Gotta love the way that jerk acts like you're the one doing it wrong. What an A-hole. Even if you have that happen all day long, you have to have a bit of understanding that the truck driver is literally just going where they tell him with the paperwork they give him.

Overweight, wrong address, late delivery, no communication with recipients or shippers and majority is the fault of the dispatcher. I remember once I asked my dad what he had in his trailer. They don't have that level of concern. Yet, that dude, if he were a driver, he would be the very first one raising a stink about not being treated with respect, etc., etc.
Sounds more like the warehouse guy sees a lot of the same crap from the same idiots and is way annoyed about it. Too bad he is taking it out on drivers. Too bad there isn’t a feedback channel for them to get recurring issues corrected.
It's amazing how shippers and receivers treat drivers. Shippers need drivers to move there product. Receivers need drivers to bring them product but both treat drivers like they are doing the driver a favor. Drivers have the power but we refuse to use it.
You couldn't pay me enough money to sit and wait around all day. Whenever I had a job that was so slow, I was constantly sweeping the floor, that just destroyed my soul. I was working on a bread line, and I had 25kg bags to open onto the production line in a large room with only one other guy working the other machine. So, I counted how long I had for each bag, and it was around 60 seconds. They had a machine to lift the bags too, so all you had to do was cut cut open. And, you could do 3 - 4 in a row, so, this was the routine, open 4 bags with the 4th sitting on the top. Sweep the floor for 3 minutes, open bags again for like 20 seconds, then back to sweeping. Imagine a job where you have to spend 80% of your time sweeping the floor. Dude on the other machine was just leaning up against the pallet. Sometimes at the bottom he'd sit on the pallet and spin around a bit. Damn, you don't know how shitty this can be. So, another job I'd be in the cooler in the cold with a jacket, and the boxes come through a hole in the wall. Sometimes they would stop dead, I'd be sleeping on top of a pallet at the bottom of the racking near the hole, waiting for the boxes again. Then one time, all the boxes come flying in so fast that the whole thing backs up as I'm running around like crazy. Because I was the end of the day guy, meant to get the slow trickle, but sometimes the label machine would fail, by the time it was at the end, my area would be super inefficient with pallets everywhere. I could never handle a huge rush just on my own, and these people did just that, they flooded me, and I was screwed. Terrible job, I hated it.
Here's the thing.....keep in mind I'm not a truck driver, but I'm looking at it from a manager/supervisor point of view. If there was a shortage of truck drivers, then what you said makes sense. These A Holes though? They're thinking that they can "easily" get themselves another driver so why treat them well?
It's the same with my industry (scaffolding). The customer wants us to get them into places they physically can't get to, and then when we do, we're in the way. While we're building it, we're in the way. The second they're finished using the scaffold, we're in the way. We get treated like maggots to do a job very few can do and then we're expected to also be nice to these people. If you're entrusting your life to someone it's probably not a good idea to shit all over them. Workplace "accidents" happen all the time.
where i work (with our new management) we treat truckers really well, bathroom, vending machines, ect. but we have a mask rule, and we provide masks if you dont have any, you just needa put it on come talk to us and we get you put in with your scheduled time. but some people try to fight us with our mask rule and wont put a mask on and cuse us out, we just ask them to leave and dont load them till they put a mask on
@@penarudy66 You put it in the carrier agreement or contract for the load. Sometimes the shipper won't agree, but the broker might if the margin is high enough and they'll haggle it out with the shipper later if it ends up being an issue.
I've worked with Freeman for about 7 years now. I completely agree the wait times & layovers should be upfront - Freeman does pay us $50/hr after 2hrs and up to $350/day + $250 driver layover which is rare (it does not coincide with wait time, it is in addition to detention). The scales are unfortunately lost in translation along the way about 20% of the time because most shows don't require it - This was delivered to an advance warehouse and the weight is how they make their money. All in all - Don't take trade show loads if you haven't done them before or if your broker does not sound like they have been doing them for years. There is a method to the madness and it's all about connections, experience, and waiting. There is a lot of problems that come up, most easily resolved, but you don't need a rookie driver or broker working this freight.
@@penarudy66 Ask for it specifically to be included in the Special Instructions when you receive it from the customer or broker. That way it is legally binding. Anytime I run trade show loads specifically the detention times and layovers are clearly laid out so there is no confusion. "that's trucking"- exactly why I am in a day cab for a private carrier working 8 hour days. I don't have the patience for incompetent people. And the entire transportation industry is full of idiots, from the guys that schedule the loads to the warehouse guys to the drivers. Glad you have the demeanor for the job Justin, more power to you friend. Always wishing you the best in your battles with the customers.
I'm with you Brother. I quit running brokered loads years ago. The Brokers are too often clueless and often lied to by the shipper, and shippers often know they're screwingbthe driver, and just don't care, it's off their dock, and your problem!
@Zaven Sargsyan I have 15 years of OTR, Regional and now local. Experience with reefer, flatbed, hopper, live bottom and dry van. No tickets, no CSA points, Hazmat/doubles/triples/tanker. $105k/yr
I run for the Post Office, bulk mail. $33 per hour.. $28 base, and $5 for benefits..which I take as case because I'm covered under another benefit plan.
It's not the idiots, these guys have no control over the situation. If truckers organized they could collectively demand that this wait bs be paid for. That would eliminate this is a hurry. You're a business, form a fucking business union to protect yourselves.
I have dealt with a lot of Tonys in my long life and allow me to say "yours" was the nicest rant that I have ever heard . You say , " that's trucking " . I say that's people not doing their job .
100% agree there, Steve. Dunno whose fault or faults it was, but clearly, there was nobody taking responsibility for coordinating this thing, till Justin gave it a try.

