Big thanks to Monolith for the early access! Been playing this new update for a few days now, and I hope all of you get to enjoy it as much as I have when it arrives tomorrow! There's some stuff in the update that won't be in the patch notes and I didn't talk about here. Who knows... Maybe you'll meet some new people while playing... What's your opinion on the new changes? Are you planning to restart the whole game, or did you stop at Act IV beforehand to only play the new Shadow Wars?
Hey Uruks Hollow I have a problem: I got myself a nemesis in the forge and then played SoW and after finishing the game I wanted a new nemesis so I deleated both games in the normal menu and started a new game and replayed SoM. After that I started a new SoW game but in the Arena Mission was still my old nemesis. To get a new nemesis to I have to deleate the whole game so I lose everything (like the garrison or boosts) or can I restart the game in the normal game task bar?
I had a blast when I did that, also never used the lootboxes and mtx in general since they completely broke immersion. I couldn't consider it a grind at all still.
Hehe, it's great to be part of this community! I appreciate that Monolith has given me and other content creators some love in the past few months too.
Uruk's Hollow I just hope that we'll get next game and management will leave devs to make a new game without too much interference this time. Unlikely, but I still want to hope. The problem is that our new main character(unless we get Baranor back too) is a bit underwhelming and storyline has gone just over the top. However it would still be fun to see a game happening during Ellesar's reign, when elves are leaving, dwarves and humans are rebuilding, orcs just attempt to build their own society without any master and so on. They can make a lot of guest appearances from books without having trouble with storyline and even open up some renown location to the player. Though some variety might be required further on.
I think the next Shadow of will take a lot from this update. I feel like a lot of people who didn't jump in originally will now. That's what I did lol.

There'll probably be some balance like not being able to do it twice in the same fight, and I'm guessing after that they'll either stay dead or they can cheat death like normal captains.
Victor 62627, but that’s the point if you have to rely on gear to make it work it’s weaker, empress and General are pretty weak against high level captains and overlords who are immune to range and resistant to curse.
Francois Latulippe i think it's removed because they said that the chances to cheat death are the same like they are at the beginning of the game. But i think that there never was a limit but i don't know!
Deine Mama well you are right. There was never a limit of death cheat that could happen in game but the number that was "forced" if the orc had a sufficient nemesis score, was around 10. After that, you needed to rely on pure luck for interesting orcs to cheat death.
The supposed limit was a thing in SoM only. SoW doesn't seem to have it, but the chances to cheat death after a while diminished too much so it felt like you had hit a cap. With the new increased chance to cheat death, this Nemesis System feature will feel constant throughout an entire playthrough.
Eh. Technically the Indefinite Shadow Wars could be seen as the rest of it. I say this knowing I would have preferred a longer Shadow Wars. Say 6 stages for each of the pieces we earn. That would have been better I think. #ISurvivedOldShadowWars
Espadas I totally agree but they already ruined that lore when they released the blade of Galadriel dlc in which she takes a couple forts in “ the same decades “ that he fights the forces of mordor. Like I beat the dlc in an hour but the og shadow wars took me three days witch for all its faults felt like it could be decades in game. Sigh oh well

Brandon Guzman He is still in the game. I've seen some people claim that they would find an orc called "the merchant" who looks like the headhunter. He doesn't say any unique lines though.
He is still in the game under the title "the Merchant" as a regular Nemesis Captain indeed. 😀😀 Straight from the source, which makes me think that "the Headhunter" that Bag of Rats talks about isn't actually the Merchant, but rather the unknown/unseen one that hands you Online Vendettas nowadays, since you can get new recruits via them now. 😁😁
Minas Morgul certain could use an overhaul, I think. Region is quite lacking in certain aspects compared to the others. Sadly, I don't think it's going to change at all, since the devs said there won't be any more content updates.
Uruk's Hollow i wish they did it similar to how Dying light devs did it with small content drops like a small new gamemode like 2v2 orc brawls or one piece or two of new gear each month or a new skin or sumthin, but im likin this so far, but i hope they will balance some sets, and reworking the throwing knives might be a good idea quickshot was amazing and i hope talion could have it as well
Me too and with special sige upgrades like morgul iron door which looks like in the movie or the tower of the dead like emeyes killed have a chance to resurect in your army

Guess I have to agree on that too since the Mask itself is pretty damn awesome as well. Though I just said Undying is probably the best because you can never have a difficult time on fighting Defender captains :)
The Tark Lord each player has their playstyle so you cant just say "nah". Whats good for his style may be bad for someone elses. Besides if i had a penny for everytime a captain or warchief that wasnt immune to curse and how useless it was if it wasnt a mortal weakness id be rich. In other words its only cool for CC on grunts. But if your playstyle is [grunt-hate] then its good. If youre a captain/chief killer Undying is better.

