With a wingspan of around 11 feet, the albatross relies on strong wind to get their giant bodies in the air. What intrigues you the most about these massive birds?
The albatross divine wings and their loyalty and trust on their partners for life. Their commitment to each other its something that human relationships might not even have
Are you 11 feet tall?
Biggest Flying Bird
National Geographic how loyal they are....
I think he meant that the Albatross is the biggest bird on the planet capable of flight, the Ostrich is the biggest bird on the planet whether it be on land, sea or air.
He is clearly enjoying his job with the way he smiles and delivers. His job is just amazing seeing all these sorts of animal culture. I wish I could have a job like that.
same it's my childhood dream then as I grow I realised it's impossible for me to have my dream job
We belongs from middle class family so we have to sacrifice our dreams due to lack of finance
You can, just treat your current job like you love it and you will
You can! It takes some time, but you can
This job is really great, but there is also a lot of challenges like watching animals getting killed or eaten by their predators but the people can't help them since they will mess up the cycle of life and will cause chaos.
My only problem is the video is too short. I want to see more of these.
The video is not too short, there is just an awful ammount of air time featuring humans.
We're glad you want to see more, Steven. Be sure to check out more Wild_Life: Resurrection Island episodes on our channel!
@@NatGeo We want longer videos, please? That's what he's asking. Not more videos just longer ones so we can enjoy it.
Steven Carreon I actually like that its short, but I need more episodes. The dude and the animals (and the editing) are hella entertaining
The bird is a paid actor
I hope no one hunts albatross cuz they literally have a family to comeback to and a lifetime partner!
Spoilers!
So do many other animals we eat every day
@@mattygee1402 No not really. Only certain animals mate for life. Most just mate with whatever they could grab.
@@hrpang Sounds like me on a night out tbh
@@mattygee1402 Most animals we eat are polygamous. As such they consist of rapists, murders, and hypergamous whores. They can die for all I care. But monogamous species like these, they deserve to live.
He’s like the real life Newt Scemander
Yessssssssssssss
Had a same thought!
This
more! likes!!!
Exactly
I like the way the host smiles. He's like a kid enjoying the wonders of nature. Keep it up I am enjoying watching you...😁😁😁😁
Who doesn't
CT q
Well Said
Cute
He's on an expedition somewhere on the edge of the world watching the biggest flying creature alive.
The sheer privilege of sailing there would make me smile all day, let alone watching and documenting the birds...
The screaming made me think of dinosaurs.
They are modern dinosaurs.
They are dinosaurs
Not only are they dinosaurs, I'm sure their calls have been sampled for Jurassic Park sound effects at least once.
Almost sounds like horses to me😂
A realistic aproach to a dinosaur scream would be the screams of large birds but x100
these birds live upto 60 yrs ....Wow..
I know one that lives 90+ yrs
Yes, such long life they have
Their relationships last longer than "human marriages" 😂😂😂
Roasted hwheheheheh
He ain't wrong.
Facts
Excellent video. People should understand the need to allow other species to live.
Yes, and that includes ALL animals.
Fish, cows, pigs, chickens and so on.
The baby on ur picture is so cute
@@dragonfairy22 i love meat
@@dragonfairy22 yessssss
Yep, humans are very territorial, don’t wanna allow even a squirrel in their yard.
I didn't realise the wandering albatross is so fascinating! I was so shocked and sad to see them being trapped by the fish hooks - and also remembering that they might have a life-long mate waiting for them and wondering when they will be back.
I also had the same thought ❤️
I love this man's enthusiasm. With the exuberance of a child discovering something completely new and amazing for the very first time and still with So Much respect for these animals. He reminds me so much of Steve Irwin's excitement and passion. Bertie Gregory, your Amazing! ♥
My sentiments exactly, his excitement and passion so reminds me of Steve
Bertie is so genuinely charming. The amazement and joy of this job and the pictures are stunning. Thank you for this little webseries. It’s beautifully done and so informative.
Muito lindo 😍😍😍
"everything here is huge, the birds are huge, the oceans is huge, the mountain are huge.....the wind is huge, that makes filming difficult", and then still laugh after 😁😁😁😁 amazing guy
I am a Retired Mariner; used to do Pacific route on general cargo ships 1965- 1974 We used to see these birds always Some times rest on out Mast heads high up Most inspiring sight of size and Flying over the vast expanse of the Pacific on days end on and gliding often just above surface Beautiful

"Guys hold up"
*Scratches self*
"Ok, I'm really"
That what I call relationship goals
The way Bertie smiles is so cute. He enjoying every moment of it. 😅
The Albatross my absolute favourite. Just so exquisite, beautiful and devoted. This biologist is so passionate it is catching. I just adore watching people who have found their passion. Thank You, my Soul is Smiling. 🕊👏💗🇦🇺
I could go on all day watching them take off, soar, and land. But I think let's just leave them alone, and let nature's course take over completely on the island. Hope they will continue to thrive! Thanks for sharing National Geographic.
@Almighty God George Soros #420 #GetRekd ref ok a.
I agree with you 100%
"That is the biggest bird on the planet"
the excitement in his voice
An Albatross was seen in the Faroe Islands for the first time since 1860 4 weeks ago.
That one from 1860 joined the gannets that nest here, and followed them for 34 years.