You've got great patience. I've learned that people don't appreciate when you extend self for someone else's blunders. As for me, that load would have went back to the warehouse it was picked up from. Be blessed!

Me too, I'd call dispatch & let customer service do the heavy lifting, if the load is rejected & the receiver refuses to accept it. I turn around & return to sender. I also get paid to return it. I DON'T WORK FOR FREE.
Just had the EXACT SAME problem last week with a lumber load ! Wowww...you gotta laugh to keep from crying...lol but definitely yassss God is still good !
had a friend get a load of wood and it was for unload by recipient. he got here and they wanted him to unload the truck. So he got them to sign driver unload. Then he got the cab and trailer into an L, with the straps off. Then he poped the clutch and unloaded the bed. Just not the way they expected.
Wow. I own a commercial real estate company and I just can't believe what they are putting this driver through. No wonder our ports are a big mess. The amount of wasted time, energy, and money for poor communication systems and clarity is astounding.
That is what happens when you haul brokered loads. They are middle men who take your money, lie and make stuff up to get the load picked up. They sometimes pay detention at a rate not comensurate with your time and loss of income. Get your own loads as an O/O or get a job with a manufacturer who has their own trucks. This never happens to me with any load other than a broker load.
It can happen and he handled it professionally. I’ve seen drivers act like little children throwing tantrums because they can’t be patient and accept the human error of our ways. I respect this young driver because he always handles disappointment with grace and dignity. A rare quality theses days.
1st-time viewer here. I just have to say, Justin, your attitude and professionalism in this video's evolution is Dude Perfect! When the frustrations pile up, taking those seconds to recheck your information and emotions, then calmly explain the situation and ask for help with courtesy and a professional bearing will not only get you the service you need (eventually), but help keep you from taking it personally. If someone who screwed up this shipment's handling but watches this video, they'll know precisely how you were wronged, and what it cost you. You had to wear a bunch of hats momentarily there, to sort it all out. If it weren't for you, the people who originated this shipment and the people who're ultimately going to exhibit it, or display it or whatever, would have been *screwed*! You *saved* their butts! You might have even saved a business deal for that manufacturer. Asking $500 in compensation for the screwup is well justified, I mean...let's say the mfg. lost out on a million dollar deal because that material didn't get to the expo for the buyers to see? The ripple effects could've hurt a lot more people. WELL DONE YOU! I really don't know the workings inside the trucking industry, but I just have to say that whomever you're working for, should be mighty glad they have someone like yourself driving for them. To whomever organized this shipment, please take note: get your details straight and your paperwork in order. You were very unprofessional in this. Can you see what it cost? Can you see the time wasted, fuel wasted, frustration caused, and loss of business it was about to cause? This driver did *your* job...and maybe got nothing but a lame "sorry". Strive to be a professional, no matter your job, like Justin here. Good day, driver. Keep on JustTrucking on! Thanks for showing the realities of your world to us. 😎
What a mess Justin it’s too bad that you had to go through someone else’s incompetence, but know this it not only in trucking you see these fubars, I see it all the time in healthcare and the more I correct with an updated or improved process the more issues come up to be fixed. Human imperfections and bad attitude makes it ten times worse. I know that was frustrating for you but your example of how you handled this was a fine example for other to follow. Just stay clam don’t get upset and make it worse. Great job Justin 💯
Great comment; I fully agree. Well, for yourself, healthcare's inner workings are truly a black box to me. I have no idea what goes on in there…but I am SO curious! I mean REALLY, I want to know what's going on there, b/c BOY to I feel like I get screwed over and laid out every time I have to contact the healthcare system. The people are nice to your face, as nice as can be, but the billing? WOW! Probably the least value for service of any industry on earth (apart from being a military contractor, perhaps). Maybe you should roll some YT videos about it yourself! (heheheh, don't get fired; best regards!)
