I think the valve was purposely cut ,in order to keep a chunk, that will become a sort of sleeve beading to retain the rotating shaft(sikh) as the valve material is in bronze or brass. Less friction with steel.
Pretty freeking good !!! Loved watching you through the whole process :-) One shortcoming ... the coals/charcoal starts at the bottom & works upwards, now near the end the coals are only at the bottom as the fire burns down :-( the top is not as well cooked as the delicious bottom half. Yet ... GREAT !! Thank you :-) Ted & Rosie - Downunder
I'm impressed! Instead of using charcoal, given that you already have a motor wired up to it, using an electric element mounted vertically on the back wall would give you even heat for cooking from top to bottom. Regardless, great ingenuity and well done!
@@crackedfingerz Charcoal only provides flavor if the meat juices drip onto it, get partially combusted and vaporized, and the vapor deposits on the food. That won't happen in this machine because the charcoal is on the side, where the meat juices can't drip on it.
Nice build. Although here in Greece is pretty much easier to dial the number and order some giros sandwiches 😅. Homemade of course is better but imagine to have a party of 4 to 5 people waiting for the meat to be roasted... Better pick up that phone...
Very nice fabricated idea.you seem to be a good craftsmanship. Most of the comments you received from abroad. They r all foodie guys. Once again i appreciate your talent. God bless.
After he showed what can be done with an old gas bottle I had some ideas how to modify it too. The sky's the limit! I want to modify it to use a long lp burner from an old grill for a heat source, a bottom drain with a catch pan underneath, no open hole on the top but use one 1" pipe with a flue to control the heat...which allows it to be used as a smoker too, and another attachment that holds metal kebob skewers instead of the one spindle for gyro meat. But yup...the sky is the limit for modifications. I just want to know where he got the drive ring and what motor he used. Maybe it's all in the description...I just haven't read it yet.
I'd use lp to start the coals and then turn it off. The flavor of coal is worth the time spent. Removable drip pan for fat and juices and a dustpan type design with handle to catch cut meat rather than the plate. .
you could use a Nema23 or Nema34 motors for example :) Then use an arduino nano or something to control the stepper drivers , and you can have variable speed and all kinds of things you want
@@madeingr1 Exactly what I thought too. lol He didn't make it easy to just run out to an auto salvage yard with a specific type of car to scavenge parts from did he. lol
I just put a whole roast on my weber BBQ kettle and smoke it. Then take it out when its done. I then slice it up add a handfull of dry crushed mixed herbs and lots of fresh garlic and the MBF Yiros Seasoning mix as well as so.e garlic salt. I add a good amount of vegetable oil to the big hot pan or bbq plate and put all the meat with seasonings and herbs in there. Stir it around till all coated fairly evenly then put in a container or zip bags portioned or not fridge or freezer. Can't be any simplier.
Hello there, good work 👍👍👍. Can you help me doing one? I liked it but I have now some problems with my hands, can't no longer use them properly, thx for your kind help
1) All that work and the knife is blunt. 2) Instead of making a grid from scratch, why not just use an expanded metal grid cut to size, with it's own hinges, to facilitate easy cleaning? 3) invert the motor and have it sit alongside the gyro, rather than hanging off the bottom? Now you can put the whole thing on a table and make it portable. 4) You get these nifty-dandy little flexible magnetic strip rulers that help you draw straight lines on curved surfaces like a gas cylinder. 5) Add a hole in the bottom for a fat drain, with a tap or bung, and add a heat-resistant seal around the motor shaft, unless you want your whole gear assembly lubricated by chicken fat and the excess ending up on your paving.
