the comment below or something.

Just wear prescription sunglasses and you’ll be fine. Get an elastic attachment so you don’t lose em. The cheaper the better, some are floatable, helps as well

@@deaddummy538 Make sure to not just tie them around your face, also make a short tether to your wetsuit. I have a few pair of megalooping glasses at the bottom of the river. I recommend getting cheap prescription glasses from a place like zenni, or repurposing an old pair so you don't feel so bad when you do lose them. They stay on better if you also wear a helmet, and that's a good idea as a beginner anyway

the thing I don't understand is; when u go upwind u can't gain speed. without speed u can't jump high. what I try to do is go perpendicular to the wind to gain speed and just before sending the kite up, start to go upwind. still can't pass 9.5m height.

If you’re losing your speed, you’re going too aggressively into the wind while approaching the jump. I find that just a bit into the wind is ideal for me most of the time. Then once you’re sending the kite, I edge much harder away from the kite and into the wind. So the edge changes from approach to to sending the kite and popping. Hope that helps 🤙
