Big thanks to Monolith for the early access! Been playing this new update for a few days now, and I hope all of you get to enjoy it as much as I have when it arrives tomorrow! There's some stuff in the update that won't be in the patch notes and I didn't talk about here. Who knows... Maybe you'll meet some new people while playing... What's your opinion on the new changes? Are you planning to restart the whole game, or did you stop at Act IV beforehand to only play the new Shadow Wars?
Hey Uruks Hollow I have a problem: I got myself a nemesis in the forge and then played SoW and after finishing the game I wanted a new nemesis so I deleated both games in the normal menu and started a new game and replayed SoM. After that I started a new SoW game but in the Arena Mission was still my old nemesis. To get a new nemesis to I have to deleate the whole game so I lose everything (like the garrison or boosts) or can I restart the game in the normal game task bar?
I had a blast when I did that, also never used the lootboxes and mtx in general since they completely broke immersion. I couldn't consider it a grind at all still.
Hehe, it's great to be part of this community! I appreciate that Monolith has given me and other content creators some love in the past few months too.
Uruk's Hollow I just hope that we'll get next game and management will leave devs to make a new game without too much interference this time. Unlikely, but I still want to hope. The problem is that our new main character(unless we get Baranor back too) is a bit underwhelming and storyline has gone just over the top. However it would still be fun to see a game happening during Ellesar's reign, when elves are leaving, dwarves and humans are rebuilding, orcs just attempt to build their own society without any master and so on. They can make a lot of guest appearances from books without having trouble with storyline and even open up some renown location to the player. Though some variety might be required further on.
I think the next Shadow of will take a lot from this update. I feel like a lot of people who didn't jump in originally will now. That's what I did lol.

There'll probably be some balance like not being able to do it twice in the same fight, and I'm guessing after that they'll either stay dead or they can cheat death like normal captains.
Victor 62627, but that’s the point if you have to rely on gear to make it work it’s weaker, empress and General are pretty weak against high level captains and overlords who are immune to range and resistant to curse.
Francois Latulippe i think it's removed because they said that the chances to cheat death are the same like they are at the beginning of the game. But i think that there never was a limit but i don't know!
Deine Mama well you are right. There was never a limit of death cheat that could happen in game but the number that was "forced" if the orc had a sufficient nemesis score, was around 10. After that, you needed to rely on pure luck for interesting orcs to cheat death.
The supposed limit was a thing in SoM only. SoW doesn't seem to have it, but the chances to cheat death after a while diminished too much so it felt like you had hit a cap. With the new increased chance to cheat death, this Nemesis System feature will feel constant throughout an entire playthrough.
*IT'S NOW ONLY 3 STAGES NOW?!?* Gee that would've been handy 9 months ago. Would've made the brain-dead AI in the pit fights that slight bit more tolerable.
dcfencer If you did the endgame without buying orcs (The orcs you could buy for in-game money was more then good enough, but some obviously wanted to use "their orcs" instead of bought orcs) then the pits was a way to level them.

Eh. Technically the Indefinite Shadow Wars could be seen as the rest of it. I say this knowing I would have preferred a longer Shadow Wars. Say 6 stages for each of the pieces we earn. That would have been better I think. #ISurvivedOldShadowWars
Espadas I totally agree but they already ruined that lore when they released the blade of Galadriel dlc in which she takes a couple forts in “ the same decades “ that he fights the forces of mordor. Like I beat the dlc in an hour but the og shadow wars took me three days witch for all its faults felt like it could be decades in game. Sigh oh well
I only played the game when it came out to the end of act IV, all these updates made me want to play it again but probably by the DLCs too, Monolith did an awesome job the past few months, making this game one of tje best of the year I think^^
From Shadow of Mordor up to Shadow of War, you've made my experience with these games that more special. I seriously enjoyed what you had to offer, from uruk voice actors and game exploits to the entire gameplay of the campaign and inside-outs of the nemesis system. It all had to come to an end eventually. I appreciate your content and hope you're doing well!
Woohoo Monolith finally got the point.. hopefully they continue making such great games and continue to put us the consumer over there financial greed.. Monolith should be the future model all game developers use.. We as consumers do not want micro transactions..
Keep in mind that it was most likely wb games idea not monoliths. You have to appease the publisher if you want to have a game published. Witch includes adding any features they want.
IDK about that, WB is pretty greedy. I think monolith generally wanted to make it a better game before leaving. If anything I'd say loot crates was a WB request in the first place.

