If anyone was curious what was the ident at the end of the video, that was the ident of Kolmoskanava (TV3), Finland's first private TV network.
Today I learned life in Finland was comprised almost entirely of winter sports. Nah I kid, good video!
The 80s: an economic boomtime for Finland, who acted as a window to the west for the Baltic states (which were under Soviet occupation), particularly Estonia.
CIA might have tossed in some funding for the Westinghouse built giga-powerful TV transmitter tower in Helsinki region, its just a coincidence that Soviet Union happened to be nearby, really.

KK Market (slightly bigger store)
KKK Supermarket (supermarket, duh)
KKKK Citymarket (hypermarket)
...but they kinda stopped this stuff in the 2000s, for a good reason I guess.

Was this when Finland was still actually neutral?
While still thinking of its own interests and officially being neutral, post-war Finland was more or less Soviet-aligned. The Soviet Union was notorious for using its influence to interfere with and inhibit finnish policies. This became known as _Finlandisation_
Late 80's saw the beginning of laxed political and cultural tension culminating in the dissolution of the Soviet Union and Finland's unrestricted openness towards the West.
@@marttisalmela6532 And that cullminated in Finland joining the European Union in 1995, and the Finnish Defense Forces adopting NATO-standard weaponry (though not joining NATO itself).
