ABOUT ME I grew up in a cabinet shop and was a born to be woodworker. In the past few years when work slowed in the custom cabinet industry I converted a few friends Vans and SUV's so they had more storage for adventuring, work, or just the weekend beach getaway. Before I knew it I had my own business making people's ideas come to life. I design and build all kinds of custom wood work and vehicles here at my shop in Huntington Beach, California! Please email me solidwoodworx@gmail.com for more information. - Хобби
If you'd like Sean to make a "One Year Later" video with likes, dislikes and what she would do different, thumbs up this comment.
I can ask her and she if shes up to it.
@@SolidWoodWorx I subbed just in case it works out! Awesome work on this one.
Solid Wood Worx I’m trying to do something simple like this to my Scion tC have you done anything like that with a tc or anything at all with a tc? Or could you give me some ideas?
I’ve been thinking on this for a couple of years. After reading the other comment here regarding weight, my decision to utilize carbon fiber is solidified. It will not require me to upgrade components on the vehicle. The cost will be a wash in comparison.
@@josephhuffstetler6569 Just start sleeping in your car on a regular basis and ideas will start coming to you.
Mainly what you need to live and where you want to store everything.
Best Subaru camper conversion I've seen. Thumbs way up.
Right!!
It's nice; however, the added weight.
Is it within the vehicle's registered cargo weight!?
Is the suspension upgraded!?
Is a transmission cooler (if automatic) required on this model!?
Upgraded brakes for stopping!?
Tire ratings!?
Etc.
Will this vehicle tow a trailer or even have a 2 inch reciever basket!?
The vehicle may do fine on flat roads. But add hills, road conditions like snow or mud, even the slightest off road use... and problems may occur.
Just say as an extreme overlander, these are things many forget to consider.
@@AnthonyRMaradin what exactly is an "extreme overlander" I don't think that this setup is anywhere hindering the vehicle. If it was sagging or something then I'd be concerned but they will be good.
@@AnthonyRMaradin 2015 and newer models load weight capacity is 2700 lbs, this is well within the specs of its reach. I have a 2 inch receiver and two a 1600 camper and full car load on mine with no issues.
@@michaelwalker9229 - You do not understand vehicle weight restrictions - which is one of many points I made. There is towing capacity, receiver weight and what the vehicle can carry inside. Finally, I simply shared things most people fail to consider. Feel free to have the last word.
I am blown away by how much room and storage you can fit in that car. Just amazing.
I drive a Santa Fe and have been watching van build videos for the last year looking forward to the day when I can get a van. I'm so glad people like this guy are also on RUclips. I realize now that there's plenty I can do with my Santa Fe so I don't have to wait or spend money on a van. I've already got some ideas that I'm going to try out.
Her idea of using spare tire space, plus ALL that flexible storage/sleeping space you found in a WAGON - combined genius! Subscribed, hooked, addicted...
A very practical design & build for the limited size of the vehicle. Thumbs up to everyone involved.
Brian, I am so amazed at your talent and skill! Really great build! Thanks for sharing!
Omg, I love this and how you executed her ideas so perfectly!!
Love this! One of the more creative builds I've seen to date.
Dude such a sick build!!!
A rooftop roll-out annex would compliment this perfectly. I have a custom 4m x 3m on my 2005 outback and use it every time I go camping and love it!
This is a very cool conversion. Well done, guys. All the best on your climbing trip.
Brian, Wow that was impressive use of space! Great job! Solar too!
This is kickass! I am using a legacy and was wondering about taking the back seats out, I'm happy to see how well it works! Thanks for the awesome video
Wowzer. You rock, Brian!
Very clever build. You should be proud of that one, I am impressed. When you walked around to show the water I was expecting an above rack outdoor shower with her outdoor lifestyle. Thinking about pulling out the tank-corner was smart, It surprised me, I would have had to make that one...after the build, lol, Thanks for letting me see it! I’d say keep up the good work, but with your talent... I think, you don’t have a choice!