I really hope they put a nazgul skin at some point..that would be so cool and if they could add the original screech of the nazgul...thatd be amazing like when u summon all those ghost dudes..either way the masks are awesome!
Still saddened by the graphical downgrade, but eh the game's fun and it was probably a sacrifice for the forts. Like the textures are fine but the lighting and shadows are off (sometimes literally) and I find it distracting.
Now to figure out which mask I'll be wearing... Nah, screw it. I'll just wear them all! Thanks for the video mate, I was dying to see that fifth mask haha. I didn't buy Shadow of War off release due to the loot crates, not because of them in general, but because it upset the nemesis system in my eyes. I was so happy when they took the feedback, and not only took the market out, but built a new system around it. So excited for tomorrow!
Gamin' Reasons, won’t lie that was my exact same thinking when fighting an overlord, but the base nazgul masks makes dashing not a focus chugger, id definitely say suladins and the sister are the weakest.
Tyler Ellis Empress looks like it would be great if you used it alongside the Mystic weapons since each Wraith gets progressively more powerful. The general would be good alongside Terror gear.

I don't know about the rest of you but I haven't stopped playing. I have over 300 hours into this game and have done 12 full playthroughs just trying to get new orcs. this update is huge for me and is going to be a lot of fun
GAH!!! I stopped playing the Shadow Wars at stage ten because I thought I had heard somewhere that there were twenty and I figured I’d just wait for the update and start over. GAH!!!
Those masks are awesome! I also look forward to use the celebrimbor skin on my bright lord profile, its abit more limited then a dark talion build by not advancing the story..so no prestige skills, but you get to keep elven rage and the dialogue between Talion and CB. Always back-up your saves!
What will happen to any orks with more than two epic traits? I just did that to my overlord and necromancer, and I’m rather proud of my master works. Thee epic traits for the win!
DJ Pöppit i6 was an old glitch regarding legendarys and class epic traits. Take an leg orc that does not have a class epic ( epic rage, bombs, Graig call, ect...) and give him that order, than that and the other trait should be permanent. BUT if you gave him a new epic training order of any kind, that would be applied Without overriding an existing one. I have a pal who even has !4! Epic traits on some of his guys. Sadly, that fun bit has been expunged. In any case, existing super orcs have been spared, so go online and hunt the ones you can, before they slowly die out.
ChromeADomeStone looks who's talking.you seem to be trying to defend the one thing that was keeping the game from achieving better scores.there's a reason why they are taking the market down and remaking the shadow wars in the first place and that is because we complained about how this single player game that didn't even needed to have microtransactions in the first place went out of it's way to make you try and spent on gear or orcs(something that affected the nemesis system as well mind you) or the alternative that was some of the worst grinding you could ever imagine for an RPG.SPECIALLY IN THE SHADOW WARS.so no.its not bitching.we raised our voices and demanded for a better game and they delivered
Nice video. 1 thing you didn't mention is that the 1st 2 times you shame a orc now they CANT become deranged or a maniac. This allows you to delevel a orc who's personality you like without the risk of making him be a groaning zombie. Next to that great video keep it up.
Gamin' Reasons So I just re watched the stream and we are both right. At close to the 11 min mark in the monolith video where they talk about shaming changes they state that the 1st 2 times you shame a captain it will ONLY effect his lvl, after that the shamings start to have negative effects on other areas of the orc. So if what they said holds true then both their mental state and thier stats won't be negatively effected (they did mention that lvl specific stats can be lost still though)
Hell yes! The new legendary spawn rate is immediately noticeable, and also every defense has at least one guaranteed Legendary, but there can be more! One of the sieges I had during the early access had three.
3:48 Holy shit I've wanted that since I first completed Arc III. I always hated that we could only summon wights with wrath and how little they lasted. I'm so happy lol.
The Mask of the Undying is my goto. I try and play with the others, but none of them are as good. I always thought all the shadow wars gear abilities should have been put in a new endgame skill tree branch called "Necromancer". I also wish they'd added a transmog system for your gear. There's so many awesome looking gear items but if you want to be a badass necromancer then you are gonna be using the black ringwraith armor and the bronze and purple swords. There's so many beautiful and cool looking gear in the game and I'd like to use it. There's quite a few sword and dagger sets that'd go much better visually with the necromancer armor. Oh well.....

