Everyone talks about Joey, but what about the guy who plays Nick? He aced the role. If you watch interviews of Nicolas Godejon, it’s shocking how similar the guy who plays him acts in the show.

gypsy was a victim. not some master manipulator. she was an abused, manipulated child. mistreated and cut off from the world and deprived of normalcy by her mother. she does NOT deserve 10 years in prison. she needs therapy and a chance to start over, and i'm so glad she's doing so much better. even in prison she's happier and has much more freedom than she did with her mother.

the fact is that Gypsy did discover that most of her sickness were lies created by her mother and she was intelligent enough to fugure out right from wrong . What the court tried to show her was that yes her mom was a bad mom but she had the choice to leave rather than killing her or ask a boyfried to do it . And they were right . In order to punish a bad person she became a bad person herself and she ends up being abused by her mother even after her death .See where i'm getting here ? it would have hurt DeeDee a lot more if she stayed alive and had to be alone for the rest of her life and being disgraced in the public eye and dying alone years later in an hopital bed asking for gods forgivenss . thats the punishement that she deserved . asking for an absolution for a long time but would never come .. By killing Gypsy actually made her a favour and she is the one that ended up paying for her mothers mistakes once again

I once saw a documentary from nicks side. The more research i did into this case, the more I realise that its quite possible that gypsy was manipulating nick, someone who is easy to manipulate, to help her in her quest to escape. Gypsy was, and is, smart. It's quite possible that she learned how to manipulate as she was growing up through seeing her mother manipulate others. Hence, the stealing the necklace. She could have manipulated nick into thinking she loved him, making him love her, playing out this fantasy of the perfect couple, so she could escape. I'm not saying this is definitely true. At the end of the day, we'll never know whether she is really this master manipulator and is just manipulating us into believing she's innocent. Or she really is innocent and was just a victim. We'll never know. But just bare this stuff in mind.
The casting for this show was absolutely perfect.

Actually she’s only 19. Her mother lied about her age also, so in her health insurance it says she’s 23 buts she’s not. If you watch the real interviews on part 3 or 4 ( sorry I dont remeber) she states her mom lied about her age. There’s more to the age lying actually really interesting.
Ok summary, Gypsy and her mom are survivors of hurricane t. When this happened Gypsy’s birth certificate got washed away and when they went to get it done again the hospital messed up and put the wrong age, yet the mother never decided to change it.

I don’t understand how a child pass from doctor to doctor and even get a whole through her belly and no medical professional picks up on her mother’s fraud. It’s shocking to believe that Gypsy was a victim of not only her mother but the health system. She can’t be punished for this horrible mess in her life but compensated instead.
Because the American health system sucks , and because of that those stories only happen in the usa
I think gypsy said in one of the interviews that before they went to a doctor her mom would give her certain medication to show the symptoms of a certain disease that they were going for to the hospital so she would give them the medicine before so she shows symptoms so when they go to the doctors the doctors can diagnose her.

This was one of the best performances of acting I’ve ever seen in my life.
Started watching this because of Patricia Arquette being in it and ended up blown away by both her performance and Joey's performance. Eight episodes were no where near enough for me I could've easily watched 50, this show grips you from the start I didn't want it to end!

Props to Hulu's casting crew. They did such a good job! The selection of the actors/actresses was just outstanding especially for the 3 major characters Dee, Nick and Gypsy.

from the casting , to the acting, to the accuracy in the plot. this film was amazing.
The actor who played Nick Godejon did just as well as Joey, such an accurate portrayal right down to his mannerisms and body language.

Their goal wasnt to make a documentary but to make a drama series based on gypsys story. When you look at the parts that the show got "wrong" about her life you can almost everytime understand why the choice "the act" made was better for cinematic reasons.
Its more that many things of the story in the act are totally not how it happend, and thats sad.
I just finished the series today and woooow. I am amazed by Patricia Arquette and Joey King's performance, specially Joey's because her character was extremely nuanced and had such an incredible evolution. Some stellar acting there, they definitely deserve an award in the next Emmys or Golden Globes.

She’s so incredibly well cast. A haunting story
I honestly had my doubts about Joey King playing this role. She's just so bubbly and bright but that actually played to her advantage in this role in terms of the manipulation. I saw her in Roma and Besus when I was really young and then saw her a few years later in Slenderman (which was terrible all around) and then I saw she was gonna be in this and I almost didn't watch it but then I saw clips of the show on Instagram and gave it a shot. Joey King blew me away in this, she was absolutely amazing. I watched videos of the real Gypsy and it's phenomenal how much Joey channels her and is HER!

A girl who since childhood grew up in the world of cinema and knows how to interpret pain, injustice, lack of knowledge of reality and constant pressure in the life of Gypsy! congratulations sweet girl ❤❤

This serie was one of the best series I've ever seen.
Everything was on point, the performances were so on point, all of them did a great job, it was very convincing. There was a moment in one of the last episodes that I really thought I was seeing the real Gypsy and Dee Dee.
The script was super well built and the situations so well done. The series is a rollercoaster of thrills and certainly a bit crude to see.

Yeah I watch The Act sometimes and just think "Wow, I can't imagine Gypsy would like this." Not to mention they call her a "character" the entire time throughout this video which feels very weird to me. Shes a real person who actually experienced these traumatic and life changing things and for them to boil it down to her just being a character is just....gross.

Gypsy was a victim here she's a child when her mother started abusing her she didn't know any better she thought it's the only way. She was scared that her mom would just find her again after she leaves since she tried that before. she doesn't have any other adult to talk to. I was shocked that they sentenced her to 10 years in prison instead of putting her in a mental health facility for therapy. I hope they offer her help once she get's out or at least I hope her dad would support her a bit for guidance.

The feeding tube i think it's the single most important thing in realizing the pain Gypsy Rose must have felt. That's just horrible and horrifying to imagine and really realize her mother did that to her.

I know another child who was put in a similar position to gypsy by her mother; it's no joke because the child is usually under an even tighter psychological than physical stranglehold. If you even suspect you see behavior like this going on, don't stand idle