I absolutely love this build out. Great job!!!!!
I have built out my Hyundai Tucson in much the same way. The mattress to get is the Exped Megamat 10. It rolls up to not much if you need to transport something in the sleeping space. It's also incredibly comfortable and holds its shape and air like you wouldn't believe.
Awesome build, I am getting ready to start a new chapter in my life and you may have answered all of my questions with 1 video...awesome!
well done! cool to see an outback conversion
Phenomenal build - brilliant use of the space!
Jonathan Spence tddg
this is the most Oregon thing we've ever seen
@Jake Sangria bahahaha
All those successful, highly educated, high tech employees do no good for America.
I'm being sarcastic. Look up the word.
@@johnmca5643 They are great. The governments they elect sucks.
I'm honestly pretty impressed for such a small space!
Hands down THE BEST suv camper setup of all the ones I've seen. Only thing I wish were added were a tap w/ pump for doing dishes and showering when necessary
Wow, superb job! I have a 2004 Forester, this set-up will be perfect.
Really cool! Tonssss of storage there👍 I love my build, but this seems like another great option.
This is the first subaru conversion I've seen that utilizes the space in the spare tire well. Thank you! It annoys me so much when folks just cover it up lol.
Nice work as always my friend! Your work never disappoints.
I love my Subaru, and I love this build!!! Fabulous!!!!!
Great work! I assume she’ll be sealing and finishing all the wood surfaces. Excellent use of space and approach to the layout--it’s a really small car interior, so you did a terrific job of meeting all her needs.
Awesome build. Love all the sliding storage areas.
A thing of beauty & practicality!
Unique design this is genius congratulations on your adventures this young man and his team did an incredible job Many blessings to you all
This is awesome. Thank you!
Wow! This is amazing. I’m looking for a minivan to take long trips in. Wish I could afford something like this. I absolutely love it. You do stellar work.
Great job bro. It's amazing exactly what you can squeeze into an outback. Perfect...
You guys do great work. Super clean simple details. Awesome. Gave me some good ideas.
I have a crush on this guy and his amazing talent. ❤️❤️
Great video. Cool to see your interaction with clients. Awesome build. 👏
Great video and fun to see a Subaru Outback built out like that for long term trips. Have fun on the trip and thanks for sharing.
Dude!!! This thing is awesome!! Gives me so many ideas of what I want my Subaru to become! I love Subaru’s so much, and I plan to mimic this design to my own best abilities
There are many things to consider before building out any rig. Weight rating of a vehicle, suspension, transmission, tires, brakes, where will it be driven, etc. This is based on longevity of the vehicle, safety for self and others, legality and insurance, etc. Just saying.
I remember when this video came out. Hope it hits a million views!
This conversion is amazing.
Woow .... one of the best car conversion I have seen so far ..... congrats ... she gonna have a lot of fun 👍👍
Beautiful work, best I’ve seen on RUclips.
I have the same car and have wondered about sleeping in it and this was great - thanks.
Looks amazing and got so many good ideas from it! Thanks for the video!
This is the best build I have saw. I have a small camper, but your idea seems so much easier
Thanks for the ideas .
Your builds are getting better and more creative, nice work!
I would agree that you might want to clear coat w a durable finish to prevent moisture issues ..
Still awesome use of space 👍
You guys did a great job maximizing the space!!
I LOVE this - gives me hope!
one of the best camper builds i have seen. i would have hidden the cabinet hinges personally. i love this great design.
Great job on the design and build. Tight area to work with on an a Outback. Well done.
This is perfect. I want it for my jeep!
Brian your builds are always great bro !
coolest conversion
The best n genius use of space..
...nice work Solid Wood Worx,
way to go Shaun🧗🏼♀️
Nice build. Thank you for the video.
Nice build. Thanks for sharing.
Amazing setup, great use of the space. Well done!! :)
I WANT TO SOO DO THIS ON MY FORESTER..
