Some of the modern hip churches do abbreviated version that leave our or harshly modify the third verse. The significance of Myrrh being given to the child is better understood when you know that in that time Myrrh was pretty much only used at funerals to cover the smell of the deceased. So to give myrrh at a birth would be considered odd and part of the foreshadowing of the story. A lot of them are there for chorister scholarships, either for school or university. It’s an education worth tens of thousands, plus an excellent music education on top. Some are probably Christians, but not all

My late dad attended King's College and I visited the chapel a few times with him back in the day. In the background you can see Rubens' "Adoration of the Magi". A very fitting scenery for this carol.
Sure it is. Richard Marriott can go to St Pauls or Westminster or Kings College Cathedral and enjoy a magical Christmas eve service. A bit of rain is atmospheric. I hope your plans come true soon Richard
But the beauty you're admiring is the interior of a chapel. A church is a building located within a parish, which is a geo-ecclesiastic territory within a geo-ecclesiastic territory of a diocese administered by a bishop from his chair in the dioceses' cathedral. For each parish within his diocese the bishop appoints a priest to administer the sacraments inside the parish church or its graveyard (and other places under certain circumstances or by permission of the Bishop). A chapel is an ecclesiastic edifice built at the discretion of someone or something other than the Bishop responsible for the diocese in which it is located. It is commonly built for the convenience of those living, working or studying nearby the chapel. The priest(s) serving the chapel do so under the authority of the bishop. A chapel is simply (but not always) a church without a parish and serving some Christians on the basis of convenience of location.

Thanks for posting this video. A seriously favorite song, I sang the third part way back when, and left no eye unmoistened, as the preceding parts had already been sung so movingly, as they were here. THREE KINGS OF ORIENT.
1. We Three Kings of Orient are,
Bearing gifts we traverse afar,
Field and fountain,

Following yonder Star.
CHORUS.
O Star of Wonder, Star of Night,
Star with Royal Beauty bright,
Westward leading,

All men raising,
Worship Him Gᴏᴅ on High.

4. Mʏʀʀʜ is mine; its bitter perfume
Breathes a life of gathering gloom;-
Sorrowing, sighing,
Bleeding, dying,
Sealed in the stone-cold tomb.
