Manhunt 2 gameplay became almost broken when they censored the game as it were designed for motion controls on Wii.
I remember when they did that to manhunt 2 and it ruined the game. They should bring that back the way it originally was. It would be huge now and only slapped with a rating

@@V3ntilator no they soft censored it in the US to. They had a blood spatter hit the screen that covers all the violence during kill scenes along with other graphics that made it impossible to see what was going on.

I guess they did it like this, so modders could remove the censorship to play it like it were intended.

In all honesty I feel like if people compare you to a happy-go-lucky character like winnie you should own it, would give you brownie point to some extent. But I guess not all of us can take a joke.
Fun Fact: Thanks to China's policy on superstitions, in the game Bloons Tower Defense 6, one of the heroes named Sauda who usually has a Jiangshi skin (a Chinese hopping vampire) was replaced with a cat suit in the Chinese version. (I find that odd as Sauda is a monkey, wearing a cat suit?)

1st game I ever bought, Duke 3D, was censored here in Australia. You blew an enemy up with the rpg, you heard the squelch, but they just disappeared, no gibs. Also the chicks trapped in the alien cocoons were invisible. So were the strippers, but you could still give them money and tell them to "shake it baby".
The EXE from the uncensored version went around school pretty quickly xD

In case anyone is interested, the Chinese steam review says "Game is good, but there no reason for this act of sleight (refers to the easter egg). Doesn't Taiwan need a reason to stay alive? Just wait for our military takeover".

Postal 2 and manhunt 2 the games criticized by most of the countries especially manhunt 1 and 2 due to extreme violence and brutality
you could in any of those open the game iso and find a "settings.ini" text file you could edit in NOTE PAD as in not encrpted that if you changed a 0 to a 1 then clicked save in wrodpad/notepad the censorship filter was removed. Rockstar made it easy to circumvent in an act of defiant rebellion and people still got to enjoy their games uncencored in the end, so all they really did was waste a lot of time and money to achieve nothing. Smart players just disabled the shit and moved on with their lives happy. Infact on wii version and psp it even encouraged pl to hack their consoles and download pirated versions. So it wasnt like this helped anything for the company or publishers if anything it hurt them in the end.
For years, gaming has always been corrupted by entities who are sensitive to literally everything about every game you've played. As an PS/Xbox/Switch/Mobile gamer, a lot of the games I played are extremely violent, and are probably banned in Germany or China. Hypocrisy is such a sad little creature...
Yeah but people gotta have an opinion about everything, even for a medium they aren't part of. It's like how it is always white people getting offended on the behalf of black people whenever something is deemed racist, or how people complained that Speedy Gonzales was a racist mexican charicature but the actual Mexicans loved him.

People died playing Pokemon Go because they were either going to places like outside the railings on bridges and falling off, or walking off cliffs and bridges while not looking up to see where they were going.
And of course, walking into traffic cuz they were glued to the tracker function.

"Shadow the Hedgehog" was a good game and it didn't bother me that Shadow said "Damn", at least they kept that in and changed the Black Arms' aliens' blood to green.

Mortal Kombat was not completly banned in Germany. I remember playing one game, on the Super Nintendo, where they replaced all the blood with sweat (not sure if thats better), but there was one of those codes where you can unlock the blood version. It is so minor it didn't really make a difference.
I had this game store where they sold me all the games that were banned/censored "unter dem Ladentisch." That store turned into a GameStop, and they still did it
@@JDoe11 It's cool when stores do you personal favors like that. I had a rather strict GameStop who wouldn't sell me Resident Evil 4 or F.E.A.R.2 until I came of age. I was 17, the games were 18+.
So actually the Metal Gear Solid "tickling" censorship in Japan actually had a kinda cool lore reason for doing it. Solid Snake would be trained to resist pain, but not something like tickling. As dumb as this sounds, unconventional ways of torture have been used all around the world a lot more often than you'd think throughout history. Water torture? Sleep deprivation? Annoying sounds blasting in your ears? Cold and heat? Tickling is not far off from these. Still it was done for censorship to remain legal. Plain and simple. But at least they added an plausible spin to it.
Also, if I understand correctly, *all* of Fallout's drugs had real life names that were changed to prevent censorship in certain countries. Mentats were amphetamine, jet was PCP, Psycho was coke ect.

