You don't have to watch in slow motion to see Kovolev got robbed, but it sure help's shut the haters up, Ward had no answers to Kovolev's vicious power except to fight dirty, Ward was so desperate he started wrestling along with low blows and clinching and anytime he did connect with Kovolev the big man just ate them up, when you see Ward sitting in his corner after each round he was totally F*kked but all the SOG fan's where like Kovolev is gassed, yeh right , can't wait for the re-match, it's so sad that such an awesome sport is still to this day full of corrupt officials, the same thing that happened to Pacquiao vs Mayweather and the 750ml IV Gate we're still waiting for proper answers not the mumbling word's from USADA as the letter addressed to Thomas Hauser still hasn't answered the question of why was Floyd allowed to use an IV and how NSAC handled the situation and didn't overturn the results

Excellent video. Not only was Ward comprehensively outboxed - Ward being the ‘supreme boxer’ of course! - but he should have lost a point or two for repeatedly fouling. Instead, those clear fouls were counted as Ward’s success! Disgraceful corruption.

assuming you counted all of the punches correctly & fairly, lets assume kovalev outlanded ward. either way, this isn't amateur boxing, it's not all about total punches landed. ring generalship aka (making the opponent fight your type of fight) is just as important. from round 3 on, it was an andre ward fight. not saying he won all those rounds, a lot of those were close, but because he dictated the style & tempo, judges are going to lean his way in close rounds.

ONLY an extremely biased person would say Ward won. But even then, Stephen A. Smith (who ALWAYS goes for the black defensive fighters) said Kovalev won the fight. He landed more, threw more, landed the harder shots, landed more power shots, landed a much higher percentage of head shots, was the aggressor, got a knockdown, did not intiate a bunch of clinches, AND he was the defending champion. NO WAY IN HELL can you give a unanimous decision to Andre Ward unless you're fucking predisposed to him before the fight even starts. This is a robbery on the level of Pacquiao-Bradley 1, except in this one Sergey got a knockdown.
Great vid as usual however I don't count little love taps in clinches while waiting for the ref to break it up as scoring punches. Kov still won by wide margin tho.

JEFF COTTO yeah I watched that fight I am from new zealand and I am a parker fan but I thought ruiz won the fight by 7 rounds but it could've been a draw like the phillapino judge scored. I gave ruiz the close rounds cos he was the Effective Agressor.

Even Floyd Mayweather stated that Kovalev won the fight. Floyd says to watch the first fight on mute. He clearly out boxes him... and a knockdown. The second fight was all head butts and low blows from the “Andre Ward Handbook”... how to achieve victory by low lows, head butts... Boxing the American way... Praise be to Jesus!!!
Everytime ward got hit he backed off. he didn't know what to do. couldn't exchange at all. I hate how people say kovalev didn't do anything last 3 rounds. he hurt ward again in the 11, chased that bitch all night.
I respect referees but you can't tell me that Byrd had it out for Kovalev throughout the fight. Constant warnings to get Sergey unhinged while he's constantly getting abused by the low cheap shot and wrestling by Ward. A referee's job is maintain a sense of balance. He didn't do that and I think he was just as controversial as the scorecards. In th he second fight they need to get rid of Byrd and take control of the boxers in the ring. Great video AB.

It's fucking bullshit how Kovalev was warned for the couple of times he did dirty shit but Ward was doing dirty shit the whole damn fight and didn't get one warning. Maybe like a token warning at best. Weeks has more honor than Byrd, so hopefully we'll get a more fairly officiating fight the 2nd time around.

This video is an example on how *NOT* to score fights.
You're supposed to judge a fight on clean, effective, punching. That doesn't mean counting every little touch that happens and then adding them up. In professional boxing 1 good punch is greater than 10 insignificant touches. So when you solely focus on is the # of touches, and ignore the effectiveness and cleanliness of the hits, you don't get an actual representation of the fight.
Not to mention they’re counting illegal punches where Kovalev had Ward in a literal front headlock. They’re probably also leaving out punches for Ward considering how biased this whole video is towards Kovalev.
I had Kovalev winning by one point but I don’t think this is as bad a robbery as these comments will have you believe.
@@baboon1233 when I first watched the match, I thought it was close. But later I figured out that I was heavily influenced by HBO's unofficial judge Harold Lederman. Harold made it sound like every hit Kovalev was landing was making Ward cough out blood. When I looked at the match objectively, it was a clear win for Ward.
Round 3 of that match is the best example. Ward landed several clean punches on Kovalev, but somehow Harold gives that round to Kovalev. Harold said Ward's punches weren't hurting Kovalev. And Harold talked the same in the 2nd match (right up until Ward stopped Kovalev).
Kovalev gave the harder and cleaner shots by far, many of Ward's punches were soft taps.

Feel so bad about Kovalev. First fight he won no doubt, 100 percent robbery. I watched it couple of times and still don`t know where they saw more points by Ward. But the second fight was bad. He came into the ring with the anger and you don`t do that unless you are Tyson. He needed clear mind. But than when you are angry and you got dirty punches you start feeling more anger and you start acting reckless. I think that`s what happened. But the stoppage in the second fight was absolutely non sense. Don`t even want to see the third fight, because it might get even worse (
