Never thought I would say this but it sounds better with the tip Thank you for the video I never would’ve thought it made that much of a difference
Haha yeah man I was surprised at the difference when I first put it on too🤘🏻
I’m going to say keep the tip! Honestly it’s hard to tell over video. Thanks for another great video. Appreciate your energy!
I agree bro! Wish it was easier to hear the difference in video, either way I still like how it sounds with the tip better🤘🏻
@@NoHalfAss I lost my tip off my lb7 keep the tip trust me I can't stand the sound of mine right now
@@iiviinstiinct3064 hahaha for sure bro! Sorry to hear that though!
@@NoHalfAss mines only 4inch straight going 10inch tip. Haven't decided axle dump or out the back stock
A big factor in the sound on an axle dump is the angle and distance the end of the exhaust is from the ground. Adding a long tip makes a lot of the rumble reverberate off the ground because its so close to the road.
That’s true bro! Makes perfect sense💯
Yes, but an axle dump is an unappealing exhaust. Dirty system
I like the way it sounds without the tip it reminds me of jets flying by at fast speeds 🤘
Haha hell yeah bro!!🤘🏻🔥💯
Just the tip.
Keep the tip bro. The noise it makes is a lot deeper and sounds like an animal. That truck is an absolute beast btw. Love the vids and keep em coming. 😎👍
I agree bro, and thank you!🤘🏻
Tip definitely sounds better I came here with that exact question, and now I have my answer ! Thanks!
Brother the beast sounds amazing!! I believe either way it has a beastly sound!! Good call on keeping the tip, it looks awesome on the truck!!
Thanks bro!! I agree🤘🏻
Love the deeper sound with tip. Enjoy your videos alot
Me too bro! And thank you! Glad you enjoy them🙌🏻
I do also enjoy the deeper rumble with the tip at higher rpm but I’m a sucker for turbo whistle lol
Hahaha saaame bro!😂
Still waiting for that dash/interior swap lol. That would be an epic video. I know there’s some dash swap vids out there already, but I want to see it on your rig! Cheers!
Sounds. Better. With. Tip
Thanks for taking the time.
Absolutely with the tip thanks for the video man!!!
Thanks for watching I’m glad you enjoyed it!!
I would say leave the tip on. I’ve got 5” straight pipe on my 7.3 and a 8” tip as well with Hydra as well. Can still hear my turbo just as good with tip on.
Nice bro!! I agree, I’ll probably just throw it back on🤘🏻
I like the way it resonates without the tip lol
No disrespect, you do a great job with your videos man. But personally you couldn’t get me to believe there’s a big enough difference to make a good comparison. The biggest differences are
#1 Muffler #2 piping size #3 resonator #4 Catalytic converter. Straight piped 5” is loud and i don’t see an 8” tip effecting airflow much at all
Yeah man it was even hard for me to hear the difference in the video so I understand. You can tell more on person for sure. I also don’t have a professional mic and just use my iPhone for my videos. Lmao
@@NoHalfAss I seen a app where it’s a decible meter. Maybe that will help. And I stand corrected on the sound. Someone measured a 1-2decibel difference on a 4” exhaust from a 5” to a 6” tip. Good video, I’ll keep watching.
Look at all the spam accounts, from talking about a 8 inch tip lol.
John Matrix damn what the hell?!?! 😂🤣🤣 so weird
Just an idea bro maybe make a video put in the extended Piece inside the tip Or maybe that be too much trouble just an idea Love the video🤘
No tip is my vote! Love hearing the pop!
So I'm the only Detroit diesel guy, what a shame for NoHalfAss, to young to understand I guess.
My brothers 7.3 whistles like my 03' 6.0 ten blade 99% of the whistle is from the exdeucer side in the turbo but his got loud after he did a bigger downpipe no cat. His truck is a manual so maybe they come with a differant ar to increase spool between shifts, I never seen the gains from big tips but seen guys with 6.0s lose whistle after bigger up pipes and downpipes if you ever see those oem tips with the louvers like on 6.4s that people hack off cause smooth look better are ideal for performance louvers somehow create a vacuum or increase velocity on the exhaust flow
Hahaha!! You go a white puppy with black trim to match the truck! You need doggy stairs so the pup can get in!
Hahahaha 🤣🤣🤣🤣
If you like the tip then keep the tip my man! Sounds awesome either way
Yeah man you’re right 🤘🏻😎
Tip i feel like gives the truck a deeper growl. But in terms of whistle theyre pretty much the same. I think it makes a bigger difference with 4” exhaust
Always good to start with just the tip
Love the tip! Looks and sound.
I agree bro!🤘🏻
I’m gonna say to keep the tip. I love hearing the whistle but the deep throaty sound rocks. Thanks for the video
Same bro!! And I’m glad you enjoyed the video🤘🏻
I personally like the grunt and look of the tip. To each their own though.
Yeah I agree bro🤘🏻
Bad ass truck and badass dog much respect
Thank you!