The world would be a better place with more people like you. A little common dog, patience, kindness can go a long way. Your kid's will learn this from you. Love your channel your Canadian Friend/Fan.
He will get paid. Detention pay gets costly especially when you hold the load hostage for the right payment adjustment. Seen a trucker do it before and he was paid for it as well.
@@brandoncaldwell95 I am owner op. Your very uninformed it doesnt work that way. You better read what says rate confirmation. most top at 250 dollar detention. I am a veteran driver of 30 yrs I know the ropes.
So you show up to deliver on date and time ratecon say. Then receiver rejects your load. Ok cool. You completed your end of the contract as per the rate con. Anything after that is a new negotiation. But now you have leverage because the customer wants their product. Well lets talk how bad..... Add overnight fee. Detention fee. Redelivery. You set your rate now
I did a lot of trade show loads in my days with United Van Lines. Much easier to scale before and after loading. And, yes, everything I heard him say is the standard operating procedure and the shipper should have known it (unless this is their first convention). It's how it works at all facilities. Freeman is one of the top three convention center contractors for moving shows in and out. They are union labor contractors also. So, if he sounds terse, it's because he's used to working with union laborers and their unions. He was, again from what I heard, just typical of people managing all logistics that goes into setting up and tearing down a convention.
Yeah...once you get the system figured out, it can be pretty good money. Should be glad he wasn't coming into the convention center on move-in or move-out day. Then you're stuck in a lot with a couple hundred trucks until they need your items. If I could get loads to and from Freeman, etc., warehousing, I would do that...usually good money and light loads. Been in some interesting places to get into, even with a Volvo, like Seattle, San Francisco, or Nashville...and let's not forget Washington DC...never did NY...whew! LOL...remember being one of 23 trucks picking up in PA taking one display to Las Vegas (remember it because of needing a tow truck because of ice, snow, and vehicles parked where they weren't supposed to be...and I wasn't the only one). Memories...sweet and sour...LOL
Agreed. I was part of two shows per year for about 20 years. Saw lots of screw-ups, mistakes , broken and or missing things but everyone worked together without attitude or rudeness to get things resolved. Good on Justin for rolling with the punches. Loosing it wouldn't have solved anything. Cheers.
@@michaelmcclure8673 By the sounds of it I am happy to say "never". I gather you dealt with them more than once. Those places make it hard on the truckers and their staff to boot. Cheers Michael.
Both shippers and receivers. Been that way for decades. All this talk of a truck shortage is crap. If they would load and unload and have us on our way in less than 2 hours things wouldnt be broken right now. But when you spend what looks to be all day on this one load. That means at least 1 if not 2 loads are now late for pick or delivery. Then it balloons from there on out. Now they supply chain is broken. Honestly only way to fix it now is if everyone didn't buy anything for 2 months. That means absolutely nonthing. Then maybe the supply chain will begin to correct itself. Maybe.... Although you could blame a system called inventory control ordering. It's a system that only allows a set number of products to be ordered and shipped based on sale volume. So if a store as been sold out of an item the previous week. They system believes it didn't sell any. So none or ordered. At least until the quarterly inventory counts are done. That basically resets the system to begin to fulfill the orders for product. Too many things are tied into one system. And its beginning to show just how fragile it was from the start. It was broken before the pandemic it will only stay broken. Until everyone comes together and work on a solution not for the short term. But for the long term with contingency plans.
Well Justin I have to admire how you kept your cool with that guy at the receiver.,and still made your point I used to hate idiots like him . Love your videos your a great ambassador to all drivers on how to treat awkward customers, keep it up

