    Artificer is unique as a half caster as the spell progression rounds up, not down, so a one level dip doesn't slow level progression until that second level

      Right! I believe I pointed it out in the vid early on when talking about multiclassing

    I’ve actually seen a build where someone put CON low and dumped STR as an Armorer Artificer, and by the time they hit the higher levels, they got bumped to a 19 and 21 respectively with infusions, and then added Wizard levels as icing on the cake. I don’t know why, but this build reminded me of that a little bit. Love them both! 😁

    Great video, but I have a slight nitpick. Contingency can only store spells of up to 5th level, so that doesn't work with Globe of Invulnerability. Secondly, Globe of Invulnerability only stops incoming spells, it doesn't stop anything from physically passing through it. I think Resilient Sphere accomplishes that pretty well as a defensive option still, mostly to let you heal or buff yourself before getting back into the fight.

    Fun build! Thanks for sharing! The idea was amazing, but as you said the wizard spell list is kind of same-y in every wizard if the player wants to be effective. However, you managed to make it fun!

    • @DnDWorkshopShorts
      @DnDWorkshopShorts  2 года назад +3

      The problem is there are so many spells that blow so many others out of the water (Con saves are the best way to tell). I like Abjuration, Illusion and Enchantment since they give you reason to break out of the "standard Wizard spellbook"

    Yup, this is an actually strong build
    It's very important to remember how warmage has an initiative bonus. Very nice to open with shutdown. Chronurgy amd fey touched are good for the same reason(gift of alacrity)

    Tensor`s Floating Disk can be used to haul around a large crate or other large objects to act as half cover for +2AC and +2 Saves for your party members. The limitation on it is that it will follow you twenty feet behind you unless you approach it, so If you are running around the battlefield your party`s cover goes with you unless they pushed it off the disk.

    I'm a bit late to the party but going Custom Lineage instead of V.Human would get you a 17 intelligence and Darkvision (at the cost of a skill). Then use Custom background picking up the Wildspacer feature. Now you have Tough at level 1 in addition to Eldritch Adept so you can pick up Fey Touched as your first ASI/Feat bumping intelligence to 18 at level 6.

    Does this have a lot of AC? Yes. Does it have a lot of survivability? Yes. Does it have spells too late? Again, yes.
    That last one is a HIGE problem for wizards.
    Good? Yes. Fun? Yes.
    Ultimate? Hell no!

    • @anonymouse2675
      @anonymouse2675 2 года назад +4

      Like you said, it`s a fun build but not the ultimate Wizard. For overpowered Wizards I like to go with Chronurgy for being able to 2 concentration spells at once. It`s nice being able to do the whole Sickening Radiance/Wall of Force combo with only my familiar, while still being as overpowered as a Divination Wizard. Throw on the Lucky feat for even more shenanigans.

    • @DnDWorkshopShorts
      @DnDWorkshopShorts  2 года назад

      @@anonymouse2675 Oh no doubt, Chronurgy is just schnasty (especially post level 10!). But in the few fights early on and before Clone, vulnerability is certainly a consideration if you have a DM with teeth!
      But for the most part, you're right about sheer power lacking here

    • @DnDWorkshopShorts
      @DnDWorkshopShorts  2 года назад

      Oh, I am very aware of those two :P
      But you are correct in the sense of it being slower than Treantmonk's God Wizard, but even he can see squishiness being a cinch point just from being a wizard. Of course, it should surpass this Abjuration Wizard, but I feel I may have traded some aspects his was missing versus mine and vice-versa.
      But you are 100% correct with the slowness, that is the easily the biggest weakness I have presented here. To wit, his God Wizard probably can out prove my build here.
      Thank you for bringing up some solid points!

      @@DnDWorkshopShorts one of the things that theory crafters and optimizers do.. (myself included) is assume best case scenarios. You build your chatacter in a vacuum , and forget that other players will mess you up tactically, or that DMs will adapt to your tactics, so at best you will get to pull ot off once.
      Comments about "mandatory" spells like web, show a lack of experience to me, because it mostly never works out. I barely ever use it.
      In fact i rarely memorize large scale control spells because they never work out.
      The build itself (while good) also shows some wishful thinking.
      Personally i would have fone artificer 3 armorer and taken the sharpshooter feat to go with its lightning launcher.
      I know you are worried about spell lv access, but that is another thing that plays out different in practice. You really wont notice the dip.
      Having said all of that.. what do i know? Ive been playing 40 years.. so i am also biased from the groups ive played with..

      @shirak8 You are right about white room space and the "necessary" spells being taken all across every wizard. Unfortunately, we're one of the few classes that can't let us change our spells, so we just gotta plan out what we need not only a day in advance, but the entire campaign.
      Thank you for your insight and willingness to explain out everything, especially since it's backed with your experience!
