Gary Winters He's like WGN TV Weatherman Tom Skilling. Both make the weather look interesting and you actually learn from them. That's why I always prefer Tom Skilling because of not only how accurate his weather reports are but he makes it interesting that I want to learn more about the weather.

Actually it's pretty frightening when driving through a bad snowstorm. Had it happen to me while on my way home on the highway. It freaked everyone on the road out because no one was expecting a lighting flash accompanied by a loud thunder crack in the middle of winter. I thought something exploded. Could have easily caused a bad car accident that would have been compounded by shitty roads but luckily everyone on the highway hit breaks at the same time avoiding a bad situation.

@@TheMissingLink2 That's entirely understandable. Extreme weather patterns are never without their dangers and hazards. But it is a fascinating event due to it's odd and rare nature. I do wish everyone safety in harsh weather.

I’m from Canada, I’m 37… and I’ve never seen lightning or heard thunder during a snow storm.
16” is a normal thing here! We get that in an hour or two during blizzards. My neighbour went into labour during a winter storm, 2 years ago and had to be dug out and brought to the hospital on a snow mobile. Her water broke, opened the front door and there was a wall of snow with an imprint from her door pattern in a flat wall of snow. The drifts slammed her house and she had 15’ of snow piled up against it.

@@injusticeanywherethreatens265 Awesome! I lived in Michigan, Ohio and Pennsylvania for a number of years. I remember one time I was driving home from college on the highway in very heavy snow storm. Near white out conditions in the late afternoon. It was around sunset but still plenty of light to see. As I was coming around the ramp, I heard the loudest crack of thunder I ever heard and lightning streaked across the sky lighting everything up like it was one of those white back drops you see in commercials. Everything was just straight white. Thought there was an explosion or something. Scared the hell out of me and everyone else on the highway because everyone immediately slammed on their breaks. Haha. That was the first time I've experienced it driving. I had seen it rarely before while at home and a few times after. Still a rare phenomenon to catch happening but it's cool to see when you do. Thanks for jogging my memory. That happened 10 years ago or so. Always get a kick out of recalling that one.

I went to Connecticut for a wedding during a blizzard that affected the entire east coast. I was standing by the window of my hotel room watching the storm outside when I heard the "thunderstorm". It was the only time in my life I experienced it and I must say I was stunned. I had no idea that it could even happen....then I remembered a dream I had about a bedraggled white kitten in God's lap. I woke up from that and I kept wanting to say that God had thunder thighs. My daughter, who came with me but didn't attend the wedding, had a dream about a white cat the same night as my cat dream. Her cat was running about, doing flips and just enjoying itself. Well, she went to a basket ball game, got interviewed by reporters and generally had a great time. My kitten was bedraggled cause I had a bad toothache. There was only one other time that my daughter and I had the same sort of dream on the same night. It makes you wonder, yes?