Back when BoG came out, I shared a pic of Cursed Eltariel and expressed my desire of it being a permanent skin. However, I did see a lot of people jumping into a hate bandwagon and calling Monolith "lazy". I thought that was a bit over-the-top reaction from some fans. We should appreciate the work the devs are putting into this free update, and criticize in a civilized manner.
Uruk's Hollow I know. I won't be using the skin, but I'm not one of those people who will call Monolith lazy. I'm so thankful for the rest of the update, I can't wait for the new gear specifically. I felt bad for Jared in the last stream because everybody continued to hate on him for the next hour.
well personally i do feel that it's just a teeny bit lazy to just throw in another elta skin. they could've easily put sauron as a skin(his assets are in the base game anyway). i would've loved walking around as fair form sauron.
RIP Headhunter. Pay F for respects. Actually, it would be cool if fe was still around, if only so he could recruit friendly grunts in the fort and save time on the hunt. They could be at level one so you have the pleasure of raising them from scratch.
Brandon Guzman He is still in the game. I've seen some people claim that they would find an orc called "the merchant" who looks like the headhunter. He doesn't say any unique lines though.
He is still in the game under the title "the Merchant" as a regular Nemesis Captain indeed. 😀😀 Straight from the source, which makes me think that "the Headhunter" that Bag of Rats talks about isn't actually the Merchant, but rather the unknown/unseen one that hands you Online Vendettas nowadays, since you can get new recruits via them now. 😁😁
Minas Morgul certain could use an overhaul, I think. Region is quite lacking in certain aspects compared to the others. Sadly, I don't think it's going to change at all, since the devs said there won't be any more content updates.
Uruk's Hollow i wish they did it similar to how Dying light devs did it with small content drops like a small new gamemode like 2v2 orc brawls or one piece or two of new gear each month or a new skin or sumthin, but im likin this so far, but i hope they will balance some sets, and reworking the throwing knives might be a good idea quickshot was amazing and i hope talion could have it as well
Me too and with special sige upgrades like morgul iron door which looks like in the movie or the tower of the dead like emeyes killed have a chance to resurect in your army
I'll certainly be using them a lot more now. Will be great to just raise a bunch of Captains you don't really care about and bring them to Online Siege. If they die, no big deal, you can just bring them back over and over again.
I’m a little disappointed in the dark elterial skin don’t get me wrong it looks cool but I was hoping for a armored Sauron skin or something like that but I’m still super hyped for the update
I would of loved to have the Witch-King's mask, it would of been so cool! I'm not sure what its legendary buffs would be but I imagine it would have something to do with dominating, such as 50% faster dominating speed.

I bought the game a few days ago bcs I finally had money for it (Debt problems and shit) so happy with it as I am a really big fan of LotR. Had the game pre-ordered but had to cancel it. now I love it and am really happy with the updates and less grind. props for you if you actually did the grind.
Just so much yes for this. I didn't expect them to make this many changes and additions so I am looking forward to getting back to playing the game again.

