    A very nice job on this! An easy subscribe, notifications, like and comment for the creator. As noted, the Aspen Fuel is a winner with me as well. I've got a Toro 826 OXE (perhaps a Canadian model) and I'm in a similar situation to this one. The shop I've used is FUBAR and I think I have to try this investigation / cleaning on my own. Your video has given me the confidence to try! Thanks!
    And - I ran Aspen fuel only for the first 5 years, stabalized gas for a few years after that. It used to start so easily I never used the electric assist! Last season it would start but would only run with choke set almost closed - to run. Now, it won't start. I was looking for where to start - your video - was it!

    Sense I started using ethanol free fuel, I haven't had any more carburetor issues. If available in your area, I highly recommend using it. It is about the price of 91 octane E10 fuel.

      Unfortunately, I haven’t found the nearest gas station by me that sells it, but I couldn’t agree more that it is cheap insurance 👍🏻

    Now that is one gummed up carb from using ethanol fuel and letting it sit. In Canada we are lucky enough to still be able to get no ethanol fuel at some fuel stations in the 91 Octane level only now a days. There are rumblings that our government may require all octane levels to have some ethanol in the upcoming year. When this happens we will be going back to the 5% ethanol blend fresh fuel only for running but when it comes time for storage we will be running equipment dry installing a litre of alkylate fuel either Kinetix, Aspen or Gulf Pro Fuel available in both 2 and 4 cycle presently costing around $10 Cdn per litre.

    At EP we rarely change the pilot jet O rings just spray with silicone spray and reinstall works everytime. Unless it has been damaged by others if they have tinkered with it.

    • @hester781

      I agree, the main reason I change these was because I was told someone had already tried to rebuild the curb, and I didn’t want to chance it lol

      I’ve had to open up quite a few over the years, the just make them run so dam lean that the slightest problem makes them surge

    Nice video! I have the 724 QXE that should have a similar or same carb. I'm noticing that when I tilt the machine back to push it into garage, the carb is leaking over the carb bowl. I noticed on this video that when you took the bowl off, there was no seal, and you put one on after. I haven't taken the bowl off of mine yet, but thinking that's the cause of my leak. If there is a seal on mine, then I have no idea why it's leaking and it's driving me nuts. I've read that tipping these to a certain angle does cause leaking, but this leak seems extreme to me...

      Hi, so at 1:41 you can see the bowl gasket on the blue paper towel. That could definitely be what is causing your leak, there are generally only three reasons, fuel escapes the carburetor, those are the bowl gasket, the bowl nut gasket, or a leaking needle and seat. The fact that yours only seems to leak when you tilt it back tells me it’s most likely your bowl gasket that needs replacing 👍🏻

      Okay, yeah I just checked and there is a seal on mine, but may be warped. Just ordered a carb kit from Amazon that includes the float and seal. I was just reading that the float can be punctured for whatever reason and become useless, so I'll just replace both while I'm in there. Thanks!@@hester781

      Just for my own sanity…should the carb leak at all if it’s tipped or is some leaking expected? I would expect a little leakage if I tipped the whole thing upside down but I’m not doing that with gas in the tank 😂

    • @hester781
      @hester781  5 месяцев назад +1

      @@jllupin33 generally speaking no, if the float is working and set to the proper level and all seals are good, the carb should not leak when tipped to a normal degree. If you have it tipped back drastically then I would expect to see some fuel spill out.

    I have the identical 8240E snowblower. At the end of your video. The snowblower was starting to hunt. That is exactly my problem. Am I to understand that drilling out that plastic jet can solve my problems?

    • @hester781
      @hester781  8 месяцев назад

      Yes, drill it out one size larger and that should fix it 👍🏻 assuming the carb is clean and the fuel is good

    Hey guy, I am having a problem with a high and low idle it's surges not a steady idle. I ckeck in side carburetor clean and looked at the jet blow it out nothing Do think it could be that Honda pilot jet The engine is Japanese but looks like the Honda pilot engine looks like the same one as Harbor freight and i have a Honda pilot on my log splitter .well anyway what do you think it could be i always put no ethical gas 91 in it since day one. Toro power max 826 OAE 252 cc engine it surges high and low idle some black smoke like it's staving 😮😅 thanks Dave,

    • @hester781
      @hester781  9 месяцев назад

      Definitely sounds like the pilot Jet is the issue. If you find that it is clean and those O-rings are not torn, you may need to drill the Jet out one size larger. I’ve had to do this with several Honda style carburetors.