I think it sounds better with the tip man. Great looking truck!
I agree now bro! And thank you!🙌🏻
cant wait do a 15 inch tip onn my stock 85 mercedes 300d
I like the look of your truck with the tip , I say keep the tip bro
Thanks bro, I agree🤘🏻
Cool! I never knew they made a difference.
It’s a lot harder to tell in the video than it is in person, but yeah they do make a pretty big difference. The tip makes it sound much deeper and aggressive, but no tip has a lot more turbo whistle 👍🏻
@@NoHalfAss I have a mint 1989 crew cab with a non turbo 7.3 idi in it, I’m going to see how it sounds with a tip on it
Nice bro thanks you for tip I’m put That pipe In my 99 7.3
I agree i like the deep rumble with the tip on you can still hear the whistle tho
🤘🏻🔥💯
More turbo whistle the better, but I say leave it on as it looks much better on an axle dump.
I agree bro!🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Keep it the way you like it
Amazing truck in either way sounds awesome but I prefer no tip ! I believe it follows the massiveness of the rest, that big tip is like a joke " in my opinion "
Thanks bud!🤘🏻
I think no tip looks cooler and more classic
Thanks for the vid paul wall lol i like without the tip
Cause I understand your talking about like the take off whistle but whats the whistle when you first start it and it just whistles ? While running the whole time?
Turbo runs on exhaust pressure, at idle there’s some but not enough to build boost that’s why you hear it, when you shut it down you can hear the impeller wind down
Like 👍the Tip Sounds
Im running a 5 inch straight pipe and intake and 180cc0% injectors kcx300x 63/70 mm turbo and edge evolution cts2 on tow tune. Looking to get a custom chip since truck is quite smoky and would like to clean that up a bit. I dont think a tip on my trk with 5in straight pipe would change any thing. My tailpipe is custom as kits dont fit cab n chassis. My exhaust in front of axle goes straight up and follows my 5in bed frame to get past my axle and drops down to 90 out the side. Worked perfect so doesnt interfere with the trl hitch/rear bumper bars
That’s cool bro! Your truck must be pretty quick. What size tires you running?
How do you get like the sucking in sound when you let off the throttle
Honestly bro I think it’s just from letting off when you have the RPMs high. It’s always done that, I didn’t do anything special to make that happen. The bigger intake did make it a little louder though.
I'm going to say keep the tip !!!!👍👍
🤘🏻🔥💯
i love the whistle. i stop watching the video, when you said that you lose the whistle with the bigger tip.
I got a f250 1997 7.3l im trying to put a tip on it but my pipe is exactly 4inches what can i do ? Is there any tips that give a bit more space
Keep tip on
U leave it on 140 go tune ? I hope not you will fry the motor and trans
I have 01 with 320kish miles how much did all the turbo stuff cost and up pipes etc
So question… if you take a stock straight Pipe it & Add like an 8 inch tip you’ll get that whistle? No need to change turbo?
Tip is gonna hide the whistle with the rumble, I just cut my axel dump off, if just have a 3” straight pipe, turbo is way louder, but I have a 6.5, the turbo screams
I’d say leave it as is bro.cant really tell much a difference over the video.i think with the tip sound better then again just my opinion
Yeah bro I think you’re right!🤘🏻
Sounds good either way but to me sounds better with the tip on it
Definitely more whistle than the tip after the throttle blip.
I don’t think the tip really muffles the turbo that much. No difference in turbo sound to me
Unless you're next to a sound barrier of some kind (wall, jersey barrier, thick vegetation) you're not gonna hear much a difference from the driver seat. But the people you pass by will hear ALL of it and there's a saying that goes "stance makes her dance, spool makes her drool" I have a GTP-38R backed by a 5 inch true single straight pipe in my raggedy ass 7.3 that i get complements on regularly. People think I run a rat rod but its really just a rusted out 2001 that the City of Boston didn't take care of worth shit but I can say the spool attracts the ear and if I was a betting man I'd say weld that stinger back in there and let the people hear that jet engine under the hood! Everyone will know who's coming before they can even see you when they hear that spool from blocks away and that's something that's been lost in the diesel world with these newer common rail engines in recent years.
Good points bro! Question: what do you mean when you say “weld that stinger back in there”??
From what I understand removing the tip could cause transmission problems. 🤪
Hahahahaha!😂😂😂
I’d definitely keep the Tip man
I think you’re right bro!🤘🏻
Imo sound so much better without the tip more whistle louder sound is always better if it's to loud ya to old
I love how it sounds without the tip too. The whistle is so much more noticeable. You can’t even tell in the video as much as in person. I just think it looks better with the tip.
