I have been to most communist/ex-communist countries, most several,or many times, (and even lived in the 2 largest) however I have never been to North Korea and have no desire to. I did not like Belarus. I ❤Ukraine and Ukrainians, and will drive there in the coming weekend with evacuation and aid delivery vehicles for donation. My 9th trip since the brutal invasion. I agree with you that going to Russia is more dangerous than going to Ukraine. You’re the best, Anna!

That is the best way to put it.
So are his propogandists. I find it hard to watch any of them, but I do sometimes. There is lots of talk about information warfare by the Russians targeting the west. The very best thing we could do is to make the western people, especially in Europe and the US, aware of how clownish and toxic the Russian leaders are.
He's also a psychopath that is the leader of the largest country on Earth and that has the most nuclear weapons of any country and commands a military of 2,000,000, he is also the wealthiest person alive, even Musk has said so of him. All of those combined give Putler immense hubris that he can do anything he pleases without consequences. Despite this, he is on unsteady ground politically and becoming desperate due to the continuing and larger defeats in Ukraine. He is ripe for an assassination. He may, as both he and his minion Lavrov have threatened numerous times, use a dozen tactical nukes in Ukraine in order to 'win'.
But then NATO, though not obliged to do so, would definitely hit Russia with an enormous conventional attack. Putin would panic and use a dozen to perhaps 20 strategic nukes on NATO countries. Then it's on like Alderan! NATO would retaliate with at least 100 strategic nukes and Putin would launch every nuke he has (Russia has 1,700 strategic nukes and a large number of tactical nukes that they have never divulged the number of). The US would order SIOP 1 which is Strategic Option 1 which is the launching of all of our nukes at the gamut of Russians targets. Then, the human race goes extinct, either within a few days or a few months from nuclear winter that will last 10 years. Perhaps another more-peaceful intelligent creature will evolve after 20 million years.

I knew a lovely girl from a South Korean village near the boarder. During the Korean war when North Korea was attacking the South, starving North Korean soldiers were killing children from her village & eating them because they had no food supplied. Everyone was starving but the village survived the attacks & eventually American soldiers stepped in & helped stop the village from being attacked.
It is awful what these regimes do to other and their own people

Her about page says "Raising awareness about North Korean human rights issues and spread the word about freedom around the globe." She wasn't a coward for not protesting. She's not a coward for leaving. She's brave. The story of her escape is harrowing.
Anna, if you or any of your 145 thousand friends want to learn a little about North Korea, I can recommend Yeonmi Park. She's a hero too in my opinion.

One day my family will visit where my uncle Henry, s regiment ( Royal Ulster Rifles) fought the North Koreans and Chinese on the river Imjin, survived being a POW and made it back to Ireland
A good friend of mine, her father was in the Canadian military fighting in the Korean war, sadly he didn't survive that war.
