Tell ya what Al, you can't go far wrong with a mk4 golf diesel. Had mine for 5 years, its got 250,000 miles on it. I service my myself and she never misses a beat. Not pricey either. Anything with a 1.9 pd engine. Anyway fella keep ya chin up. Love watching ya videos. From a fellow cb geek!

Hi Al. I see you have a similar problem to myself regarding "local " contacts. But my problem stems from my living in the bottom of a steep sided valley. I'm near Harrogate in North Yorkshire, and can be heard as far as Barrow in Furness on the west coast, Redcar on the east coast, and as far south as Grimsby ish. But I just can't hear the guys coming back to me. Quite upsetting. LOL 73's 26 TD 01.
I feel your pain. I love DX , but I also love the local contacts, I can be heard as far south as Devon, radio can be odd sometimes. I'm going to keep experimenting though. I might crack it one day, just got to get antenna away from the flat I think.

Price of vans are through the roof. Stick with what you know; a replacement ignition lock with key from a breakers is cheap enough. It's oly Corsa parts so nothing is complex or expensive. I've had loads of Combos and they're great little vans. Also had Connects and Berlingos, and would NEVER have another one. 1.7 Combo all the way.