The whole convention biz is messed up. Exhibitors are forced to pay the extortion prices for storage and setup. At least twice what what it should be. As a receiver for a company I will tell you we get as frustrated as the truckers sometimes. I almost know when a trucker tells me what he has whether or not I will have a problem. I do feel for the drivers who get caught in the middle.
At a properly managed organization you don't take a break in the middle of offloading a trailer. Neither does everyone take lunch at the same once. That's how my company rolled...
You would think with all the back ups with supply chains and getting goods moved, Off loading would be priority and workers and companies would do a lot better with organization and getting goods off the trucks.
Man your attitude is amazing I would have been very upset with that place, I guess you got a good enough rate to put up with some crap, but and you said it very well the driver should not be the problem solver trying to fix someone else's incompetence. Trade shows are difficult. The exhibitor fees are insane. Crazy stuff like $500 to rent a chair for 3 days, or $100 per device per day in your booth that connects to the internet. So they're used to people trying to end-around their fees (justifiably, they're unreasonable) and view everyone as a cheater. Its really a broken industry.
Justin, you are pulling the proverbial “Soup Sandwich “. I’ve had more than a few of these back in the day. I got to the point that when this happened that I would call the broker and told them. You have 10 minutes to get me the right info or it’s going back to the shipper.
I would have stood my ground for that $500. They're lucky he didn't just take it back where it came from and charge em double. Did everyone else's job for them instead to get it delivered instead.
Sometimes taking it back to the shipper isn’t an option. I picked up a loose truckload of custom furniture from the manufacturer in Fort Worth. I delivered it to a college dorm in Sioux city Iowa , the person in charge there The House Mother, looked at it and said “ this won’t do, the fabric is wrong the color isn’t what I ordered. Take it back!! I had to inform her that taking it back wasn’t an option for me. I had a load from Cedar Rapids to Hayward ca. to load later that day and that would put me in position for a three dollar a mile load from San Leandro ca. to Perth Amboy Nj. Which was the whole point of this trip. If she refused it I would find a local whse to store it and the shipper could do whatever they want to with it when I got paid for the eight hundred miles I hauled it. But I suggested that she call the manufacturer voice her complaints to them and tell them exactly what i was going to do with the load. And tell them that she wanted her money back now. And just as I suspected they cut her a price , that made the color and fabric something she could live with, and a refund of half of her money. A little imagination, and an understanding of what makes the world go round is all it takes to solve the problem. But I was paid to move that load from Tx to Ia I’m not their truck so don’t tell me “Take it Back”
My Son taught me the saying for Gristly folk “ Dry your eyes Princess” This is Scottish Term. To be used carefully. Not easy job you have but coping well with the situation.
You should get the $500 for the mess up, actually more for problem solving. That place should have the scales because they probably know they will be paid for the fuel that is used between weighs. Have good days!!

