WHO ARE THE 20 NUMBNUTS WHO DIDNT LIKE THIS? I CANT IMAGINE THAT. SOME PEOPLE DONT KNOW REAL MUSIC WHEN THEY HEAR IT. EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS SONG IS PURE BEAUTY
I was 11 yrs old the first time I heard this song . This song was one of my sister’s favorite. She’ll be 69 years old next month........, and time went by so fast😥😥😥
This is one of the most awesome songs on the planet and it especially reminds me of my beloved late wife, Sheila Gawrys who left to be with the Lord on July 4, 2005. She was a victim of childhood sexual abuse and the ensuing emotional pain caused her to literally die of a broken heart at the young age of 41. She was my wife and best friend for 23 years. Every family unit has that one person that is by far the most important person in it. That was Sheila. I am still trying to climb out of the darkness with Gods help...........The pain remains.....But I am still fighting....
+Edward Gawrys jr ... my friend, I could not even begin to imagine how you feel...my wife and I have been together 31 years and I am more in love with her than I have ever been..you are in my thoughts and prayers... I have found that the Lord is the only one who has and IS the light...he has sustained me since I found it in 1969...may you find it as well!!
I thank you for sharing this with me. Please know that there is opportunity of seeing her again in the presence of the Lord..Till that time..BLESSINGS be upon you
my mother fell in love with this song after hearing me play it back in the 90's. It would bring us to tears together after her cancer took over. I lost her in 2003...this song still makes me weep for her.
This is the 45 rpm radio station edit version very rarely heard today . The full album version is the one they play today on stations with the classic format . I remember both as if it were yesterday . Great song indeed !
I fell in love with this song when it first came out in 1972 and still love it today. Great to see there is a video to go along with it. Thanks basilphil for posting it.
I repost this often. I'm so grateful you posted this! This has been my souls themesong since I was 10 years old. I don't know why but it brings me light. Thank you a million times!
thank you Thank You THANK YOU! - for bringing me back to boyhood growning up in the Fraser Valley in British Columbia. I loved Skylark then and I love them now!
From 12 years old, to 52 in 3 months.... This song has spoken some of the truest words for me, from deep within...... What a beautiful song, and oh, soooo true...
I'm 55 now and have it in my Funeral Mix, I was too young to even understand how much it would weave into my soul as well. I'm glad I'm not alone, we must have been very wise young people
After all these years this is still the only song that can make me teary-eyed. It's such an obscure song, but extremely moving and powerful; it's a timeless classic. Too bad radio stations won't touch it. :-( Thank goodness for RUclips. A million thanks for posting this video; I hope it never gets deleted.
How can one say enough about this piece of music. It is beautiful. The lyrics are more than enchanting. They tell such a wonderful story. I'm 62yo now and when I hear this song I can clearly picture a sweetheart I had long ago. I still miss her, even to this day. As Paul Simon says, "Still Crazy After All These Years." Music like this is like a Magic Carpet Ride...sweeping you back to old and almost forgotten faces, places and times. It was good to have been young then.
I was 20 years old when i heard this song for the first time. I was having lunch with my first love at the restaurant and a jukebox was playing this song. While we're waiting for our food order , he wrote love notes for me on the colorful napkins to amuse me..it sounded so corny but when you're madly in love nothing else matters but the incredible feelings you feel for each other. Distance separated us. . i'm now married to wonderful man for 33 years .. this song will be in my heart 4 ever
What a gorgeous piece of music. ❤️ The lyrics, the melody, and that voice! The beginning of an amazing career. Thank you David Foster! How many generations has this man influenced? A truly brilliant and gifted musician! ❤️
She's faced the hardest times you could imagine And many times her eyes fought back the tears And when her youthful world was about to fall in Each time her slender shoulders bore the weight of all her fears And a sorrow no one hears still rings in midnight silence, in her ears Let her cry, for she's a lady Let her dream, for she's a child Let the rain fall down upon her She's a free and gentle flower, growing wild And if by chance I should hold her Let me hold her for a time But if allowed just one possession I would pick her from the garden, to be mine Be careful how you touch her, for she'll awaken And sleep's the only freedom that she knows And when you walk into her eyes, you won't believe The way she's always paying for a debt she never owes And a silent wind still blows that only she can hear and so she goes Let her cry, for she's a lady Let her dream, for she's a child Let the rain fall down upon her She's a free and gentle flower, growing wild
As I listen to this song I'm crying for she was a lady and a gentle flower. I'm speaking of my dear wife that I lost Nov 2nd 2010. Arlene, I miss you so much! I will forever love you.
Wow. Love that guitar intro! the guitar looks like a Gibson Les Paul Custom. Wish there was more footage of Doug Edwards guitar playing. David Foster walking along the beach..one of his earliest hits. The hippie child period in our lives.
I live this song, the lyrics say it all. I have walked on this same shore felt the cool sand between my toes felt the power of these waves watching this video I can smell and feel the ocean air. I absolutely loved this song, that voice wow!
I remember BJ and David were married long ago. She must be pregnant with their daughter. The old days back in Victoria, 1971. Great sounds, great times.
I was almost 8 months pregnant with Amy, who by the way, co-wrote both Michael Buble's hits and so, the beat truly does go on! If you only get to have one hit record.. what a blessing for me that it was Wildflower! Donny Gerrard, in my opinion, is the best R&B singer to come out of Canada, for those people who are curious, he's on tour with Mavis Staples! Happy New Year.. all the best, BJ Cook
One of the most beautiful songs..... ever. Thank you for posting this so more people can enjoy its beauty ....... Memories of slow dancing in the sand in I.B.

