That scene was remarkably mature. I often pointed to it when I discuss what makes a comic "Mature" and especially when people are talking about the Snyder films.
@@travisbewley7084 it'd be mature to not always find some way to slag Synder when the conversation or topic has nothing to do with him. As annoying as Synderfans can be, the people who absolutely make it a point to slag off him or his movies any chance they can get are just as obnoxious.
@@NineToFiveGamerUC0079 Snyder just happens to be the torch holder for edgyness that thinks it's way more mature then it really is. Befor Snyder it was Miller and Millar. For all the edgyness that Liefeld brought he never passed it off as more then it was. So talks of maturity in comics will naturally involve the biggest train wreck currently and few train wrecks can match the Snyderverse.
strangely enough, this comic from the 90s is very relevant today. in a time when cynicism is confused with wisdom, and optimism is confused with naivety, we need stories like this today
Superman: Magog, what do you have to say for yourself after causing the death of over 1 million people? Magog: ME? Nah fam, that's all your fault Superman. You chose to walk away from crimefighting." Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you gaslighting 101. Lol
Love your narration. It’s perfectly and clearly enunciated. Also, I was expecting a brutal and violent outcome in the storyline such as that in Jupiter's Legacy, and I'm glad that didn't happen. I'm glad its all positive vibes and rationality in this comic, especially admirable are Batman and Shazam. And yeah, the art is really fantastic!
Nice review. Imagine if Kingdom Come was adapted into an animated film, or, more likely, an live action movie. That would be so great. Same goes for Spider-man: Life Story.
Why wouldn't the prison be built fast? They have the flash and all kinds of crazy metahumans as well as crazy alien tech. Seems like that could be done mighty fast.
What an incredible comic! The dystopian heroes were well-written, the story was compelling, and the Spectre was captivating as usual. And the artwork! Alex Ross killed it. One thing, though - Batman takes his steak well-done!? Alfred's cordon bleu, medium-rare steaks have been going to waste all these years! Lol
I just got to see Alex Ross' MARVELOCITY exhibit at my local art museum. Absolutely wonderful to see more appreciation for his contributions to the medium!
Love your work dude, I’m glad you’ve kept on keeping on and didn’t let any setbacks stop you from creating these great videos. Thank you so much for your saga series so far, and I can’t wait to see what you do next.
💯 ! It started with that beautiful background soundtrack used in @Dannymalt's narration of Y The Last Man. Then we hear about a superhero taking out villains for good, which reminded me just how magnificent his Invincible episodes were. Honestly, I don't think a week end's properly for me without @Dannymalt's Sunday Service xxx
That’s why this book is so great. Just like tons of Easter Eggs of all these random DC characters, some just thrown into the background of a fight scene. I looked in the Kingdom Come bonus material where Alex Ross breaks down all the characters on every page, that is supposedly Peacemaker II, the next generation of Peacemaker.
Alex Ross is one of kind. His Justice limited series is probably the purest take on the Justice League. You ought to do a video on that actually. His Marvel stuff is excellent, but I think my favorite work of his is Project Superpowers. Loved the Golden Age heroes portrayed.
Great video! I love your content. I found your channel through your Jupiter's Legacy videos, back when the Netflix show came out. I watched those and some of your videos about other Mark Millar books. I recently have rediscovered your channel via your "The Boys" playlist, and I watched all of those videos. I now have been watching some of your DC Comics coverage. Thank you again for creating these awesome videos, I definitely appreciate it.
Love your channel man! Kingdom Come is a masterpiece and you did a great job with it! Fun factoid.. Damian Wayne is also Ibn al Xu'Ffash...a nice little Easter Egg tossed in at some point for us KC fans. Keep up the great work!
Hi, first of all, I want to say, thank you, thank you, thank you! I have never read this story before, and you did an awesome job and storytelling! The main reason that I have not been able to read the stories because I’m blind so therefore I have no idea about these comics that are out here and the awesome stories that have been written. I used to read comic books when I was a kid when I had eyesight and then, as I got older, I lost my sight! I have not physically read a comic book since 1987! So I hope you continue to do what you do because I will definitely turn other blind people on to this channel so they can hear the great storytelling that you offer! Thank you again. 1:13:33
Lets goooo I remember wanting to go through that but not wanting to read it myself. All the narrations I found on youtube were so overacted and cringe. I love that while you put a little sauce on it you don’t go all out radio production lol
Watching it now excellent choice. Also im a new sub and love your narraration so far just finished your american vampire sereis last night im working on saga next