Guess I have to agree on that too since the Mask itself is pretty damn awesome as well. Though I just said Undying is probably the best because you can never have a difficult time on fighting Defender captains :)
The Tark Lord each player has their playstyle so you cant just say "nah". Whats good for his style may be bad for someone elses. Besides if i had a penny for everytime a captain or warchief that wasnt immune to curse and how useless it was if it wasnt a mortal weakness id be rich. In other words its only cool for CC on grunts. But if your playstyle is [grunt-hate] then its good. If youre a captain/chief killer Undying is better.
I'm well aware that everyone has their own playstyle, thank you. I'm just saying that *I* think the Mask of the General is better. I thought people would understand that. Apparently not.
The Tark Lord you didnt state that you just straight up said "nah this is better". You could have said "i think this is better because xyz". There is a difference. Thought people would understand how to speak to others by now. But i guess not. If you understand others have a style then you could see from his statement he simply said its great for engagement and it absolutely is. That is all.
Still saddened by the graphical downgrade, but eh the game's fun and it was probably a sacrifice for the forts. Like the textures are fine but the lighting and shadows are off (sometimes literally) and I find it distracting.
Now to figure out which mask I'll be wearing... Nah, screw it. I'll just wear them all! Thanks for the video mate, I was dying to see that fifth mask haha. I didn't buy Shadow of War off release due to the loot crates, not because of them in general, but because it upset the nemesis system in my eyes. I was so happy when they took the feedback, and not only took the market out, but built a new system around it. So excited for tomorrow!
Currently I'm on stage 10 of Shadow Wars. I've done basically everything except complete the whole collection of Legendary Gear. I did fully level up all of the unique legendary gear. (Bright Lord, Vendetta, and Ringwraith) I have 7 skill points left over after unlocking everything so it'll be nice to have that circle gone. Very excited for basically everything in the update especially the new gear.
Gamin' Reasons, won’t lie that was my exact same thinking when fighting an overlord, but the base nazgul masks makes dashing not a focus chugger, id definitely say suladins and the sister are the weakest.
Tyler Ellis Empress looks like it would be great if you used it alongside the Mystic weapons since each Wraith gets progressively more powerful. The general would be good alongside Terror gear.
For some reason Orcs in my world(especially the ones I have interactions with)don’t seem to cheat death even hours after killing them,they rarely ever comeback and tbh it’s worrying me because they clearly said that orcs now would cheat death at the same rate in the first act,which was one of the main reasons why I was hyped for this update but now I’m kinda let down.I don’t know if it’s just me because I hope that’s not the case.

What will happen to any orks with more than two epic traits? I just did that to my overlord and necromancer, and I’m rather proud of my master works. Thee epic traits for the win!
DJ Pöppit i6 was an old glitch regarding legendarys and class epic traits. Take an leg orc that does not have a class epic ( epic rage, bombs, Graig call, ect...) and give him that order, than that and the other trait should be permanent. BUT if you gave him a new epic training order of any kind, that would be applied Without overriding an existing one. I have a pal who even has !4! Epic traits on some of his guys. Sadly, that fun bit has been expunged. In any case, existing super orcs have been spared, so go online and hunt the ones you can, before they slowly die out.
I don't know about the rest of you but I haven't stopped playing. I have over 300 hours into this game and have done 12 full playthroughs just trying to get new orcs. this update is huge for me and is going to be a lot of fun
I'm actually annoyed they reduced the size of the shadow wars. Its good there is a story element but the war felt long and tedious and fit the narrative
Yeah I agree although I think there should have been a stage for each gear piece. I think the indefinite Shadow Wars actually make the point quite well.

Well, I think there is a handful of new dialogue fron shelob before efenses, so during endless siege, I'm pretty sure the dialogue is randomly chosen from the new quotes from her. Not 100% sure though.
I really hope they put a nazgul skin at some point..that would be so cool and if they could add the original screech of the nazgul...thatd be amazing like when u summon all those ghost dudes..either way the masks are awesome!

Hell yes! The new legendary spawn rate is immediately noticeable, and also every defense has at least one guaranteed Legendary, but there can be more! One of the sieges I had during the early access had three.

It's important to acknowledge those who really pour time into your game, especially with SoW being more of a cult hit.

Victor 62627 Generic + High King. I love dashing around, but the focus drain would always get in the way, and I prefer wights over revenants.

Maybe Talion's revive time takes a few years, as quite a few captains say they enjoy the time after a Talion kill the most.
Talion is there for 10 years, that doesn't mean the players should be too

I wish there was a way to use Elven Wrath again. I created a whole build to use it but then it was replaced with Ringwraith which isn't as good.

Minas Morgul certain could use an overhaul, I think. Region is quite lacking in certain aspects compared to the others. Sadly, I don't think it's going to change at all, since the devs said there won't be any more content updates.
Uruk's Hollow i wish they did it similar to how Dying light devs did it with small content drops like a small new gamemode like 2v2 orc brawls or one piece or two of new gear each month or a new skin or sumthin, but im likin this so far, but i hope they will balance some sets, and reworking the throwing knives might be a good idea quickshot was amazing and i hope talion could have it as well

So glad they buffed the undead captains. Now they actually are viable in my opinion.
I'll certainly be using them a lot more now. Will be great to just raise a bunch of Captains you don't really care about and bring them to Online Siege. If they die, no big deal, you can just bring them back over and over again.

