    You failed to mention a BIG FACT! I bought this and returned it. When you use it with the power like from an outlet through your PC it still drains the screen battery. So the battery dies no matter what. I contacted them and they designed it that way. So you cannot connect to your pc without it draining the battery on the display(while viewing on it) even when plugged into the wall. So in turn it will die and become unproductive because it forces you to stop and charge it. So it is not productive in that sense. It is better to get the one without the battery. I don't recommend people to buy this if you spend more than ~8 hours on your computer like for engineers and college students who are on their computers a lot.
    From an engineering perspective this is not a wise design because it puts unnecessary wear/cycles on your battery which could easily be avoided. I am an engineer too. I think this is a foolish design.

      Thanks Mark - this is exactly the bit i was looking for...

      Wow, that is utterly ridiculous and a dealbreaker for me.
      Really strange you HAVE to use the battery in order use the display. Which also means you CAN'T use the monitor while it's charging the battery.

    • @TheDrepsOfficial
      @TheDrepsOfficial 4 года назад +1

      Thank you for this comment, really great to know. I wish that they defaulted to using the battery for the 300 nitts then had an option to return to power over type c when it died to continue using at the older 200 nitts.

    • @QuandarNl
      @QuandarNl 4 года назад +2

      3:30 huh? It can power from pc, but you mean the power it needs is to much?

    • @schizowallflower
      @schizowallflower 4 года назад

      @@QuandarNl I think what he means is, and he can correct me if I'm wrong, is that this isn't designed to have an infinite battery; it HAS to die and recharge at some point. So if you're using it with the laptop and the laptop is running on battery, it will use the laptop's battery until it gets low. Then when the laptop gets to the point that it has to charge, it switches to the built-in battery so that the laptop can charge. That means if I understand properly; if you have a laptop at full charge and plugged into the wall, it will use its internal battery because it will tag the laptop's battery as charging itself and unavailable.

    I got the 14" version of this guy for use on my home desktop setup. I have an ultrawide monitor which is good enough for most use cases when it comes to productivity. However there are some downsides to not having two monitors - such as not being able to watch videos or keep messaging apps open on the side while playing games / working. Having one of these small 14" monitors just under my ultrawide was a perfect solution to get the best of both worlds. Definitely one of the hidden use cases for these

  • @Roman-nu1om

    I intend using a vertical set up Surface GO to wirelessly extend my desktop from a Surface Laptop 2 using the Win 10 integrated "project to device" function. Given the nearly similar DPI I'd run both displays at 150% scaling to avoid any scaling issues when moving native win32 windows between screens. Do you think mouse and input lag will be acceptable? The surface GO should run longer and be lighter than the zenscreen, it would fit into the same bag with the Laptop and would have further utility as a tablet device when used alone. Yes its smaller but screen estate should still be enough for displaying 1 evernote note or 1 website vertically. Good/bad idea - what do you think?

    Hey Daniel, you've mentioned this display has good colour accuracy. How good is it? I have the Thinkpad E480 and I'm happy with everything except the colour accuracy. I'm not a pro but I do try to edit some photos from time to time and watch or watch a movie, which is not great with the display the laptop has. Considering I travel a lot I'd really appreciate some portable display with good colour accuracy. Any tips? Is this one suitable? Thanks :)

    Need details on this issue: if I have the monitor plugged into my laptop via powered USB-C power, and my laptop is plugged into a wall outlet, will the monitor's battery still be used or not?
    In this use case the battery should NOT be touched, which would prolong it's life. The battery should only begin to drain if you CHOOSE to use it, such as if you unplug your laptop from the wall. Is this possible?

    • @daniell1869
      @daniell1869 2 года назад

      so I can confirm that the monitor's battery not only doesn't drain when connected via powered USB-C port, it actually charges it. I just attached the monitor out of the box with 39% battery to my laptop (and my laptop is running on battery alone at the moment). After fiddling with the settings and the stand and testing out some webpages, I checked the battery and it is now up to 45%!
      There is also a menu option to either 1) run from phone 2) charge battery from PC 3) no charging from PC. so you can really decide what to do to maximize your work time. this is exactly what I was hoping for. So they either fixed the issue or maybe some people's USB port wasn't putting out enough power to charge. Hope this helps.

    it blows my mind how a company like Asus would not include an HDMI port on this thing and either built in speakers or a headphone jack to connect to external speakers. What if I wanted to use my Raspberry Pi with this or the mini Genesis console? Was this thing only designed for business/presentation in mind?

    Hey! That monitor works with RTX Type-C videocard?

    • @vals9838
      @vals9838 5 лет назад

      You don't use usb c port on you graphics card. You would use usual USB C or USB A port to connect and power this display.

      LavKiv last question :) can I use it without common monitor ?

    • @vals9838
      @vals9838 5 лет назад

      @@kirillaristov7235 it is unlikely that it will show anything during boot. Moreover, you still need to install drivers before using it, whether it's manufacturer driver or Display link. I think you can use it as primary monitor then. Considering that those monitors are intended for use as secondary displays, you can meet a lot of limitations like refresh rate or not being able to enter bios during boot (guess there are many others too). Plus, good ones are expensive, and you can get a decent 1080p 144hz monitor for around $300.
