It's taken me months to find this after I couldn't tell you how many searches... No idea why it was so hard to find, but it's EXACTLY what I've been looking for. Promote this video more, RUclips!
This helped me sooo much at work, thank you! I'm training to potentially shift to the art department at the company I work for and I've never had to deal with clipping masks until this one job popped up and this tutorial cleared everything up for me!
thanks, getting closer. It appears to work withing illustrator, but when i save as a pdf for engraving the crosshatch grid is appears in other software.
Now is it possible once you have a compound path to then move those shapes without releasing the clipping mask? Trying to setup a complex design in illustrator using one compound path then needing to move the shapes to setup a nested print file. have issues creating the mask for each shape without the program moving sooooo slow being it duplicates the mask for each shape and makes a massive file to work with. I am working with a design and and image, I know you can typically create a crop around the mask but in this case it does not work with the image just the vector work. Any help? Hopefully that makes sense.
Now Can I get a video of this add variable data with numbers 001-100. and add cutting path around an oval with a raster image clipped..... What a nightmare.
Because you know what you are doing, you did everything very fast. For an instructional video, you should SLOW down and not go back and forth which is confusing.
Be blessed for this gem.
Super helpful. Thank you! Clipping masks have been a mystery as I work in After Effects mostly and encountering clipping masks ruins my day!
