I Built a Go Kart Jump; and the Budget Crosskart is Better Than Ever

- I show you guys my journey through everything I build. Everything starts with an idea, then a design, then assembly and testing. I love jumping these and thought it would be amazing to have a transportable jump on my home track. Well this is the testing phase for both the jump and how the VF-1's handle jumping on a constructed ramp. I learned a lot from this and I am excited to apply what I've learned to refine the jump and tune and adjust the suspension. Thank you to everyone joining in and supporting the massive progress we've made over the last 3 years.

im glad you make these videos or else id never have fun!❤
Not a bad price. Compared to what you get from any box store...
Who in their right mind DOESN'T love jumping!
Love it man! For a middle class guy like me, I'm glad I bought the plans!
Those little things are super cool, I picked a cbr600 and now I just need to find an old atv…coming along..:)
The best dad build ever!!!
All the nieces and nephews think uncle Ben’s place is the best… 😂
Another epic video! Can’t wait to race you at busco!
Sooooo pumped!
EPIC ramp, man! The 525 is the way to go for me.. that thing is sooo nice!
Also, from that angle, your yard could be in a painting!
Happy little crosscarts among the beautiful pines!

Enjoy the summer nice work 👍
You are also testing your building and durability while having fun with your family and friends ❤️
Man I’m so glad you get it, it means a lot, thank you.
Man what talking about it could be better that's amazing, thank you for what you do!!!
the fun level is way up there looks like family day was a success for sure and that what its all about.
I love all of it, great job and thank you for sharing!!😊
Like you mentioned in the video there is fine tuning of the suspension to do to help with the nosediving, but another factor could be ramp length. I saw a video one time where a guy said for motorcycle jumping it’s good to have a ramp twice the wheelbase of the bike or longer. I don’t know what the ratio is for a buggy but it might be something to look in to.
🤌
the budget kart is the same, correct? so one could get wheeling on a budget and upgrade over time? engine swap, etc
Yes. If you set up a solid roller with the rear spool, you could start small and get bigger, but you would have to cut out engine mounts as you go.
rear shock?

The orange and the red ones are from Polaris Outlaw, and Predator
@@shrugger1 thx
What size tires on the budget build and tooth 530 sprocket used on the same VF-1 the tire diameter Thanks.
Tires are 22” and ratio is right around 3:1 for the final drive.
The jump wasn’t very high and it looked like the kart was bottoming out on the nose when it landed. Seems like raising the suspension and giving it more room to travel might be a good upgrade.
I think if you tried a little harder you could find a few more problems you have with what I’m doing. In all honesty I think you are incapable of doing anything shown in the video and that is your biggest problem.
Yeah, I recall the early days when I started building my off-road buggy. Several people would always tell me how they would have done it different, what I need to change, etc. To this day, none of those guys have even attempted to build anything, so I never took their comments seriously. I'm with KJ on this one.
@@KJRaycing I wasn’t out to simply be a critic. I’m not a fabricator or an engineer, but I can see when a design needs to be changed. And since you’re selling plans for others to replicate, I thought pointing out an issue with the design needing to be upgraded or changed was fair game. Am I off base?
I sell plans for the chassis, not the suspension. And that design shows that even if you use an affordable suspension setup, you can have enough confidence to put your kids in there. I guess it’s obvious why you are not a fabricator or engineer, you’re only good at tearing things down instead of building them up.
@@KJRaycing You might want to take a SERIOUS look in the mirror... or re-read my comment. I purposely used the word UPGRADE to suggest an IMPROVEMENT. I never once suggested you suck, your designs suck or tried to take anything away from your design and you come back with a character assassination??? That speaks volumes about YOUR character, not mine.
Every one of those Karts badly nose dived off the jump. The suspension is tuned exactly opposite of how it should be. Thats dangerous.
How should it be tuned then, Mr. Expert?
@@Mardy72 I would like to know too.
@@Mardy72 You guys need to settle down and stop being offended over constructive criticism. You saw the severe NOSE DIVES. You are going to argue that the suspension isn’t correct after seeing that???
get some more ride hieght in the front, should be more than the rear where ever u end up.
The front is under spring stock! AND with almost everyone’s aftermarket spring kits!! This means the spring rates are not enough to push the car back up fast enough after compression. And over soft front means the car has extra body roll, dives when breaking, and uses the swaybar to help it, that in turn destroys your front independent suspension!!
turn the front rebound open 15 to 18 clicks or more. Move the crossovers down from 3/4 to 1 1/2 inches above the top of the slider after you figure your ride hieght and settle the car. This will engage the bottom spring much sooner to help get that front end upwards faster to level fly the car!
turn rear rebound full closed, open from 3 to 7 clicks. This will slow rear to again hep fly level and much more traction will be felt as the car unloads slower to keep power to the ground.
Rear crossover should be moved upwards to keep from using the bottom higher rate spring to soon! Higher rate Rear springs give unwanted push back, that is harder and faster, less traction, and difficulty in flight.
A car set up correctly is a safer car and can more easily survive if a driver makes a misjudgment and give back control sooner, more easily and more often.

@@BUILDNIGHT That makes a lot of sense. Any suggestion on things to read to better understand how to set up suspension for jumping?
Hit the throttle harder as soon as you're front tries leave the ramp and it should help make you land more non nose heavy/level.
Personally, I'd rather land a little nose-down than flat, that's known to be harder on the spine
@@davecarnevale8017 Ive always like my rear tires to hit first then my fronts last but not far apart. I do not like that nose dive felling.
@@FukTheGovernment465 I'll take the nose dive feeling over spinal compression any day, but you do you and have a great day in the process
@@chrismustry9302 I have never had spinal compression happen to me to the point of where it hurt, then again i run softer shocks to absorb impact.
