I’ve seen celeriac but never knew what to do with the funny looking things! Thanks for the prep demonstration and soup recipe Vivi…. I’ll give it a try when they come in season here 😁
I have arthritic hands and find things like swede and celeriac are to hard for me to peel when whole. I find them much easier to handle if they are cut into thick slices first. I can then peel each slice individually. I can then cut it into chunks.
The soup looks yummy, I love most soups, I do prefer blended soup to chunky. Celeriac is not something I have used in soup but it is one I will be trying.
I’m ashamed to say I’ve never had celeriac, but this is another soup I’m definitely going to try. Can anything really top your leek and potato though? Impossible, surely? 😊
Hi Vivi ! I have never heard of celeriac -ever! Is it a popular UK veg; Europe in general ?? Does it taste like celery ? Never saw it in US markets… Very interesting to see how it’s used ! Resembles a rutabaga the way it’s prepped. No matter , sounds delicious. ❤xx
Hi ViVi Never had celeriac love celery though and parsnips I just bought a pressure cooker.Be making soup stew. So that would b a good vegetable..yum. Take care b safe..
I've never seen them in stores here in the U.S., sadly. I tried growing kohlrabi this past year and I think they didn't get enough water because only one produced a bulb and it was tough.
Never cooked with celeriac before. I just don’t think it’s as popular in the states. I’m going to be making and canning (bottling) some roasted veggie broth soon. Maybe I should add some to that!
I shall definitely try this soup, thanks Vivi 🙂 Will you be taking advantage of the 15p vegetable offers that have just started/are starting the the supermarkets?
I'm breathlessly awaiting your Treats for a Tenner video ... maybe you can spend a bit more given the economy. I must share that I wandered thru a British goods shop in NYC recently and bought myself a Cadbury Selection Box. I had never heard of a Selection box before watching your videos. Not sure where I'd buy a celeriac hear in NYC but I'm sure they can be found.
Gifts for a tenner gifts for a tenner ❤❤❤
Sweet potato or butter nut squash added or instead of potato is also a great addition to this soup. 😊
I was today years old when I learned about celeriac!
Hahaha....every day is a school day. 😉
Patiently waiting for treats for a tenner video!
Not long to wait..... 😉
At 71 I cannot believe I’ve NEVER cooked with a celeriac! Gonna rectify that ASAP. Thank you, Vivi, for a lovely “gateway” recipe. Happy Holidays.❤️🎄🥂
Yay, happy experimenting! 😊

A quite popular dish in Germany is the Celeriac Schnitzel (Sellerie Schnitzel), which can also be made vegan. I love it!

Great solution.
We can purchase pre cut veg here, but think for convenience only. Ontario Canada 🇨🇦🐝👋🏻
Thats my way .. 😊 I also have artritis.
The soup looks yummy, I love most soups, I do prefer blended soup to chunky. Celeriac is not something I have used in soup but it is one I will be trying.

Good video
Thank you Caroline. 😊
Never seen this veg, I have never liked raw celery but do use it some in cooking, your soup looks yummy 👋🇺🇸👍♥️🙏🎄
It's such a delicious veg. 😊
I cut the celeriac into slices and then remove the skin. I think that's easier..
That’s my way of peeling it. I do the same with swede.
@@patmartin9727 Yes.. 🍀🌹
Love roasted celeriac ... all the taste of celery without the colic!🤭
Oooh, yes, it's so good roasted. Especially if it doesn't upset your gut! 😉
👍👍👍
I’m ashamed to say I’ve never had celeriac, but this is another soup I’m definitely going to try. Can anything really top your leek and potato though? Impossible, surely? 😊

It IS delicious! I think it's more common in France than in England.
Here in Holland it's a populair veg..😊 Used in soup, stew and through mashed potatoes. ( half potatoes half celeriac) Delicious!
@ ooooo --thank you ….!!!❤️❤️
And you never guess what I was planning for my tea tonight? Celariac soup. Thank you Vivi. How timely is this? Big hugs.
Hahaha......add 'mind reading' to my CV. 😉

Have fun experimenting with your new pressure cooker.
I'm going to see if I can find celeriac 😊
I hope you can. 😊
Thank you vivi, that looked delicious.
Can I ask how big you Dutch oven is?
The cream one I use most often (and in this video) just about does 2 litres.....my grey Le Creuset one is more like 1.6 L. 😊
@WhatVivididnext thanks vivi.
Hiya Vivi, hmm what could next visit bring 🤔. Until then take care from a rainy night across the pond Southern Ontario Canada 🇨🇦🐝
See you soon. 😉
I've never seen them in stores here in the U.S., sadly. I tried growing kohlrabi this past year and I think they didn't get enough water because only one produced a bulb and it was tough.
Ach, yes, keeping them well watered can be difficult.
I don't know if you have ever heard of celeriac used in a Rosti recipe?! 😋😋😋 A Spanish dish I think. I'd recommend! Very indulgent! 💜
Ooooh, yes!
@WhatVivididnext now that's what I call 'emulsion'! Looks delicious. 😋
Is it time for your christmas for a tenner ? A selection box ( no your not eating sweets ) ! Take care Vivi. x
Very soon! It's the next one up. 😉
@@WhatVivididnextYes!!!!!!👍👍
If one doesn’t remove the greenery from the celeriac, will the root still bulk up?
I don't know, sorry. The leaves/stalks start to die back though so perhaps they would fall off anyway, without human intervention.
Never cooked with celeriac before. I just don’t think it’s as popular in the states. I’m going to be making and canning (bottling) some roasted veggie broth soon. Maybe I should add some to that!
Ooooh, it would be lovely roasted and added to your broth. Happy canning session. 😊
I shall definitely try this soup, thanks Vivi 🙂

Absolutely I will! 😁

My hands cant manage celariac, turnip or swede……which is a great shame as this soup looks lovely!
Oh that is a shame. 😉 I wonder if you can get them pre-chopped.....frozen perhaps?
@ i have seen frozen swede but not the others except maybe a bit of turnip in a stew pack