Hi, I've been away from SoW since 2017 Christmas and I have a couple of questions. 1. Is there finally an ability to change the color variant of the armor? 2. Were there any non legendary armor sets? 3. Can I still buy xp boosts? *Please*
So now I can actually get loot from online battles... sweet. Good for Monolith for giving the players incentive for playing. I will murder every single legendary Captain I find.
So I've been playing the new update, but the orcs at the start of the sieges don't talk at all. They just grunt and growl. This is really disappointing and frankly frustrating. Is there an explanation?
Love this update but I think it would have been better if they had made it 5-6 stages of shadow war. I think I am one of the few people that actually really enjoyed the long shadow wars lol
They finally fixed the god awful pit fight AI, thank god. I hated doing pit fights because I’d always have a captain just taunt the entire time. I’m glad monolith is still sticking with the game and improving it.
Are you planning on making an updated Cheating Death video now that they changed the way that the mechanic works? I haven't quite figured it out myself yet, it seems a little buggy now.
I've just started to replay the game recently, and I won't be restarting it again (maybe sadly, but... I'm also not too far that it actually starts to cause anything bad for me).
I got in the game, but I don't have it clear. How does the new level cap work? Should I focus the prestige skill and forget about the skills or do I not need to worry as I'm able to max out everything?
Okay while I love basically everything about the update I have found the online sieges to be a bit much when facing the overlord and 2 bodyguards especially when they have immunities like being arrow proof and also traits such as fanatical gangs and being enraged constantly. It can be a bit much sometimes especially since most orcs are legendary now. My fortress has defended against basically every siege and while that is all nice and dandy I think it proves my point
Collin Watts make sure to use a bodyguard of your own in that fight and see if you can play their weaknesses or even enraged states against eachother, such as a hunter bodyguard throwing spears at you while you stand behind the overlord for cover
The update mentioned that you can now dominate captains online and keep them. does that exclude vendetta targets because the two i just dominated didnt join my army
So I just updated the game and the first thing I noticed was that the skill that regains all health if you drain or dominate An orc doesn't work?!?! Anyone else has this issue?!?!

Victor 62627 Generic + High King. I love dashing around, but the focus drain would always get in the way, and I prefer wights over revenants.

I prefer the old shadow wars. only 3 stages? 5 fort defenses? That is not a war that Talion faces for "decades"

Maybe Talion's revive time takes a few years, as quite a few captains say they enjoy the time after a Talion kill the most.
Talion is there for 10 years, that doesn't mean the players should be too

I was hoping one of the nazgul masks or prestige skills would grant the player the nazgul flight like how they turn into smoke
BLUE MATRIX36 the basic one lets you teleport and zip around focus free though, its not the same as flying but its very good

I don't know about the rest of you but I haven't stopped playing. I have over 300 hours into this game and have done 12 full playthroughs just trying to get new orcs. this update is huge for me and is going to be a lot of fun

GAH!!! I stopped playing the Shadow Wars at stage ten because I thought I had heard somewhere that there were twenty and I figured I’d just wait for the update and start over. GAH!!!
Those masks are awesome! I also look forward to use the celebrimbor skin on my bright lord profile, its abit more limited then a dark talion build by not advancing the story..so no prestige skills, but you get to keep elven rage and the dialogue between Talion and CB. Always back-up your saves!
Finally added dialogue to defensive sieges, love that they added this.
What will happen to any orks with more than two epic traits? I just did that to my overlord and necromancer, and I’m rather proud of my master works. Thee epic traits for the win!
DJ Pöppit i6 was an old glitch regarding legendarys and class epic traits. Take an leg orc that does not have a class epic ( epic rage, bombs, Graig call, ect...) and give him that order, than that and the other trait should be permanent. BUT if you gave him a new epic training order of any kind, that would be applied Without overriding an existing one. I have a pal who even has !4! Epic traits on some of his guys. Sadly, that fun bit has been expunged. In any case, existing super orcs have been spared, so go online and hunt the ones you can, before they slowly die out.

