The biggest issue with non potted hum buckers is they become microphonic. A simple coffee can of a 50/50 mix of paraffin and bees wax melted together, dropping the pickups into it, and waiting for the bubbles to cease will cure that issue. Obviously replacing them will work too, but the potting issue alone is an easy fix.

Sweet new helmet. Changing the pickups might not be as easy as you expect. A lot of these 67 V style guitars (such as my 05 Epiphone) have the bridge studs mounted on top of the pickguard. Even when all the screws are out you still can't take it off without pulling the studs. Not a huge deal for you (because I'm sure you know how to remove them without damage), but someone who doesn't might be frustrated at that point.

OK guys, you gotta love Magneto Danzig here. Even in the cheapest of circumstances, he always accentuates the positive. One of the many reasons I hit the "like" button before I even watch any of these videos. 🙂
THIS IS THE BEST UNBOXING VIDEO EVER!!! Thank you MAX! I love some of your reviews. You made it with your videos.. You presented to me a guitar of my dreams, I didnt even know something like that exist before watching your videos. And now you are jumping out dressed in knights armor plating and doing unboxings with a sword! YEAH!
My 7 year old really very badly wants a Flying V but the ones available here in India are like way above our family budgetary means. So, if there was a way you could send me to links where I can buy it for him at around 200 of your American dollars (with shipping) we'd be ever so grateful to you. I can polish and smooth the rough edges for him, so no worries on that area. I might even have better pups lying around to upgrade the pups for him. As usual, very enjoyable video.
In the 80s when I was in high school I had a Michael Shanker flying V made by Bradley think it cost me 275 bucks it was actually really cool Mahogany body and neck set in half black half white with reverse pick guard I threw in some Seymour Duncan‘s and some Schaller tuning keys and played that thing for years!
For $169.99, you can get a Jackson JS Series RR Minion JS1X in satin black. Free shipping too. Bolt on neck, but yeah, it's a Jackson. So you know it's gotta be set up good, frets and all. Jackson passive pickups as well. Probably potted.

Badass helmet. Also impressed by the intonation on that knockoff 'V'.
for that price, I think I would rather have a Jackson Minion
hey whats up man, wanted to thank you for always reviewing budget stuff, not many high end guitarist such as yourself take the time for the little guys out here that are just beginning. I followed your advice and bought a used guitar on ebay, the guitar is a LTD 100qmnt with seymour duncan pickups (tb-5 bridge and sh2 jazz neck) a hard case, a guitar tuner and guitar strap for 250 plus like 60 dollars shipping, but the guitar sounds amazing... keep up the good work
For $180, you get a guitar that stays in tune. That alone makes it worth more than a Gibson.
Great demo as always. However I have a Harley Benton victory flames classic v that was $129.00 new. It has a surprising quality for the price.
Can’t wait for a possible medieval guitar Max revival 😃
I was just thinking "look at the muscuullarrity!" and then suddenly there was a "Brawd Sawd!"
10/10 cracking unboxing.
nice unboxing outfit/gear, equally useful for unboxing and go to shopping and stuff
OK guys, you gotta love Magneto Danzig here. Even in the cheapest of circumstances, he always accentuates the positive. One of the many reasons I hit the "like" button before I even watch any of these videos. 🙂
It's got the shape of the '57 V with the scratchplate and control layout of the '67 model.
YEAH!
Absolutely creased! love your channel and videos!
Oh, wait, that reminds me, my old mum could use a new pair of good machetes for her Shaolin Aerobics class. Thanks for mentioning that.
Great video. Love the new headgear. As always, safety first. Cool guitar, thanks. I’m sure your mom will enjoy the machetes.
Hope so!
You have a great sense of humor. I appreciate that.
GREAT IDEA! My mom probably doesn’t have machetes! I should get her a Flying V too. She’s staying at home a lot these days.
A pair of machetes! Oh, man I was cracking up with that one! You are a good man.
Medieval Knight Guitar Unboxing. This is the most awesome niche unboxing category ever.
Just ordered one of these off Ebay ($189.99). Should arrive this Friday. I'll follow up with a comment on its quality and playability.
Cool video, I've actually seen that on Amazon and was wondering if it was any good so, thank you!
Already out of stock BUT...I’d spend my money on a MIJ copy over this any day of the week. The proportions screw it all up for me.
It does seem like a Great Value, though. I think that or Kirkland Signature would be excellent hs logos.
*These are my favorite unboxing videos! Love the comedy. I planned on doing unboxing vids with my chainsaw that has a bar that isn’t aggressive. Lol😅 …..what’s the worst thing that could happen? Sweet guitar!*
One of the best guitars I own was a 186$ Brownsville Flying V it was made in ny looks plays and sounds awesome needs a little work at the moment but still one of my favs
Not a bad V. Bought a Galveston for $150 about 12 years ago. Looks almost the same. Not that wide but it was same color scheme. Heavy girl, too.
Can u make a followup video to this? Hopefully u have done a setup on it and let us know how its doing now.
Hi Max , have you heard of of Hartwood guitars, they cost about £229 for a semi holow body here in the UK and make a left-hand model. Every review seems to be very positive and they seem to be extremely well made with a fantastic tone,I think made in the far east. Thanks for the videos , Mike in Durham England. Ps would a poleaxe be a safer and the spike is handy to remove any staples 😃😃😄😅😆
What an epic unboxing, you should do that more often
Hahahaha, your unboxing vids are insane, I am absolutely entertained hahaha
I checked and they only have 20 in stock but I'm pretty sure they're built from the DIY kits you can find on amazon for slightly less.
SNAP ORDERED!!! Thanks Max