Ah, such a great video of one of the greatest songs of the 70's, if not of all time! David Foster's "Hit Man" missed out BIG TIME by not getting Donny Gerard out there to sing this song with him to close that concert. Sad, David...SAD. You could have saved the BEST for last but you missed out big time.

This song was engraved in my memories ever since I was a girl, but I had forgotten the name of the song and the group. After years and years of searching and hoping, some DJ could help me to find it. I knew it was Skylark with Wildflower. Now that i found the video on youtube, it's just perfect!!! Thanks soooooo sooooo very much for posting it. I'll certainly will watch it a thousand times or more! I lust LOOOOOOOVE it!
This has been my song since the first time I hear it. It speaks of my life and my sorrow; abuse:betrayal by a loved one - "the way she's always paying for a debt she never owed". Wow, 38 years later it still makes me cry. It should be played for me when i die. I found it yesterday when I went searching for the lyrics because I'd forgotten a line. I played it and wept like a baby. My husband appeared out of nowhere, with a hand on my shoulder and love enough to wash away the pain...this time. IOU
This is the original song written by Canadian group Skylark. I was looking for this song like a madman ... This is it! I used to listen to this hit in 1972 when I was living in Cuba... It brings super nice memories from the tiger station WQAM
many years ago I dated a drummer and he dedicated this song to me every performance .... I can not imagine there being a more perfect song for a woman...its sad it never got the attention it deserved...it will always be a part of my sweet memories that I will carry always. I often wonder what became of him...even after 30 years.

excellent song from way back in the good old days.
She's faced the hardest times you could imagine
And many times her eyes fought back the tears
And when her youthful world was about to fall in
Each time her slender shoulders bore the weight of all her fears
And a sorrow no one hears still rings in midnight silence, in her ears
Let her cry, for she's a lady
Let her dream, for she's a child
Let the rain fall down upon her
She's a free and gentle flower, growing wild
And if by chance I should hold her
Let me hold her for a time
But if allowed just one possession
I would pick her from the garden, to be mine
Be careful how you touch her, for she'll awaken
And sleep's the only freedom that she knows
And when you walk into her eyes, you won't believe
The way she's always paying for a debt she never owes
And a silent wind still blows that only she can hear and so she goes
Let her cry, for she's a lady
Let her dream, for she's a child
Let the rain fall down upon her
She's a free and gentle flower, growing wild
How in the Hell can anyone give this song the thumbs down this is one of the Greatest Love songs every !!!!
