Watch 'Wild Germany: The Mecklenburg Lake Plateau' here: • Wild Germany: The Meck...
Eerie and menacing, yet hauntingly beautiful and highly evocative. The rugged Moor landscape has long fuelled our imagination, inspiring artists and poets, evoking images both terrifying and deeply romantic. It’s a land of contrasts. Wide open heaths, windswept and barren in winter, are transformed into wonderful carpets of white, fluffy cotton grass in summer. Large bears and wolves roam alongside delicately fluttering butterflies, the bubbling calls of black grouse and the enchanting trills of the great snipe.
Moors, bogs and wetlands can be found all over in Europe. Everyone has at least heard about this habitat but most know little about it. Only 1% of the Middle European wetlands are still untouched. A gigantic amount of carbohydrate is stored inside these wetlands. But knowing about this fact does not stop their destruction. Climate change and global warming are on everyone’s mind - stopping the destruction of moors and wetlands would be one great step towards the reduction of greenhouse gases.
This film shows the beauty and the magic inside the moors and its message is clear :”Save and protect our last moors and wetlands”

Dawn breaks over an eerie landscape. Drenched in early morning dew, the silhouettes of twisted trees keep silent watch. Ghostly shapes move in the mist, and strange haunted cries fill the air. The moors are a wilderness unlike any other. One careless footstep can lead to a grisly end
As night gives way to an early rising sun, the world seems peaceful and serene but deep beneath the thick moss and grass, dark secrets lie buried. Join us on this mystical journey across the Moors of Germany.

Every creature of The Moors is reflected in the music which, from what I have seen, is very rare, but truly a bonus! Thank Y’all for such an informative AND entertaining documentary. Never has something so beautiful made me so sad. 😞 To find out how quickly The Moors are disappearing due to man’s greed truly makes my eyes tear up. I read about them as a young boy, longing to see their eerie, enchanting beauty. But now it seems that another destination that I dreamed of visiting will slip right through my fingertips. ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE! The opening score left me satisfied. Bravo Jörd, and Siggi! If the opening score has a name I NEED IT FOREVER. Does anyone know?

Outstanding film with awesome narration, one would never of thought that such a story could be told about a peat bog. I was kept interested for the entire film which is rather special given it was 1 & 1/2 hours long. When I was about to start it, I didn't honestly think I would see it through but I did all the way to the end. Thank you for what turned out to be an extremely interesting subject. Why does man have to spoil everything that is good on our planet?

This is such a perfect, amazing and out of this world documentary... and it's free? cannot believe it.. how did you shoot thee microorganism under the brown murky water? and the bear reaction to thunder and rain, its encounter wit h the wolf etc.... the shooting, the camera angles, the editing, the perfect capture moments, the narration, the copy, the information, the research etc.... i cannot say enough.. I am just so thankful that there are people like you and your team to show us the part of the world that we would never have been able to go ourselves.... thank you for opening up my eyes to such unseen beauty...
