What a wonderful discovery. Everyone loves Debussy. Unfortunately much of his work suffers from overexposure and popularization. So it's a pleasure to hear a fresh, new work.
I ADORE this recording ... I have listened so many times ... Beautiful expression of a beautiful piece of music. How tragic Debussy held it back. Of course he was only young when he composed it. Why do we despise the works of our youth??? It is truly a hidden gem. Well I for one never tire of listening to this ravishing music brilliantly performed. Bravo to all concerned ...
Our lives are short and fleeting, less than 100years. However, the life of Debussy‘s music eternal, and forever and immeasurable, and will transcend times and space and races of people
Nice performance. I have had the recording conducted by Jean Martinon for ages; for me, this piece conjures up visions of road trips in the deserts of California in a Ford pickup truck. . .

Very early piece, but still Debussy's own style without a doubt :) to think he was 27 when composing this gem... I am 27, not sure that any of my compositions are on that level, but maybe one day ;P Thanks for uploading this btw! Happy to be your new subscriber!
Did Debussy do his own orchestration for this? Anyone know? First time I've heard this. RUclips is amazing providing symphonic music I've never heard before.
@@grimjim100 Hey I think that's a bit harsh, it's perfectly fine for a composer to have an incredible creative idea and seek assistance for it to be set to the orchestra
Debussy hated traditional forms such as concerto and symphony and all that Italian staff that sounded like classical latin for him. His main inspiration was Mussorgsky's music which had a huge influence on him by its free form characteristics.
+Daniel Rieger First one, definitely Claude Monet (Le Promenade or Poppies, 1873(?)). Second one, strongly think this is one of Pierre-Auguste Renoir's, probably fairly early. Third one (of the ballerinas), probably Edgar Degas, they were a fave subject of his. Fourth one of the people at the outside café, definitely Pierre-Auguste Renoir (Bal du Moulin de la Galette, 1876(?)). Sorry I don't remember the exact titles/dates. They are all lovely. :)
When I thought I heard all of Debussy, I end up discovering yet another gem from the man who created an enchanting world of dreams through his music.
Love all his music
I can relate man
I love it when that happens.

Claude Debussy is my favourite composer ever!
@Jason Lesker no one asked you
@Jason Lesker Debussy > Beethoven
My second favorite after Ravel
The 2nd movement sounds very Faun like. Genious how he fits the piano in. They're not really separate ....
6:28 is one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever heard!
If I'll live through some time travel technology I want to experience Paris of late 19h century because of Debussy.
Without Debussy ,
we would have been very lonely and insipid ,
and the enjoyment and pleasures of the music would have been less
Never heard his jewel before. Thank you for your effort to put it on You Tube

very unique tempo on the slower side. Wish I could hear it live!!!!!!!!
Bellissimo!!!!
Amazing and passionate concert!
I love Debussy!
Love how Gallo holds that 5th at 22:47 and lets it blend with the strings!
GENIALFANTASTIC debussy anniversary 1918 ❤ 😢
It is merely wonderful !
So beautiful!!! Bravo, Debussy!!!!
I'm not sure how I missed this opus. Profuse thanks for posting.

Love this piece. A young Debussy.
Best version on youtube!!
Attraction and popularity of Debussy‘s music are off the charts and can't be ovetstated
Beautiful as always!! 👍👍
Oh Debussy...
All that beauty & optimism , and then 2 apocalyptic world wars would follow. Does that say anything about mankind ...
To paraphrase Moliere: not everyone can dance- and those who cannot dance go to war.

Thank you, King, from me and him! :D I find this work so charming...
+giovanni colpani The performance is actually perfect! Very good orchestra and conductor!
Muchas gracias.
Avec cela, de belles peintures
Rachmaninoff in his later works echo this style in his compositions with orchestral works
That's what I was thinking actually.
I couldn't shake the feeling that this felt Russian.

Yes it's Debussy's only work for piano and orchestra.
Unlike so many so called composers Debussy did all his own arrangements. It was rare for real composers to get someone else to do it for him.

The paintings certainly enhance the beauty of the music. Renoirs ?

Is this Romantic style? I'm new to classical enjoyment. But I am loving the harmonic choices of the first 2 minutes.
late romantic. specifically, late 19th century - early 20th century.
It's kinda hard to find somewhere to buy the sheet music from
