finally! I kid you not-I have not figured out why my clipping make never worked in about more than a decade so I would find work arounds. I could never find the right way to explain the issue to do a proper google or RUclips search, all clipping mask tutorials never mentioned converting shapes into compound paths. I love you!
The compound path tip was a lifesaver! I think Illustrator used to do this automatically because suddenly my multiple shapes weren't working with the clipping mask.
I went through several tutorials and your was the only one that had all of the steps, so simple. Men do not describe things as well as women, I know this now:)
Compound path was my problem - I probably tried 20 times to make it work with text and became so frustrated. Thank you so much for the wonderful calm and clear explanation of how to make a clipping mask with text!!!!!!!!!!!
This is the BEST in tutorials!!!! I had the same issue with text/outlines... and viewed other videos... but they didnt' address the Object > Compound Path > Path solution!!!! Thank YOU!
I watched 5 different tutorials on this, all doing the same thing, none of them working for me and I was about ready to throw my laptop out the window... Thanks for mentioning to turn the vector to compound path. 🙏
Thank you... From the guy that chatted with you on RB... Happy to see you are doing other videos on how to use illustrator... I hope you will do more :)
hello @roguepixel - how did you make the cloud shapes in your illustration? Do you have a tutorial on that? I looked, didn't see anything. Tried using polar grid tool, offset path, join and other methods. Nothing gave me the same stroke at difference scales, with a filled in graphic and stroke all around the cloud shape. Thanks in advance, Alissa
I'm always confused when I watch vids on the clipping mask in Illustrator. Why convert the text to outlines? I always keep it as text so I have an option to change the font later on or reuse for a different word/phrase.
It works! Although I'll probably keep converting to outlines. Purely because it's better design practice to convert any text to outlines, especially when designing for print, but good to know! 👍
Please help me when I clipping mask instead it becomes an image and I can't release clipping mask. All of my edits are in vain because I can't turn back into objects
@@RoguePixel so I edited in eps format. When I clipping mask it becomes an image, not an object clipping mask. so I can't release clipping mask and make it an object before I do clipping mask

I love you for telling us to make a compound mask

you are the best even the novice will be able to follow your tutorial. Keep it up
Great tutorial. just one update. It is no more required to convert text to outline. This way text remain editable within a group.

Purely because the text needs to be a compound path for the mask to work 🙌👍
Not in my experience, works the same way

Can you tel how to overlap an image in abdoe illustrator.
your beautifull face brought me here ♥
Does the mask have to be an image created in Illustrator?

Can you explain what you mean when you say it 'becomes an image'?
@@RoguePixel so I edited in eps format. When I clipping mask it becomes an image, not an object clipping mask. so I can't release clipping mask and make it an object before I do clipping mask
@@RoguePixel the image I mean is that it immediately becomes the image file when I do the clipping mask

This video was helpful but insanely long lol

Every tutorial on RUclips is the easiest thing to do in illustrator. Can we do something complicated?
The basics are the most important aspect for any software, I help people master them first 👍
