  • This was an awesome build that came together really nice. Sean came to me with an idea of building the back of her Subaru Outback fully with batteries, fridge, solar, bed, drawer, tables you name it. Love a challenge and a different kind of build, and that's exactly what it ended up looking like!
    Products used in the build:
    Fridge: amzn.to/2JiPD6X
    Inverter: amzn.to/2Jcc1ix
    DC Panel: amzn.to/2Jd3f3K
    Renogy 100ah Battery: amzn.to/2JdLj97
    Renogy 100 Watt Solar Kit: amzn.to/2RTgo6d

    Fuse Panel: amzn.to/2Jd3sUA
    Gas Struts: amzn.to/2LrCwTJ
    Lid Stay: amzn.to/2NnwRRq
    Magnetic catches: amzn.to/2RIwZcN

    ABOUT ME I grew up in a cabinet shop and was a born to be woodworker. In the past few years when work slowed in the custom cabinet industry I converted a few friends Vans and SUV's so they had more storage for adventuring, work, or just the weekend beach getaway. Before I knew it I had my own business making people's ideas come to life. I design and build all kinds of custom wood work and vehicles here at my shop in Huntington Beach, California! I’ve been thinking on this for a couple of years. After reading the other comment here regarding weight, my decision to utilize carbon fiber is solidified. It will not require me to upgrade components on the vehicle. The cost will be a wash in comparison.

      Right!!

    • @AnthonyRMaradin
      @AnthonyRMaradin 4 года назад +12

      It's nice; however, the added weight.
      Is it within the vehicle's registered cargo weight!?
      Is the suspension upgraded!?
      Is a transmission cooler (if automatic) required on this model!?
      Upgraded brakes for stopping!?
      Tire ratings!?
      Etc.
      Will this vehicle tow a trailer or even have a 2 inch reciever basket!?
      The vehicle may do fine on flat roads. But add hills, road conditions like snow or mud, even the slightest off road use... and problems may occur.
      Just say as an extreme overlander, these are things many forget to consider.

    • @SirWilliamGoes
      @SirWilliamGoes 4 года назад +4

      @@AnthonyRMaradin what exactly is an "extreme overlander" I don't think that this setup is anywhere hindering the vehicle. If it was sagging or something then I'd be concerned but they will be good.

    Love the build! I'm on my 4th version of outfitting my 2001 Ford Explorer Sport. My third build was done by my son in law who is a finishing carpenter .. so we built all the cabinetry like you did. And where is it now? On the garage floor. I built a place where there was almost no room left for me! LOL Now I have my bed and that is a raised deck to level me out but has storage under it. Now all my cooking gear and food go into a 'larder' that I can remove and it becomes my seat outside and cooking area too. All my clothing now goes into stuff sacks that can be compressed .. the sacks are also waterproof. Now for sleeping or just relaxing I have way more room .. when I pack up, the big Plano plastic box has wheels on one end and I lift it in and strap in down .. all hard items in my rig are secured. Hope you don't take offense that I may be 'dissing' you work .. it is gorgeous .. just saying what I ended up doing.
