I don't know anything about American Idol from the last ten years but I know I like this song. This song is relatable and probably means a lot to Trent. Let him do what he wants, and if it is good, support it. Who knows, maybe his interests and yours will line up eventually.

How incredibly this song comes out finally!!! It makes me smile for no reason. Just as Trent said “If I’m singing gospel music or I’m singing country music or I’m singing pop music, I sing it soulfully. That’s just how it comes out.'' I believe that we've already had a future big name in country music!!

This song describes my life right now. My girlfriend lives a little over 600 miles away and I'm earning money to move there and live there. I got to see her over the weekend, but God i gotta see her again. We've been dating for almost a year and I'm gonna go home to her. I love her and I'd drive that 600 mile trip more than 1,000 times just to see her smile again. It's worth it. Guys, if you get a girl you really love, you'll realize that you'll do anything to see her again, even if that means uprooting your life for love, you know you gotta do it. I love Trent as he has an amazing voice! But I've seen this pattern with recent idol winners. None of them are successful. And I think it's the label. Trent isn't a country singer!! He has more of an R&B soul voice! Smh. They're just looking for a commercial hit wonder. It's sad

I'm sorry, but as a fan of nearly every genre of music, a singer, song writer, and a Branson star, I don't think y'all know what you're talking about. He has an amazing voice, and I can't imagine anyone else singing this song the way he did or even differently without it sounding terrible or half as good. His voice fit that song so well, I love it.
Trent is a Country Guy! You can't change that. His song is okay, but not what most people wanted to hear. He did R&B on American Idol and did an Amazing Job! Trent is not a Country Singer! He's R&B! In order to get recognition like on Idol he has to do the same out here. Like one of the Judges said, Trent is an R&B Singer, not a Country Singer! Trent has to find his true self. Some think that he is a Fake, and a sellout.I know he loves Soul Music, just give him a little more time. We are not giving him time! Be patient, he will deliver! How I know? Because Trent showed all of us what he's capable of Achieving. Hold On!

All winners? Carrie, Scotty, Trent...Kelly sometimes but she's still mostly pop. 3.5 out of 15. Fewer than half of them...fewer than a quarter. Not even close to all of them.
American Idol used Big Machine Label to sign the winner, they are a country music label. However, as in any reality TV show, things are not always as they seem. If you follow Trent on his You Tube, you'll see he has covered lots of genres of music including country.
Country music is very popular, has a very wide fan base and makes a TON of money

Trent should have an appearance on the new AI season. Like there batch was not highlighted much because we all thought that's the last AI season and the other idols are all there, well maybe most of them. Nothing bad about it but they deserve exposure though.
