Not many tutorials really show how the paints are mixed or watered down or show each step that is done which is really helpful when you are new to painting. So please keep this up this is great!
This comment made me think of that meme on how to draw an owl ("draw two circles ... then draw the rest of the owl"). It is good to see everything in real time rather than being told to do something
If you want a good dry brush ice tutorial in the meantime for Artis to finish one, check out Darcy Bono’s tutorial on it! She has a really simple but really awesome tutorial for some easy frost/ice effects!
Hi Bryon! What I like most about this format is when you make mistakes you fix them right in front of me. I love it when I watch content creators make and fix there mistakes. Helps me be less critical and it gives me confidence to push through!! Thanks great video.
Hi Byron, jut wanted to say your tutorials (and brushes!) have really made a difference in improving my painting, and sped up my processing by dozens and dozens of hours at this point. So yeah, just a thank you for all the effort you put into these.
I appreciate your approach. I just started painting miniatures this year after a long hiatus of just not having the slightest clue on how to really paint them. But the past 16 months have pushed me a lot towards painting in general, it's very stress relieving. Your videos are so informative, and just wanted to tell you I appreciate ya. I'm actually gonna try this one, great model, and a good lesson in lighting and highlights. Thanks again.
This is great. I’ve always been intimidated by painting flames but this looks like a quick easy way to do so, I might adapt it to make bluish purple flames
It's all about the steps here, with the colours barely mattering, good luck! Make sure to go to a deep blue/purple before the black, where I used mephiston+black you could mix it with black, it does a lot for the final finish :)
😁 thanks, man! I'd legit do it, if there were a model that that wouldn't drag on (could actually do an entire great unclean one in that time, I think, if I mixed airbrush, and brush brush)... Mhhmmm
That'll be absolutely perfect dude, it's a super impactful model. Your could paint the spikes as if they're explosions being pushed out, so go to dark in the middle, and have the ends bright, like a little meteor :)
Brilliant video, I liked the format even showing that Byron can make mistakes too but still come out with something jaw dropping. Looking forward to seeing more of the Grumpy Cabbage!
Very nice I hope one day I’m as good as you practice practice practice ,and your brushes hopefully will be blessed with your skills. I’ve just bought your full range. And lovely pallet 👍
Plenty more to come, yet! Of course you are :D never a small one. We may actually cross paths on Khorne Deamons... I love bloodthirster and juggernauts, so mine'll probably be based on those, if I do one.
How about going for the opposite and doing something really small and detailed. I've got some Halfling faces at some point in my current project and I'm really not looking forward to trying to get that precise after doing the rest of the big model.
Mhhm, we're recording in higher definition now, and I am *slightly* better at not moving around constantly while recording, maybe this is possible :D. I'm also not too great at faces, so some practise may well be needed first!
This was wonderfully informative. Thank you. Really liked the format and subject. Only one change I'd want: if the audio was muted when using the hairdryer.
This was great! Would love to see you tackle a big vehicle in one take - something like a Kratos Battle tank or a Leviathan dreadnought. Otherwise, a big centerpiece character model - Teclis, Guilliman, Void Dragon, something along those lines!
I'd like to see a one-take video on the the Brazier-style Iron Halos that the Salamanders have, maybe on Adrax Agatone? He has a bigger one than the ones found on the Salamanders upgrade kits.
Interesting! Don't know when/if i'll ever paint a fire elemental, but the knowledge is safely stored. :D As for "no cuts". Don't really care, as long as the video is clear/understandable. But, the more information the better. (: Also, really need to know how to paint white "ethereal/glowing wings". *pretty please* :D Maybe frozen ethereal wings? :D
hey there This may sound a little dumb But would you ever do one of these same sort of tutorials, but for blue flames? I kinda want to replicate this for an 3d printed explosion but I want to do it blue like Plasma instead of fire yellow
Hey buddy, I *love* terrain, historically it's not something that does amazingly on RUclips, which is a shame because it's fun, perfect for drybrushing, and people relax when they paint it, which helps loads. We used it on our intro to drybrushing guide for this reason. I have been thinking about a video where I paint a table of terrain though, and this could be perfect for it, or at least part of it.
Nice effects, I'll have to try it. A quick question. The 'upcoming' label, is that something done by RUclips or do you add it yourself. Second only to irrelevant adverts (stupid algorithms), clicking on an interesting looking post and then realising it wont play for another couple if days is the most irritating thing.
An airbrush won't do this, buddy, they're volume based, rather than texture-based. If I used one I'd use it to block out the first couple of stages, and maybe dusty black on tips, but I want the bits that stick out more to get hit more. Obvs airbrush is speedy, though!
Not many tutorials really show how the paints are mixed or watered down or show each step that is done which is really helpful when you are new to painting. So please keep this up this is great!
Noted, we'll make sure to keep including it, it's one of the things I struggled with when I was beginning back in the hobby!
This comment made me think of that meme on how to draw an owl ("draw two circles ... then draw the rest of the owl"). It is good to see everything in real time rather than being told to do something
I like this format - interested in seeing how to do an ice/frost equivalent of this.
Oh no, multiple ice requests... and it's a good idea! I'm going to have to do some studying and learning before I can bring that out! :)
@@ArtisOpus how's that ice tutorial coming :P