Is that freakin peacemaker at 15:49 in the left column of tvs at the bottom and third tv from the bottom in a metal suit😂😂never knew he was in here even if just one panel he might he standing beside death stroke in the bottom left
This is the must own absolute, if you were to own one. My favorite DC "elseworld" story. Love your content man, would love for you to do my 2nd favorite "elseworld", Sean Murphy's White Knight. Such a fun read, and would make for a good 3 part series.
Dude I forgot you got hit with that warning from Amazon over the boys comic you did.. literally without you I wouldn't be into the boys the show has alot of let downs after listening to you tell the story.
Great job! But there was 1 mistake. The fight scene with Shazam and Superman. When he kept saying shazam, he wasn't turning back and forth between man and God. If you look closely, you see shazam uses his super speed to move away and dodge the lightning blast. He was just calling this lightning to hit superman since magic hurts him and this lightning is magic. But then the last time he says shazam, superman uses his super speed first to grab shazam and hold him still so that the lightning hits them both and then he finally changes back to Billy. And superman has now taken control of the situation.
There is another masterpiece named MARVELS written by Kurt Busiek and the artist is Alex Ross. Please make a video on it. It is one of the best and different from other superhero story.
Lol...... Shazam wasn't alternating between forms...... He was called down the lightning and getting out of the way of the strike, using d as a weapon against Superman
I've been silently bingeing your videos for the last 2 days. Regarding _Kingdom Come,_ I've heard SO much about this story. I'm not sure what I was expecting, but I was surprised by what I got: a sort of alternate retelling of the _Injustice_ story. The ending was a little... disappointing. 😕 It all just sort of...fizzled out in the end. I thought that Magog would play a much bigger tole than what he ultimately did, considering he was the one who kicked everything off. And the inclusion of The Specter and the random human Norman to the story was honestly baffling. Neither of them played any meaningful role, and if we were to remove them from the story entirely there would be no change. Batman himself was barely involved considering the Joker is one of _his_ villains jumping over to Metropolis. Clark never seemed to blame Batman or even show much of any emotion save for the end battle. I'm also really surprised that Clark never directly mentions Lois Lane here. Were the two of them just not a "thing" in this continuity? And when did the relationship between he and Wonder Woman start, exactly? The story is incredibly vague on this fact. As for the art... Everyone always has such great things to say Alex Ross, but I have never been impressed. His characters (to me) just aren't very attractive. They look like old fashioned illustrations from the 50's that belong on post cards but for a comic they didn't really "pop" for me. There are some GORGEOUS illustration inspired comic art out there, but Alex Ross wasn't it for me. Everything looks so plain and bland. The colors are very pale and washed out. In all it was a very disappointing, dry story that left me wondering what all the hype is about. Even the ending is disappointing. Clark and Diana are a "thing" but apparently don't even live together. Clark lives in his Fortress of Solitude and Diana is back on Themyscira. What will happen when the child is born? I'd imagine if it's a girl she will stay with Diana and the Amazons. If it's a boy it will live with Clark. I dunno, this just seems very depressing. The entire universe here was just very bleak and plain.
I love how there exist several series trying to frame the death of Joker as a bad thing to justify batman leaving him alive, but once again this entire series is batmans fault
Supposedly on March 17, which is like 11 days from now. That’s why I’m covering it. Although it’s bizarre they haven’t even posted a trailer yet and it’s less than 2 weeks away.
It was refreshing to see Magog expressing regret instead of just being a cliché villain.
This story is really great.

This is literally my favorite Superman comic
I think this is the single greatest book ever produced in the genre.
I love how they draw Flash in this.

One of the most epic reads you have done danny you really know the tones needed to get the emotion off the page great job.
One of my all time favorite stories. I absolutely love this version of Superman and the S logo. This is such a badass superman.
It always gets me how wholesome and tear-wrenching Batman being the BatFather of Clark and Diana's.
Danny ya done did it now! This is my all time favorite comic book. Hell it's probably my favorite book ever. Thank you so much.

Amazing storytelling. I'll take this over Injustice all day.
I wouldn’t. I’d take injustice over this anyway
I’d take injustice over this anyday
This is garbage storytelling. Mark Waid is a hack. Injustice is WAY better in every way. The only redeeming quality about kingdom come is Alex Ross.
this book cameout from 1996 and it’s readable and felt like i’m reading 2022 and new
Great video! There is just a small problem, you mistaken Jay Garrick with Wally West.
