I picked up my WRX Limit (automatic) three weeks ago and I am loving it!!! Currently at 25 mpg, and climbing, about 80% highway averaging 75 mph in the morning and 65 mph to stop and go traffic on the way home. The Adaptive Cruise Control at highway speeds and stop and go highway traffic operates like exactly how I would drive it, so much better than my 2021 Jeep Gladiator Rubicon and my wife's 2020 Toyota Highlander. Large trunk for its size, plenty of leg room in the back seats behind me (6' 1"). Test drove the GTi first and loved it, dealer wouldn't come down to where I need the payments to be (cheaper to buy it and lease it), so I went to Subaru across the street, drove it and left with it. No regrets. The black plastic is growing on me and I will be thankful for it in New England's winters.

3,400lbs+, not even 300hp (let’s remember a USA version 2000 WRX STI had 300hp standard), Brembo “upgrades” (a USA version 2000 WRX STI has had Brembo’s standard for over two decades), 0-60mph in 6s (above car mentioned did it in 4.8s in year 2000)…
I’m just not sold. “You won’t believe the transformation Subaru just pulled off with this”. You’re right. I don’t believe it at all. You aren't really paying attention to economic trends,, this makes me conclude that you're still living on someone else's dime. It also confuses me, like if you are going to be a stat nerd why aren't you applying that optic to inflation, and if you're pulling historical comparisons, why aren't you comparing the TR to a higher trim WRX instead of an STI. Ultimately, with inflation in mind, spending that extra 10k you'd be forced to pay for a Civic Type R or Corolla GR on aftermarket parts will get you well beyond any stock STIs that have ever existed. $53-55000 is what a stock STI would cost today everything considered. My TR is running 350/350, has great coilovers for street and track, all of the reliability mods, just bolt ons... STI transmission is mothballed for either the transmission dying or five years from now, whichever comes first, the FA24DIT beats the shit out of the EJ.

43000 is what a Base STI would cost in 2024. 2021 WRX Base 29500, 2024 WRX Base 33,000. Apply the same logic to the 21 STI 37,300, meaning in 2024 it should be 41-43,000. This car is missing the Power, DCCD, and the STI trans.
43,000 is an Extremely Hard Pill to swallow for a Cheap/Economy Interior, 271hp.
Here's a Better Question: What happened to the Performance Package? Moon Roof Delete, Recaro's and Brembos. You used to be able to attach this to the trim you want. Now? Its a Literal Trim that Costs you 43,000. For 43,000, I am Expecting Comparability to that of a GR Corolla. But do we have that? No. We do not. Some people like buying cars that they DON'T Have to modify to be able to keep Warranty.
Putting my faith into the New Celica GT Four coming out with 400hp, AWD, 2.0l turbo until Subaru stops being so passive aggressive.