Our pleasure dude, it's why they're in there! Thanks for the kind words.
I like the point-of-view camera angle. It helps translate what I see in the video into what I see when painting.
Thanks, Mark, it's a little awkward, but with some adjustment we should have it down, we're keen to get stuff as close as possible to first-person :)
Hi Byron, jut wanted to say your tutorials (and brushes!) have really made a difference in improving my painting, and sped up my processing by dozens and dozens of hours at this point. So yeah, just a thank you for all the effort you put into these.
Same, you are a great teacher.
I love the back ground music you use, so uplifting. Beautiful work as always 👍🏻

That's great. Really good video. Thanks. I'll save this for future projects that have flames.
Cheers! Hopefully you can put it to good use, it'll work with other colours too, just swap out and follow the same method.
This is great. I’ve always been intimidated by painting flames but this looks like a quick easy way to do so, I might adapt it to make bluish purple flames

@@ArtisOpus awesome thanks for the advice!
very nice tutorial, makes a lot of sense, thanks
Thanks, buddy :)
This is very helpful. Would love to see more of these if you have the time. Thank you Byron
It's a speedy format, so I should do! Thinking about which to do next currently :)
excellent format, I think people would be perfectly happy to watch a 90 minute take in 90 minutes
😁 thanks, man! I'd legit do it, if there were a model that that wouldn't drag on (could actually do an entire great unclean one in that time, I think, if I mixed airbrush, and brush brush)... Mhhmmm
Awesome. Tha m you, this looks amazing. I look forward to practicing this myself.
This is great Byron, im definitely going to try it on my firey purple sun to try and make its glow/flames more realistic
That'll be absolutely perfect dude, it's a super impactful model.

Not long to wait, buddy! Thanks :) cabbage went very well, but not perfectly, so you'll get a little more of it in the next!
This is going to help with my sisters army soo much
Ahh of course! They're perfect for it, all the flames :)
Great stuff as always. Thanks for the one take
Our pleasure, my dude :)

Thanks m8 everything arrived today they look great I watch you daily so I’ll be in touch if needed again thanks. Steven.
I loved it!
Thanks, buddy!
This format was excellent. More, please=)
Noted! :)
Amazing video, can't wait to watch more like this! Thank you!
We're thinking what else could benefit from it, sure there's some great recipients! Cheers, buddy :)
Super useful, thank you 🙏
Welcome as ever, buddy
Thanks, Byron
Excellent tutorial , I could almost feel the heat 🤣🤣🤣
The burning head looks amazing! Next time i have to paint flames, i try the Tutorial :) what i realy like too see, is a similar turorial for ice.
Wow, throwing transparency into the mix! This is something I will have to study a bit, great idea :)
@@ArtisOpus i´m sure you can nail it :)
Ah I missed the premier,. No problem I'll watch it now. That end result looked nuts.
Same! 😢
Yesterday I could've sworn it said 21.00 BST not 19.. 😢
Sorry buddy, we'll be back to normal for the next, or the one after, once I've had enough baguettes :)
Next time, buddy
Wonderfull! How about a similar treatment for frost and ice.
You're not the first to ask for this one, it's a bit more complex, but I will see if I an find a good mini to learn on!
More armies! Another great video Byron! Can't wait for the nurgle one. I'm painting a massive eldar army at the mo. Then onto Khorne Deamons!
Plenty more to come, yet! Of course you are :D never a small one. We may actually cross paths on Khorne Deamons... I love bloodthirster and juggernauts, so mine'll probably be based on those, if I do one.
@@ArtisOpus I'm planning on painting lots of bloodletters and juggernauts! Juggernauts are the coolest! Looking forward to the next vid!
Byron is the master! 🔥🔥🔥🥰👌👊🐶
We'll see: nowhere to hide with one-cut videos!

Thanks mate, great suggestion! Not one of my strongpoints, so it'd need a bit of practise, first :)

Scary! The large stuff really would work well, but as a timelapse, or a tutorial?
@@ArtisOpus either-or! Your vids are always informative and interesting, regardless of what you paint. Definitely a top painting channel.

Thanks for the amazing tutorials! Just wondering if you have given any more thought to a bronze tutorial?
I have, dude, all my ways are pretty gold-based, though, I need to push outside of my normal paints, and find some good ones!
Videos no audio are a no no. Part of the learning is hearing presenters like you explaining what you are doing and why
Interesting!

It mmight sound weird, but I would love a tutorial of how to make black armour appealing
We've got a couple! Check out our stormcast dragon, and black armour tutorials, as well as black templars, we've got a few! All in different styles.
@@ArtisOpus Thanks!! I will

I guess that's a YT thing, dude, or I've somehow enabled something that I don't understand.... which is entirely possible!
@@ArtisOpus I suspect the former tbh ;-)
this is good ye
Cheers, my man :)
plasma guns.. in various colours.. using drybrushing..
I think it would be rude not to do this, various sizes, too!
Too bad I can't afford these brushes...
Pro tip use airbrush to make flames easy peasy

Can I put 2 of this in my army? Im New to AoS
No. Each wizard can only have one endless spell and they cannot be duplicated.
@@hobbycathartic oh thanks , guess I go with big model instead
There's another very cool looking spell (flaming teeth one). You could paint both and use them both in your army of you wanted :)
🥵🥵🥵
We hope so!
