This goes to Mr Scotty Kilmer, first and foremost I want to thank you for such an incredible video that you have put together on the history of Honda and Toyota. I as well believe that they have been the 2 best auto makers in the last 25+ years here in the United States. I follow your channel and I must say that you are a very wise and informative mechanic who's 30 years of automotive knowledge allows me to take all angles in consideration when I'm thinking about purchasing a vehicle. I do have a question for you, I have been considering drifting in a different direction with my next purchase because there seems to be a lot of reviews floating around making the new 2023 Kia Telluride / Hyundai Palisade Calligraphy model a vehicle that is top of the line in all it's aspects. So I was wondering what is your take on these two companies and these two vehicles? I would appreciate any information that it's not being shared or released to the public that will help me decide on either one or to stay away, thanks

I absolutely loved my 1985 5 speed cable clutch accord it ran for me to 450k miles
In which I sold it in 2009
Car was still in showroom condition.
I then bought a 1989 accord with the flip up headlights also 5 speed
That car was a nightmare of issues. The synchronizers in the transmission went out 4 times in two years.
Along with a list of problems that car the engine blew at 260k miles.
Then I went to a 95 accord automatic sedan
That was a nice trouble free car but got stolen at 300k miles and find stripped to the frame.
I then bought a 2001 civic that car was trouble free from 100k miles bought used til the transmission suddenly went out without warning at 132k miles.
And Honda wouldn’t do anything about it even tho it was a huge class action lawsuit for it. But cuz Honda said the warranty was only up to 120 miles I think they knew they mostly blew around my mileage or under…
I’ve had a few newer ones since.
Always get a manual if possible they’re automatic are not so good.with Hondas
I’ve owned or now own or in my family 2010 Prius 2007 rav4 and 08 Yaris
None have had any transmission issues and all automatic and my 2010 matrix lived til 350k miles the torque converter went out cost more then the car

    The 2009 civic automatic
We’re not so great with their transmissions. They shudder and randomly slip
And many have reported hearing what sounds like a marble being bounced around inside the transmission. It was found to be a spacer ball bearing
It’s made of plastic with tiny beads half in and out around edges. Eventually plastic disintegrated and bearings got loose

But as for boxy cars give me late 80s/early 90s Fox Body Mustang & others including ‘88 Nissan Sentra 1.6L4speed stick, drove that rascal all over Texas consulting utilities. Back then Honda & Nissan we’re neck and neck in quality but now Toyota & Honda rule

Scotty didn't the 2000 Camry LE or XLE come with a V6 engine? I'm pretty sure it did. I know a person that has a 2000 Camry Solera. Which is just a luxury virgin of the Camry. I have the 4 cylinder engine of the 2000 Camry LE model. I'm restoring and customizing the Camry. I don't care what people think or say it's my Camry. I do what makes me happy.

HI Scotty, i wasnt sure what video to put this question on but i got a scan code on my 2002 chevy cavalier that read U1096 and U1000. Does this mean its just something on my instrumental panel or maybe a problem with PCM/ECU module? Or maybe because a mouse even chewed a wire? Car left me stranded a couple times in warm and below freezing temperatures. But i wouldnt even know where to start looking at all the wires. Do you have any thoughts on this code? Thank you.

I love the RAV's with the tire on the back. Here in BFLO NY ppl are holding on to that or those yrs. That the tire is visible. I have loved the Highlander since my eyes laid on them. That beautiful red at the white. I don't know if they come in white but love that color. And the red metallic is ssssss 🔥🔥🔥 HOT.😮😮, AND I DON'T KNOW IF THEY COME IN GOLD EITHER. THE SIENNA'S COME IN GOLD AND WHITE, THAT I KNOW. THE NEW HONDA'S I'M LIKING A LOT. WHAT I'D LIKE TO HAVE IS THE TERRAINS AND THE ONE THAT LOOKS LIKE IT BUT THEY ARE GM'S. I HEARD YOU SAY WHATEVER DON'T GET THOSE 2. BUT THEY ARE SOOOO PRETTY. I LIKE THE DASHES IN THEM, THE ROOM IN THEM. I JUST LOVE EM. IT'S LIKE YOU KNOW HE IS BAD FOR YOU BUT YOU GET WITH HIM ANYWAYS BC HE'S JUST SO SAUVE YOU DO IT AND HOOK UP WITH HIM TILL HE BEATS YOU SO BADLY. THEN YOU HAVE TO GET THE COPS TO GET HIM OUT YOUR APARTMENT OR YOUR HOUSE. 🤣🤣🤣🤣😜😜.

Still have my 2009 Honda Accord and have a relatively low 110,000 miles despite it’s age. The ONLY issue I’ve ever had is with the (VCM) variable cylinder tech that switches between 4 or 6 cylinders and sometimes it throws spark plug codes - wish it just used all 6 cylinders no matter what even if lowered my overall mpg