I use to work at this facility on General drive. It was originally a Consolidated Freightways Break Bulk Hub. CF owned the entire property. The Central Transport terminal was the inbound dock, and the Freeman dock was the outbound. Interesting to see the inside of the terminal again.

In Minnesota the MINDOT policy is to use all available road, meaning merge when the lanes end. I assume that logic goes for everywhere, else they would have put that squad car back further.
Research zipper merge...it actually works better. The ones who get over soon get passed by the ones who don't. If you think otherwise, why ever have more than one lane?

I'm not sure why you're paying full whack for a reweigh. As long as it's the same scale, same truck and trailer, and within 24 hrs of the original weigh ticket, CAT allows you to use the 3$ reweigh policy, even if you load/unload freight.

Workplace "accidents" happen all the time.
where i work (with our new management) we treat truckers really well, bathroom, vending machines, ect. but we have a mask rule, and we provide masks if you dont have any, you just needa put it on come talk to us and we get you put in with your scheduled time. but some people try to fight us with our mask rule and wont put a mask on and cuse us out, we just ask them to leave and dont load them till they put a mask on
@@pdwmadness You like that power trip don't ya?
NEVER take a show load unless they agree, in writing, to pay for ALL your delay time!
Sage advice right there.
Where do we get to that? From the broker? I'm new.
I'm a broker - if you ever want some honest advise from my side of the industry feel free to ask.

Welcome to our world, 30% are not all that that bad. Budwieser maybe is best.
Agree. This is an ass hole warehouse. Like in third world countries.
That dude definitely had an attitude, and they wonder why they cant get truck drivers, big part shippers and receivers, what a disaster of a load
Unions. One word explains it all.
Congratulations on being so patient. I probably would have unloaded it in their parking lot using a log chain and a light pole.
Awesome comment!
Yeah, done my time at North American Van Lines.
Agreed. I was part of two shows per year for about 20 years. Saw lots of screw-ups, mistakes , broken and or missing things but everyone worked together without attitude or rudeness to get things resolved. Good on Justin for rolling with the punches. Agreed Jim
I work as a Vendor and I have to agree.. Receivers are some of the worse humans lol. Its almost as if the company trains them that way.
25 plus driving....it's true!
Not enough people to load/unload, along with long load/unload times and errors like the one in this video are most of the problems.
Well Justin I have to admire how you kept your cool with that guy at the receiver.,and still made your point I used to hate idiots like him . Love your videos your a great ambassador to all drivers on how to treat awkward customers, keep it up

You manage to remain super calm through all of this. Kudos to you. Most people would be pretty irate by the end of this fiasco.
Justin, you are pulling the proverbial “Soup Sandwich “. I’ve had more than a few of these back in the day. I got to the point that when this happened that I would call the broker and told them. You have 10 minutes to get me the right info or it’s going back to the shipper.
Yes, that I like.