THANKS FOR THE INSPIRATION!
Love the build! I'm on my 4th version of outfitting my 2001 Ford Explorer Sport. My third build was done by my son in law who is a finishing carpenter .. so we built all the cabinetry like you did. And where is it now? On the garage floor. I built a place where there was almost no room left for me! LOL Now I have my bed and that is a raised deck to level me out but has storage under it. Now all my cooking gear and food go into a 'larder' that I can remove and it becomes my seat outside and cooking area too. All my clothing now goes into stuff sacks that can be compressed .. the sacks are also waterproof. Now for sleeping or just relaxing I have way more room .. when I pack up, the big Plano plastic box has wheels on one end and I lift it in and strap in down .. all hard items in my rig are secured. Hope you don't take offense that I may be 'dissing' you work .. it is gorgeous .. just saying what I ended up doing.
That is amazing!! What a great use of space.
Well designed and well-executed build! It is amazing that you managed to fit everything on her list in the available space and did it so elegantly
Thanks for the link to the 50" drawer slides on Amazon.
Who cares
wow! this is amazing... congrats on the work guys!
That's a very good build.. very practical setup, nice design to make everything work
I just ordered an Outback and I already want this.
Would you mind to review your Outback please?
I'm looking one for this spring.
You are becoming the big dog in custom camper conversions. Im thinking of lifting my toyota sienna mini van and your skills might be of service!
I'd like to see if that happens! I have a Sienna as well.
Wow......this is so clever, wow. Love it.
Brilliant build. Love it.
WATERTANK is going to be heavy to manibulate other than for mending. Consider a pump and hose (or funnle). Otherwise truely excellent sample of execution(elegant efficiancy) (Mention perhaps that the type and thickness of wood can double the weight fast...)
Thats an awesome setup! Need this in Australia
Wow!! Super impressed !!👍👍👍👍
Wow! I have a minivan that I can use some of these ideas to build. Thank you! Excellent!
This is amazing.
This is perfect for stealth camping. Seems a bit heavy but maybe not. Also love the solar idea. I plan to trick out my next subie in the near future as well. Nice clean build though.
Really nicely and simply done...the way it should be
Really nice build!
Very cool design. It’s amazing that you can stay under the weight rating using wood instead of some type of synthetic material.
Been thinking of getting an Outback, definitely need to get one and do this! Great build out guys!
Barb R they’re great cars. I absolutely love mine. I owned a 1999 Legacy GT 2.5 previously. Didn’t hesitate to look for another Subaru a few years ago when I needed to replace the Legacy. The Outback has been a great choice.
Beware the dreaded and common head gasket leaks
Amazing! You people are geniuses!
Great job!
This is awesome! I want you guys to build my Forester out!
I could see myself with that setup.
Amazing idea
Great build, I need that!
Really cool 😎. Have an amazing weekend, Andreas 🇸🇪
I would mount the solar panel towards the front of the roof rack.
Having it angled upward like that is creating lift and a force trying to pull it off rather then pushing it down.
The organizer is amazing.
Ya we did end up moving it around!
Great use of space! Genius
Too freaking cool, I'm going to try something like this with my volvo. Great video...thanks
Wow, that is the coolest and most efficient SUV build out ever! Amazing job. You need to sell the blueprints to folks who want to DIY
It was really intricate but next oen i might try to make something simpler
자작캠핑카 참고용으로 좋아요^^. Very fantastic ^^
Very cool setup! I bet she’s going to get many years of adventures out of this rig.
Fantastic. I love this!
Well done. Looks like you may of had a fun time building something out of the ordinary.
awesome build! i think it would be good to have a door on the other side of that storage so you don't have to walk around to the other side of your vehicle if you forget something. you could just put a sliding door lock on that side so it doesn't come open when you put stuff in it. i'm referring to 4:17 of the video.
You rock Brian!
BRILLIANT!