I’m a little disappointed in the dark elterial skin don’t get me wrong it looks cool but I was hoping for a armored Sauron skin or something like that but I’m still super hyped for the update

I would of loved to have the Witch-King's mask, it would of been so cool! I'm not sure what its legendary buffs would be but I imagine it would have something to do with dominating, such as 50% faster dominating speed.

Mask of the Undying is one of the most interesting and best mask in terms of engaging in combat. I'm glad you can get it in the first stage :)

Guess I have to agree on that too since the Mask itself is pretty damn awesome as well. Though I just said Undying is probably the best because you can never have a difficult time on fighting Defender captains :)
The Tark Lord each player has their playstyle so you cant just say "nah". Whats good for his style may be bad for someone elses. Besides if i had a penny for everytime a captain or warchief that wasnt immune to curse and how useless it was if it wasnt a mortal weakness id be rich. In other words its only cool for CC on grunts. But if your playstyle is [grunt-hate] then its good. If youre a captain/chief killer Undying is better.

The Tark Lord you didnt state that you just straight up said "nah this is better". You could have said "i think this is better because xyz". There is a difference. Thought people would understand how to speak to others by now. But i guess not. If you understand others have a style then you could see from his statement he simply said its great for engagement and it absolutely is. That is all.

Still saddened by the graphical downgrade, but eh the game's fun and it was probably a sacrifice for the forts.
Like the textures are fine but the lighting and shadows are off (sometimes literally) and I find it distracting.

Thanks for the video mate, I was dying to see that fifth mask haha. I didn't buy Shadow of War off release due to the loot crates, not because of them in general, but because it upset the nemesis system in my eyes. I was so happy when they took the feedback, and not only took the market out, but built a new system around it. So excited for tomorrow!

Currently I'm on stage 10 of Shadow Wars. I've done basically everything except complete the whole collection of Legendary Gear. I did fully level up all of the unique legendary gear. (Bright Lord, Vendetta, and Ringwraith) I have 7 skill points left over after unlocking everything so it'll be nice to have that circle gone.
Very excited for basically everything in the update especially the new gear.

Gamin' Reasons, won’t lie that was my exact same thinking when fighting an overlord, but the base nazgul masks makes dashing not a focus chugger, id definitely say suladins and the sister are the weakest.
Tyler Ellis Empress looks like it would be great if you used it alongside the Mystic weapons since each Wraith gets progressively more powerful. The general would be good alongside Terror gear.
For some reason Orcs in my world(especially the ones I have interactions with)don’t seem to cheat death even hours after killing them,they rarely ever comeback and tbh it’s worrying me because they clearly said that orcs now would cheat death at the same rate in the first act,which was one of the main reasons why I was hyped for this update but now I’m kinda let down.I don’t know if it’s just me because I hope that’s not the case.

Finally added dialogue to defensive sieges, love that they added this.
What will happen to any orks with more than two epic traits? I just did that to my overlord and necromancer, and I’m rather proud of my master works. Thee epic traits for the win!
DJ Pöppit i6 was an old glitch regarding legendarys and class epic traits. Take an leg orc that does not have a class epic ( epic rage, bombs, Graig call, ect...) and give him that order, than that and the other trait should be permanent. BUT if you gave him a new epic training order of any kind, that would be applied Without overriding an existing one. I have a pal who even has !4! Epic traits on some of his guys. Sadly, that fun bit has been expunged. In any case, existing super orcs have been spared, so go online and hunt the ones you can, before they slowly die out.
I don't know about the rest of you but I haven't stopped playing. I have over 300 hours into this game and have done 12 full playthroughs just trying to get new orcs. this update is huge for me and is going to be a lot of fun
I'm actually annoyed they reduced the size of the shadow wars. Its good there is a story element but the war felt long and tedious and fit the narrative

Kablo Noreyino for me it wasnt a grind. I was on gravewalker and had no prompts but i still had fun and it was rewarding.

Well, I think there is a handful of new dialogue fron shelob before efenses, so during endless siege, I'm pretty sure the dialogue is randomly chosen from the new quotes from her. Not 100% sure though.

Hell yes! The new legendary spawn rate is immediately noticeable, and also every defense has at least one guaranteed Legendary, but there can be more! One of the sieges I had during the early access had three.
