    Hi, I have a very urgent query. I stupidly plucked off the flowers from my cactus because I read that deadheads can rot my cactus. Is there anyway to save them? I’ve can’t seem to find much information on San pedros. Would you be able to help?

  • @andreylavrenko3084
    @andreylavrenko3084 4 месяца назад

    So for example, if you pollinate Scopulicola x San pedro, what will new seed produce? 50%/50% hybrid. Or one would be more per dominant?

    How many years old will flowering happen from seed. And will the light cycle effect the flowering?

    How tall are the plants when they start to flower? Do you do anything to stimulate flowering?

    • @Binksterz420
      @Binksterz420 3 года назад +1

      It really depends how old the plant is

    • @sanpedromastery6262
      @sanpedromastery6262  3 года назад +2

      I don't do anything to stimulate flowering. I wish I knew a trick that could trigger flowering! It's mostly due to age, also to genetics (some strains or species flower more than others) and to environment/ weather (there are better years than others for flowering).

    • @Aussieknuckleheads

      Also root bound plants are more likely to flower or pup 😉

    Hi. I have a question.
    I want to try to make an apple cactus Cereus flower. I will buy a large cutting and put it next to a wide south-west facing window in Paris. But I have read that Cereus are self-sterile. I have a Cereus spegazzinii wich is supposed to be a heavy and easy bloomer, can I use it as a pollen donnor for a larger apple cactus Cereus?
    Also, judging by your accent, are you french?

    Can you pollinate the same flower with its own pollen?

      No

    • @sanpedromastery6262
      @sanpedromastery6262  3 года назад +1

      You need a different flower from a different plant. By different plant, I mean born from a different seed. For instance, 2 separate PC plants cannot produce seeds together because all PCs are the same plant (it's a clone, born from the same seed).

  • @aodh5022

    Thoroughly excellent and excellently thorough Jerry. I didn't realise that more than one flower could be produced by the same cactus... quite a beautiful display...I can't help wondering about the scent, if any?
    Is there a typical age that a healthy Peruvianus or Pachanoi might flower? what are the most influential factors that trigger flowering? age? stress? environment? such as photoperiod or temperature?
    Good to see another video, thank you.

    • @Binksterz420
      @Binksterz420 3 года назад +1

      It just needs to be a mature trichocereus to flower

    • @sanpedromastery6262
      @sanpedromastery6262  3 года назад +1

      Thanks for the kind comments! Scent is quite strong and lovely. The main trigger for flowering is age, although stress can sometimes be a booster but that means you would put the life of your plant in danger just to get a flower (I don't do that).
