Light wind kiting on the Airport Flats

First time mounting my gopro to this kite, it ended up getting moved a little and had some water on the lens which led to some undesirable quality/angles... But its so beautiful out on the flats that I couldn't help but share! Using an Airush Lithium 14m Music used: ruclips.net/video/hKitZEncwro/видео.html
Thanks very much for the vid. Will try it these days to switch my feet. 🌊🌈👍
the thing I don't understand is; when u go upwind u can't gain speed. without speed u can't jump high. what I try to do is go perpendicular to the wind to gain speed and just before sending the kite up, start to go upwind. still can't pass 9.5m height.
If you’re losing your speed, you’re going too aggressively into the wind while approaching the jump. I find that just a bit into the wind is ideal for me most of the time. Then once you’re sending the kite, I edge much harder away from the kite and into the wind. So the edge changes from approach to to sending the kite and popping. Hope that helps 🤙
you can also youse your board as a anchor just lay it on to of the front tube with one of the bindings over the frontube but the board still touching the ground
Works at most places! Normally my go-to is the harness and board to hold it down in high winds. Sadly the setup area here has a lot of rotor from the house behind the kite so it just lifts up the kite from behind and the board falls off, not quite heavy enough
I went to the beach today and saw some people kiteboarding/kitesurfing and my god... it looks so fun to do! I really want to get into the sport, but would it be wise for me to do so? I wear glasses and I'm basically blind without them. Could you practice this sport when you are in need of glasses? Lenses are unfortunately not an option for me.
Prescription Goggles? I see they are a thing. Would they work?
I have astigmatism since young age and even though it's not 100% perfect, I wear biofinity toric monthly contact lenses (you have to take them out in the evening and put them into a cover with solution/liquid). If the problem is the feeling of having lenses in, try these. I also feel and don't like to wear any others. If the problem is about vision, they should be able to find a compromise where you will see in long and medium range. For short-range you might want to get additional glasses that you can wear with lenses if you want to read / use PC. Alternatively, search for solutions how to fixate your glasses on your head as much as possible. Maybe the goggles as suggested in the comment below or something.
Just wear prescription sunglasses and you’ll be fine. Get an elastic attachment so you don’t lose em. The cheaper the better, some are floatable, helps as well
@@deaddummy538 is this something you use as well?
@@deaddummy538 Make sure to not just tie them around your face, also make a short tether to your wetsuit. I have a few pair of megalooping glasses at the bottom of the river. I recommend getting cheap prescription glasses from a place like zenni, or repurposing an old pair so you don't feel so bad when you do lose them. They stay on better if you also wear a helmet, and that's a good idea as a beginner anyway
Nice! Loving the 11m orbit
Strutless ufo all the way so much better than one strut.
Any difference in the bar pressure ?
Nothing dramatic from my experience. Felt very familiar coming off the standard orbit
great review
Nicce explanation, easy understanding, great video , usefull tutorial.. thx
Yeah Brad!
Great video! I'm in the market for a Code Zero, did you have any experience with the 2024 model to see how it compares?
I’ll be trying it in the next week or so. Sounds like some stability and bridal tweaks. The original is pretty dialed so I’m curious to see how much improvement is left to be made. Can update ya after I try it :)
You forget to-say bump back foot to bring foil on the rise so new front foot catches nose of board rising
Definitely can be helpful, especially in lightwind! I find that the more powered you are, the less that it’s a necessity since you’ll be more weightless during the movement from the kites assistance, but lightwind it can definitely help from dipping the nose 🤙
amazing experience, how would u rate the code zero setup? im playing to buy one
I really like it! It’s been my go to foiling kite for about a year now and I don’t have any complaints!
Was this on a north east day??!
Yep
Which front wing were you using? MA1050 or 1200?
MA1050
Obviously no wind at the end there lol but how much was there when you were going?
It was pretty classic Hood River, quite up and down. I’d say anywhere from 15-low 20s. I took a 7m
I met you at curry hammock
Looks like a cool spot dude! Where is it ?
Sick spot dude 🔥🔥
Awesome times!!
Dude where is that at? That spot looks nice! 🤙🏼
Marco Island Florida :)
Sick session! Cheers for sharing.
Well done! Perfect material...All core: Simply the best stuff money can buy. Greetings from Germany
that's so awesome!
awesome spot
What's the name of the spot? I'm going to OBX in Sept. :)
Not really sure if a name. You park at the Graveyard of the Atlantic Museum, then walk down the road to the beach where you can see the big island across the ferry channel
Funny how you are smiling after each trick. For sure that’s a very nice playground :-)
Haha it was a hidden gem for sure. Flat water is just so satisfying
Nice spot!
awesome footage and great edit! im thinking about going up this week for the first time any advice for a first timer?
There's pretty much a beach for any wind direction. If you go further south to Kite Point/Frisco Woods, the wind is much better when it gets a little easterly compared to the kite beaches closer to Avon. SW is the best though, can do Planet of the Ape runs everyday when its blowing out of that direction. Super fun, definitely go with some other people or link up with some people already there to do some downwinders. Those are definitely the best experiences there!
@@bradstrahm7278 thanks for the tips! i got a room in avon wed-friday going so def going to try a few different places around there tomorrow! winds not looking very strong but hopefully ill get a session or two in!
Nice vid! What camera mount did you use?
I used a “U-Go kite line mount” along with a mouth mount to blend shots together. Shot on a GoPro 9 :)
@@bradstrahm7278 Thnx!:)
Wow great video! Looks absolutely magnificent. Do you have more footage from Boca Grandi? I hope you can answer me some quick questions: What weekday was the video taken? How many knots did you kite in? Was it ever crowded at some point? And of course - which camera did you use? Tanks!
Hey Hey! Thanks a bunch! I believe all the video was from Tuesday-Thursday 25kts give or take 5 depending on the day. Yeah it gets crowded in early afternoon. A bit many people to send consistent big jumps at times Go Pro Hero 9. Drone footage off a Mavic Mini 2
@@bradstrahm7278 Thanks!
That looks like fun.
Nice Brad
cape town vibes! cool man!
Nice one dude, you got your rotations on lock!!
Thanks man!! The big kite makes them a lot easier. Still working on the double front rolls with the 9m
Looks so dope mate!
Awesome!
Yewww love the warm sunset shots! Very impressed, The Brad 🙌🙌
Awesome video!! See any sharks while out there!?
Thanks!! And no, but saw quite a few seals if that counts for anything lol
Yea man sick edit!!
Hey man. Cool vibe video. What camera did you use and mount?
Why the section for loops?