ChromeADomeStone looks who's talking.you seem to be trying to defend the one thing that was keeping the game from achieving better scores.there's a reason why they are taking the market down and remaking the shadow wars in the first place and that is because we complained about how this single player game that didn't even needed to have microtransactions in the first place went out of it's way to make you try and spent on gear or orcs(something that affected the nemesis system as well mind you) or the alternative that was some of the worst grinding you could ever imagine for an RPG.SPECIALLY IN THE SHADOW WARS.so no.its not bitching.we raised our voices and demanded for a better game and they delivered

Nice video. 1 thing you didn't mention is that the 1st 2 times you shame a orc now they CANT become deranged or a maniac. This allows you to delevel a orc who's personality you like without the risk of making him be a groaning zombie. Next to that great video keep it up.
It's not that they don't become deranged/maniac. It's that they don't become permanently weaker from their first two shames.

Gamin' Reasons So I just re watched the stream and we are both right. At close to the 11 min mark in the monolith video where they talk about shaming changes they state that the 1st 2 times you shame a captain it will ONLY effect his lvl, after that the shamings start to have negative effects on other areas of the orc. So if what they said holds true then both their mental state and thier stats won't be negatively effected (they did mention that lvl specific stats can be lost still though)

Hell yes! The new legendary spawn rate is immediately noticeable, and also every defense has at least one guaranteed Legendary, but there can be more! One of the sieges I had during the early access had three.

The Mask of the Undying is my goto. I try and play with the others, but none of them are as good.
I always thought all the shadow wars gear abilities should have been put in a new endgame skill tree branch called "Necromancer". I also wish they'd added a transmog system for your gear. There's so many awesome looking gear items but if you want to be a badass necromancer then you are gonna be using the black ringwraith armor and the bronze and purple swords. There's so many beautiful and cool looking gear in the game and I'd like to use it. There's quite a few sword and dagger sets that'd go much better visually with the necromancer armor. Oh well.....

Hi, I've been away from SoW since 2017 Christmas and I have a couple of questions.
1. Is there finally an ability to change the color variant of the armor?
2. Were there any non legendary armor sets?
3. Can I still buy xp boosts? *Please*
if this update came on launch day, then shadow of war would have been game of the year material
So now I can actually get loot from online battles... sweet. Good for Monolith for giving the players incentive for playing. I will murder every single legendary Captain I find.
So what happens if you recruit an orc in Online Vendettas from Slaughter/Outlaw Tribe when you don't have those DLCs? And what about legendary gear?
So I've been playing the new update, but the orcs at the start of the sieges don't talk at all. They just grunt and growl. This is really disappointing and frankly frustrating. Is there an explanation?

Love this update but I think it would have been better if they had made it 5-6 stages of shadow war.
I think I am one of the few people that actually really enjoyed the long shadow wars lol
They finally fixed the god awful pit fight AI, thank god. I hated doing pit fights because I’d always have a captain just taunt the entire time. I’m glad monolith is still sticking with the game and improving it.

Necromancers can resurrect themselves if they are killed. Not always, though.
for me, the big question is can we transfer our currently recruited Uruks to the garrison for free transfer between regions?
I got in the game, but I don't have it clear. How does the new level cap work? Should I focus the prestige skill and forget about the skills or do I not need to worry as I'm able to max out everything?
Your able to max out everything and u can keep prestiging when u reach max level

Okay while I love basically everything about the update I have found the online sieges to be a bit much when facing the overlord and 2 bodyguards especially when they have immunities like being arrow proof and also traits such as fanatical gangs and being enraged constantly. It can be a bit much sometimes especially since most orcs are legendary now. My fortress has defended against basically every siege and while that is all nice and dandy I think it proves my point
Collin Watts make sure to use a bodyguard of your own in that fight and see if you can play their weaknesses or even enraged states against eachother, such as a hunter bodyguard throwing spears at you while you stand behind the overlord for cover

Since the update there was a mask where it summons a elemental graug depending which region your on. like if you use this mask I’m talking about.
I’m a bit sad that you only get the Nazgul masks via Shadow War stages, but who cares, they’re a great addition that exists
whats happens if you where in the middle of the shadow wars when the update comes out? (I think I was on stage 5 or 6)
The update mentioned that you can now dominate captains online and keep them. does that exclude vendetta targets because the two i just dominated didnt join my army

So I just updated the game and the first thing I noticed was that the skill that regains all health if you drain or dominate An orc doesn't work?!?!