@@NoHalfAss I'm from Australia and own a d40 Nissan navara it's very stock and I really want to get the sound of my turbo louder but really dunno wat I'm doing it's my first turbo diesel and only my second fourby ever
How dose that work you have that lift an no t case drop never mind I see what you did is that a 12 inch lift
For sure better with the tip
I agree bro!🤘🏻
Rollin coal with cali plates? How’d u get away with that 😂
Hahaha no cop has ever bothered me 🤷🏻♂️😂
Imagine all the people like what the fuck is that guy doing back there
Hahaha trust me bro I stress about that every time I make a RUclips video 😂🤣
Keep the tip for sure
🤘🏻🔥💯
how do you get that whistle on idle.. new to diesel plz help
Big straight pipes
No tip I like the whistle
🤘🏻🔥
Tip sounds better
By the end I felt the same way!🤘🏻
I prefer with a tip, I run 4" straight pipe on my 7.3 with a 10" octagon. Tip was $140 but well worth it
Nice bro! I agree🤘🏻🔥💯
Keep up the good content! #NoHalfAss
Thank you bro!🤘🏻
You're welcome, looking forward to more videos!
@@tahkodamartin6610 those tips are the absolute worse lmao
I've recently bought a f350 with nothing but a short pipe ,,,does that affect the performance with no muffler?
Yeah they usually recommend straight piping these trucks. So no cat and no muffler. That’s how mine is too🤘🏻 makes the truck sound cool and helps performance, but very very little by itself.
Ty sir,,yours sounds great with tht tip,,thts the way I'm gunna go too thnx
Awesome
for my opinion, with tip have less whistle turbo sound..
I agree bro!!
So is the 7.3L straight piped?
Mine is. But they don’t come straight piped
Tip sounds a lot deeper and better keep it
By the end of this test I felt the same way bro!
Tip sounds better imo.
I think so too bro🤘🏻
No tip in my opinion, but the truck sounds great either way
I noticed when I was doing this test that even without the tip there still wasn’t as much turbo whistle as there was before I added the axle dump. I think it’s a combo of adding more pipe/more bends, and the exhaust faces the ground now which probably muffles it a bit too.
Maybe you guys can help me with my 7.3...i have changed alot small things do to a mis fire at red light while iding or a stop is thete anything else I could look at that could be causing that? It seems to do it after it warms up some...and sometimes it doesn't do it at all...then bam it comes back.
Can you explain a little more what you’re experiencing when you say “misfire while idling”??
The injector harness my 96’s original harness was how many years old... between them not being touch for decades and then I changed injectors and then had a rusted leaking oil pan and with the the front crossmember not being removable you have to undo quite a bit on top of the motor in order to lift the engine upward 7-8 inches in order to drop the pan enough to clear Pupko and to clear the crossmember really shitty time but from that type of movement it split and cracked the harnes and wire coating at spots and it would run fine and every ounce and while noticed I’d do a boosted launch or jumped on it making the engine move enough it would lose everything sputter and would shut down at times and won’t start some time like at all couldn’t see it was shorting out but as I tried cranking it over for the tenth time after being on the side of the highway for many hours waiting for buddies who couldn’t anwnser their phone I was so pissed I slammed the door mods crank and the ticking thing fired rite up and was fine until few weeks later went to launch it and it shut off and I was out on my first round race at The Buck in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania during their 300ft dirt drags o learn by frustrated wiggling that something in there was fuck I orderedd new injector harnes installed it and it was great after that
Do you have a 6.4 or a 6.7 starter on that thing?
It’s a high torque starter for the 7.3 🤘🏻 amzn.to/37i7Qft
No difference whatsoever... 🤦🏼♂️
No tip sounds better
Are you in Cerritos/Norwalk area? Looks am awful lot like by my grandmas

sounds great but that's gotta be the one of the stupidest looking trucks I've ever seen and as someone in Kentucky there's plenty of trucks rolling around
I’m so hurt
My vote is slide that tip back and forth til your chick says it's just right! But really...will you get the best of both worlds by running the tip half-way...whistle and grunt? Solid videos man. Oh and you probably knows this but you're starting to have a Good problem...you're gaining views...but with that is more attention from CHP and all that shit, just he careful what you reveal as your following grows....and it IS growing!
Hahahaha 😂 not sure bro, I can definitely test it out 🤔 and yeah you’re probably right. I’d definitely leave Cali if they ever decided to mess with me cuz of my videos 😂🤣

Keep the tip. When you let off an your hear the turbo almost sounds like it’s blowing Did your old turbo make that noise? I have a BD thruster turbo an it doesn’t make the noise. But that blowing sounds so badass when you let off. I’m sure it’s the turbo but just seeing if I can get my turbo to make that blow sound. I’m sure this comment makes zero fucking sense 🤣🤦♂️
Totally makes sense bro, I get what you’re saying. My stock turbo made that sound too. It didn’t really start until I got my stock turbo over like 20 psi. How much do you get?
I’m not sure man, my boost Gauge isn’t hooked up still. On my to do list. So I just need to get my psi over 20 then is what it sounds like.
No guarantees but that was kinda when mine started
Im Sorry you live in California...thats can't be something you're proud of.