Hi Justin, You have the virtue of proactive problem solving. You are very calm and collected when making all this phone calls
When you were on the phone he said John g “listens good” 😂 sir I’m not trying to have a therapy session I’m just trying to get unloaded
You seem to have a great attitude despite all the tribulation they put you through. Keep up the good works!
You know when you scale at the same scale you can re weigh for 24 hours with the 4#s at the bottom left corner
Haha I was gonna mention that too. He probably knows but the frustration clouds the mind sometimes
He figured it out...his ticket showed $3.00. Still, need to get the APP...makes it so much easier especially if you don't need the printed copy. They email it to you.
Very beautiful the way you handled it professionally,it's them to blame fo bogus emails and inaccurate information
Welcome to the world of trades shows. They all have the same attitude.
I use to work at this facility on General drive. It was originally a Consolidated Freightways Break Bulk Hub. CF owned the entire property. The Central Transport terminal was the inbound dock, and the Freeman dock was the outbound. Interesting to see the inside of the terminal again.
Why wouldn’t you have re-weighed it ? Could have saved 9$, also my buddy is doing these freeman loads for job hunt getting 1,150$ a day pretty sweet account only like 350 miles a day id love it.
Great job Justin.... you have a lot more patience than I have... goodness.
Appreciated Jeff
In Minnesota the MINDOT policy is to use all available road, meaning merge when the lanes end. I assume that logic goes for everywhere, else they would have put that squad car back further.
Actually you should get over when the sign says lane is ending, usually It works better than just cutting in front of everyone at the merge......
@@truckercowboyed2638 If "they" wanted you to get over at the sign... Why don't they put the cones or whatever by the sign?
Actually there are a couple state's i drive in and out of that have signs that say merge now about 3/4 or 1/2 a mile before lanes end.
Research zipper merge...it actually works better. The ones who get over soon get passed by the ones who don't. If you think otherwise, why ever have more than one lane?
@@johnrobinson4939 So... You could do either one and be right. Either you following whomever setup the sign, or following whomever setup the cones. Just because they've made it more confusing doesn't mean they somehow fixed something.
You got to meet some of my Teamster brothers, one angry and the other on break! 😂🤣
I’ll be unloading trucks tomorrow at SEMA for freeman. I’ll try to be nice!
Hey buddy I just seen you passed me by around 10:45 this morning on Taft Vineland road in Orlando good looking truck 👍
You are a man who is able to accept or tolerate delays, problems, or suffering without becoming annoyed or anxious. In todays world this makes you a rare bird. Everyone could learn a thing or two from you. Take care and be safe.
You have the patience of a Shaolin Monk. I would have been steaming mad 😡. Grocery warehouse are also as bad in Orlando area places like GFS, McClain Foods, and Winn-Dixie types stay away from those unless the broker promises in writing detention pay so your not screwed
Bro I must tell You you are a very very patient man my hats go off to you
Thank You Lon
I'm not sure why you're paying full whack for a reweigh. As long as it's the same scale, same truck and trailer, and within 24 hrs of the original weigh ticket, CAT allows you to use the 3$ reweigh policy, even if you load/unload freight.
I'm a Truck Driver wife. He wants me to learn to dispatch. I'm a nurse by profession though, so this is a whole different world. You have a beautiful family ! I'm learning so much watching your videos, appreciate you.
If that D-Bag “deals with it all the time” then he should of called a long time ago to get all the info updated so he doesnt have to “deal” with it again. Common sense isnt so common. Im in the warehouse industry, i used to get trucks that had wrong info, but were at the correct place. One easy call can smooth operations.
Referring the D-Bag as the receiver… not Justin lol. He always handles these situations perfectly
My boss was paying us $2,000 a week to deliver for Dollar General to the actual stores. It was sweet I could get a trailer unloaded in one day and we had to do three in a week and if we did four we would get an extra thousand.
12:20 Because when a 6'5" gorilla leans into your window and asks what your problem is........your original problem doesn't seem as big as the present one in your window!😂😂😂😂
Your very professional. Lots of patience. 👍
That was an unpleasant trip...of course you handled it like a true profesh.
Driver your so professional and keeping it calm and cool man big ups to you!
You put the meaning to a professional driver man!
Well, it just goes to show. Keep your cool, even if others don't. I worked in receiving and there were only 2 of us. I was always nice and my coworker was a butthead!! I would unload a truck and take my 15 minute break afterwards. We were union, but not production and our supervisor said "Take your break when you wanted to". I went into trucking just a few years later. Almost 20 years OTR. 10 years in Warehouse on a forklift!
Used to be a trucker, dealt with a lot of grumpy receivers,
Sorry you had to go through this. I've driven as well, and it's amazing how some places will unload you in minutes, sign some papers and your done. Other's are just FUBAR as you said. Hang in there man! You have great patience!
lol @ 1088 or 188, you can tell who was tired and who was listening. Be safe out there Justin. This video reminds me of who is on 1st? Funny.
