They both launch so incredibly well. For the power it has the 911 Turbo S is so fast. It is the standard to which others are judged for quarter miles. 10.2 second quarter mile is real solid. The top end on the PLAID models is truly unique
The two cars have a nearly identical power to weight ratio. And they both have excellent AWD systems so launching performance (assuming that both drivers launch perfectly and both cars are using tires of similar performance) is similar between them too. The only other big factor in play here is air drag, and although the Model X has a larger frontal area since it is a tall SUV, the 911 has lots of air vents to cool its engine which creates drag, which explains why it lost the first time. But the two following races the Porsche won since it launched better. So that explains the outcome of the races.
@@beanapprentice1687 I'll help out a little here. The Tesla has a nominal drag co. of 0.24. The Porsche, even at its most slippery through the air has a drag co. of 0.33.

@@Markcain268 doesn't mean you can't nerd out about technical details of an EV. Cars are challenging to build, an EV just introduces a different set of challenges and hurdles to what you would in a typical ICE car. Stuff like battery cooling, motor speed, as well as whether or not you should fit a transmission in there. Porsche decided to go with a two speed gearbox in their taycan so that the motor can perform better at higher speeds. Tesla chose not to because transmissions induce parasitic losses and hurt powertrain efficiency, so they decided to try to get their motors to spin as fast as they can (20,000 rpm) over a single speed reduction gearbox.

The X is not a track car. It is 5,000+ pounds. Of course, it fits 7 people much easier than the Porsche. And the max torque from near 0 RPM is so much fun. Driving mine never gets old. Even more fun in some ways than our BMW M3 was.
okay so matt, i have an idea to maybe bypass the soft limiters. So get your car upto speed a bit, then go neutral and rev your engine while the car is still moving
