This house sits on a farmer's property who gave me permission to explore but I was unable to get any history from him on it. There was a calendar hanging from 1961-1962. There was a date of 1870 painted on one of the attic access doors, so maybe that is when the house was built? Hard to say for certain. He dismantled the barn in behind it, so I am guessing the house is next so he can utilize more of his land. He didn't want anything f'd up because he would be wanting his salvageable items in pristine condition. While exploring, I did notice some floor boards neatly cut away possibly to be utilized elsewhere. Thanks for joining me on this exploration! Enjoy! :)

This house is lost in the 40's/50's and it's absolutely a gorgeous, preserved example of the time. Wow. If anyone buys this I hope they keep most of it original - especially that 30's / 40's art deco bathroom.
This house looks in better condition than some places we have looked at to rent.
I think the house was built somewhere around 1870 on one of the attic doors upstairs I saw that.
That House has definitely been lived in since the 60th, that front porch renovation is definitely within the last 20 years also the electrical panel in the basement was newer then the 60th, you're correct on baseboard heating but it's not electric it's hot water, most likely the reason for two hot water heaters in the summertime when you don't need to use gas or heating oil you can have it shut off and just use the electric hot water heater, saves quite a bit of money.
In my opinion the place is very livable after a good cleaning and some repairs.

It appears to be a home where a child of the original owner started renovations and either ran out of money or time and the other children abandoned the dream. I may have some experience as I am such a child and I find myself running out of time. Human age tarnishes and does not shine anew. A labor of Love! Thanks Pam! Ralph.

Hey Pam, What an interesting house! I loved the upstairs with the awesome windows. Most of it looks in pretty good condition. The farmer must keep a close watch on it as there were no signs of vandalizing. Definitely one of he most well maintained abandoned ones I've seen! Thanks for sharing, I really enjoyed this one!! Great channel. I stumbled across your videos last night.
My wife an I bought one of these neglected 125 year old Ontario farm houses 14 years ago in the Ottawa valley, for next to nothing. Places like this are really a labour of love to restore. I don't think people realize the amount of hours work that it takes to properly bring these century + homes back to their original glory? Hopefully your rambles through these old beauties will inspire others to lovingly restore part of their history!
Definitely a labour of love. I can only imagine the amount of work involved to restore these places back to their glory, but I can also imagine it was well-worth it in the end. I admire you both for doing so. And welcome to my channel!

The layout of this house is so unique! Probably due to add ons. They obviously never added on to the upstairs of the house tho. I really enjoy when you walk us thru the entire house with hardly any stops of the camera. I love to see the layouts of all these houses and how all of the rooms are connected. U are so great at video tours! Keep up the super work and keep em coming!

really decent of the guy to give you permission. it appears that somebody renovated the downstairs in the late 60s, early 70s, but didn't bother with the upstairs. a really unique house.
This channel was so inspiring for my own exploring since I was first explored in summer of 2015
8.58 my grandmas both had these curtains in their houses when i was a kid...and i couldnt stand sleeping in those rooms,i always felt like someone was watching me through the windows
Yeah, they're pretty sheer. It wasn't until I got closer to them when it kicked in that my mother had those when I was growing up. This is the first time I've seen them since those years.
They have those same curtains in the Thomas house on the show "What's Happening" lol
***** yeah as soon as i saw those curtains i thought of my childhood and we had some that were moss green I remember sticking my fingers through the holes in them and catching heck for stretching the holes. lol
A great find for this house still retains some of cleanliness and elegance in spite of the long time I am a follower of your channel wonderful and so very happy Keep you strength you salute

I love the way you methodically explore a House, building, barn, you mostly work the same way every time, always smooth, not rushed. You do such a great job of finding clues as to who may have lived in the house, what year they left, gender, age, if there were kids or not, looking for items with dates like wall calender, newspapers, magazines. You are concerned for your viewers in that you will not show nudity, profanity, or stuff that that you do not feel would be in good taste to show on your channel. Sorry for the long post but I wanted you to know that your subscribers enjoy exploring with you more that you know. I check in every few days to see if there may be a new video, if not, I sometimes go back to some of your older ones and watch again. Take care Pam, and stay safe.