That's the real idea for the Human Shape Pokémon, and as a side note, Jynx is Ice/Psychic. That makes Steel, Bug, Ghost, Dark, Rock, and Fire super-effective against it.

Here's another thing that was modified overseas in a Mario title.
In Mario Party 2, Western land has the players as deputies and Bowser as an outlaw: Bowser the Brash. In the duel mini-games, which work as a quick-draw, and the ending scene where the board winner beats Bowser in a quick draw. It was originally guns even though no bullets were shown. Overseas it was modified to popguns.

Another instance of German Censoring were the earlier Command & Conquer Games.
The Humans were exchanged with Robots or Cyborgs who bled black oil and made a metallic squishing sound when you ran them over with a tank (like crumbeling a can).
C&C Generals was a special case: It was sold for a short time uncensored, but banned for "glorifying war".
It was re-released after the "Robot Treatment"

Duke 3d was also censored/banned.
In the censored version blood and Strippers were removed. You could still tip the air...
When I was a kid (all the way to my 14), I played games like GTA 3, GTA Vice City, Duke Nukem 3D and Wolfenstein Return to Castle and Enemy Territory
There are lots of people who hate on Shadow the Hedgehog for him being "too edgy" and for the game not being a traditional Sonic game, and it's one of the first Sonic games to be rated a PEGI 12 in Europe and the UK. But I would've loved it more if it hadn't been censored as much as it is. Just my opinion.
As in, in the TV shows and as hinted in previous video games, Shadow had a tragic backstory. And the cussing and extra violence would have helped us players see a bit further into his head, and it would be been more accurate in displaying his (spoiler alert) confusion and grief regarding his lost memories and his late wife.

The MOTHER series has had some interesting examples of censorship.
MOTHER 1: Religious references and blood was altered for obvious reasons.
MOTHER 2: Same thing. But had some dialogue changes and some interesting sprite changes. Most notably the red crosses on hospitals were removed, the doll and octopus statues were changed into pencil and eraser statues, the title was changed to EarthBound since it released in the USA before MOTHER 1, and Ness is wearing pajamas in Magicant.
MOTHER 3: Never got a USA release. It has a fan translation though.
There’s probably some more, but these are some that I remember.

I still have the first release in my posession where 3 generals fight theyr troops.
It was later censored and the generals where replaced with robots.
Problem was that any update or addon pack did not work with this original one.

About the Pokemon Go controversy you talked about, there ARE warnings (in the UK version, anyway) that lol up every time you open the app, telling you not to trespass into unauthorised areas or dangerous locations, to keep AWARE of your surroundings whenever you play, not to play the game while driving, and when using the AR mode, to keep a closer eye on your kids than on your phone.
I don't know if this is in any releases besides the UK version, but that's what we have.

There was a case in Malaysia where the ENTIRE Steam platform was banned because it promoted a single game called Fight of Gods, which, as the name implies, you have religious figures as playable fighters.
That was a straight up overreaction.
Gambling can be a huge issue, it often destroys lifes and that of others near them. I think its fair that gambling for kids is being censored.
But what if your trying to save the Typhlosion before a oncoming train runs it over and possibly gives PTSD to the train operator?

There is still a kind of 'gambling' in a later Poke'mon game. In Mystery Dungeon, you can build a 'prize palace' that lets you buy scratch tickets and 'random' tickets.

Carmageddon was an amazing game, I remember when it game out. There were patches available online to put the humans back into the game and they released the "Splat Pack" 5 months after the game came out
Postal 2 DESERVED to be banned.
I find the concept of the game quite funny, although I've never played it before. What these sorts of games needs is a warning for everyone to read as the game boots up that the game contains offensive content and is not supposed to be played by kids. same with Carmageddon. That would've saved the games from some controversy and hate I think.
“Mario Rampage” was an online flash game that got banned because it had Mario running around shooting enemies with a shotgun. And yes: goombas exploded and every enemy let loose a spray of blood when shot

In the original C&C, a player could run over troupes in a tank with a "splat" sound. In the German version, however, the sound was a "crunch" because the "troupes" were robots.