Great video as always Pam. Parts of this house on the first floor looked like with just a little work it could be lived in again, however, as we progressed up stairs it got much worse. I believe the damage begins when the roof is not re-roofed and starts to leak. the ceilings and walls start falling apart, mold starts growing due to the dampness. The wood starts to rot, all due to a leaking roof. I love these old houses, the cathedral windows were awesome.

This one was interesting parts looked good and even newer like the bathroom and some parts looked not so good like the upstairs ceiling It looked like it was very nice when it was lived in. like the woodwork. This house is a work in progress. bathroom was spotless CLEAN.as were other areas. obviously not abandoned as you spoke to the OWNER! Hope he was able to finish it. love your videos!

At 1:30 I love those cut out cathedral window tiny rooms, what a wonderful place to sit in a chair and have a little prayer 🙏 Their almost like a tiny chapel in the house. I love these old buildings because @ one time it was someone's home. I do not understand why people try to put feelings into a old home, scary feelings, something bad is going on..there's nothing going on, a happy family once lived here and now it's no longer safe why do people have to read anything more into these? 🏡🌾

Very nice place still. It looks like it wouldn't take too much to get it inhabitable again. I do find it strange that the bedrooms look so much more disintegrated than the other rooms. I wondered if the 1870 on the door was the year it was built also. Cool place.
This was a beautiful house, certainly not F'd up :) I think the house told it's own story, it belonged to someone who cared a great deal about it, thank you for showing it to me.

This house was probably built in the late 1850-60s. We've got a similar house here in Milwaukee that looks just like this one (it was built in 1851). The exterior brick looks old and original as well. It always amazes me how they where able to tuck little rooms under such small roof!

Beautiful house, I love the upstairs the most with the nice windows.
The bathroom sink at the begining looks like a more recent one, sink and top two tone one piece. The fuse panel in the basement is newer (last 25 years) and next time you see a gas/propane hot water tank see if there is build date on it's labels. Thanks for the upload, I enjoy them!

Another great find, even though it's empty. When you first looked down toward the basement, the stairway area quickly reminded me of the movie 'The Hand That Rocks The Cradle'. The basement stairs in that film was similar to this one. Again, thanks for posting the awesome videos! -- Alex.

Hello TIKI! Glad the owner let you in. Cool vid! Much mystery here. There were heating devices there that were manufactured after the calendar date you recorded. I imagine a house full of children. Cows, Pigs, Chickens. Corn fields. Vegetable gardens on the property. Big dog fed on table scraps. Just had a root canal on a molar! The meds will wear off soon!

***** The unit you mention as a 'furnace' is actually a hot water boiler plant. This unit heats up water in conjunction with a pump and moves it throughout the house in the cadet-style baseboard heaters. It can be really nice for heating and is sometimes used to also heat concrete floors and water pipes run through walls or ceilings. Unfortunately it has no cooling capabilities and doesn't provide air circulation like modern forced-air systems. Love your videos, keep it up.

I also admire the respect you show to what was left behind and the people that lived in the house. The curtain material with the holes used to be called sun filter here in South Africa. Perhaps around the 70's and possibly 60's. Well done!

It's not too bad, Pam. I love those upstairs windows, I hope he saves them. The house isn't in too bad of a shape, it would need some work. Sounds like he is going to tear it down. Sad.
Wow, another amazing house! I would love to fix it up, it has so much potential. The smoke detector and dryer outlet are fairly recent, within 15-20 years. The Rheem water heater and electrical panel are around 20 years old. That boiler has been replaced as well. I'd guess someone invested heavily in that house in the mid 90s. The new porch almost looks newer, so perhaps the house has seen several attempts at rehabilitation.
Oh, that other water heater in the corner is just the old one. Sometimes repairmen will just leave them behind if they're too much trouble to remove.