We are really excited to see if this one is going to do the same. He is already flying amongst the gannets.
0:56 i guess T-posing works even on the world's largest birds.
*flying
Think of you being an albatross, leaving to get some food for your wife and children and never being able to come back and give them a warm hug and say goodbye.
“They’re kinda on a first date.” So you’re being a third wheel.
😂😂
I love his excitement and joy, he loves nature, is amazed by it and shares it unreservedly. Big Lifer.
Father to his family: just hold on lads. Imma go to Brazil to get some snacc..
I love this series, it's perfectly filmed and it keeps you thriving for the next episode
Love his energy, positive with some humor! I love other nature videos but they are usually serious
This dude seriously gives off some Newt Scamander vibes and I love it
Watching giant birds spread out their wings and commit a loud ritual to the skies has been the highlight of my day.
Thanks NatGeo and Bertie for filming this, what a pleasure to see this side of the albatross and that beautiful island.
I love everything about this video - my partner calls me his albatross and made me poems inspired by this beautiful bird. I am more in love with albatrosses and my albatross every day.
Have you watched erkenci kus?
I just love long-lived animals so much. Their lives must be so fun.
Incredible feature. Also we get mesage of not being rude to the nature. Albatross is the birds of the heaven.
The video title was initially unappealing but I clicked anyway and now I'm surprisingly fascinated!
We're glad you enjoyed watching! The albatross are truly fascinating creatures.
This was amazing, as was the host. I just wish they would have included the prpgress of egg protection, hatching, and the raising of baby albatross. Beautiful creatures.
The first time I learned about the albatross was when I was a kid probably 10 years old or younger. It was a song by Iron Maiden called Rime of the Ancient Mariner, that song was based off a poem written by Samuel Taylor Coleridge of the same name that introduced me to the amazing birds. It was because of that song and poem that I learned great respect for the albatross.
national geographic global media truthfully deserve AWARD in their SINCERE QUEST of sharing non-travellers the other living beings... the quest of sharing the vastness of the universe...
“A relationship that lasts li ger than human marriages” Lol! That accurately described modern marriages.
One the greatest of or probably , most faithful, committed birds on earth they are my favorite....they are more loyal and committed to their mate more than humanity to their own people..... it's a shame though.... that humanity are making birds more faithful them.
I love albatrosses, they are bound with loyal relationships 💖💖
Everything about this bird is extraordinary and extreme and has been a legend for thousands of years
He explains with smile face...love that...awesome video Mr 😊
THANK YOU so much, NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC . Big Fan ❤
i severely underestimated the size of these bird wth
They are so amazing! I love the unique way they fold those giant wings.
Really a huge respect to the bird albatross 🙏🙏
Beautiful bird
Thanks!
Is it not wonderful, though!
Beautiful life. Nature is magical with all of its creation.🌺
Prince Albatross the Seawing/Icewing hybrid from Wings Of Fire joined & entered the chat.
This albatross tapping their beal gives me ASMR tingles!
I loved living there from 1970 thru the end of 1973. My dad stationed there. He. A naval officer. I went to george cannon school starting at 4th grade. The very 1st morning there I was amazed all the fairy terns and albatross the loud. Noise they make courting in large groups. I wished I under stand about the war. I remember the rusty wreckage of fighter planes scattered along the shoreline at the end of the airstrip my dad calls it rusty bucket. Please anyone correspond with me. Jaci
Jack West hey jack I’d love to hear more
Gorgeous birds. We must protect the Albatrosses.
Oh-I forgot to mention that the Monterey Aquarium has a Laysan Albatross that cannot fly. She is sensitive so doesn't like a lot of visitors bugging her. But on a calm day, she will come out so people can admire her. I believe she is named after Pele, the fire goddess' younger sister, Hi'iaka.
Watching the albatross pair scratch the other’s head looked super lovely
Just WOW! To have seen these birds with my own eyes is worth a lifetime. The photography...and so much the sound, is truly inspiring!
His love of his job was so fun to see! Wow.
This might be my favorite bird
Early bird brought me heree

Me too🥰
This makes me want to be a biologist honestly. Just look at them, they are huge and look so pretty.
Well now I learned that humans destroyed a lot of lovely families
I enjoy watching him :) He’s full of positive energy and i’m here for that.
This dude low-key knows his timing. Kudos to you, brother! 👏🏻
This filmmaker brings me joy & makes me love life again.
Globetrotting, flying through the air for weeks with little effort, happy, affectionate, lifelong marriages...yeah, I'm thinking of coming back as an albatross when I die.
I just can't stop crying every episode with how mesmerising this is. Now I will fight even harder to become a Wildlife Filmmaker and help make such beautiful imagery as National Geo. RESPECT!
That dynamic soaring ability really baffles me. These things can go around the world without rest. What the effffffffffff.
the sound of the birds is so amazing.
Thank you for showing this and spurring us to care and do something.
That they stay with their hubbies for life, now that’s a real quality
I want to find someone who is as excited about being with me as Bertie Gregory is around albatrosses. Great job, as always, NG! I smiled during the whole video! :o)
BEAUTIFUL ❤ My heart goes to their Mate if the other does not return 😢
albatri are my favourite birds they are so nice
also its amazing to see the seals come so much up the hill. but I suppose they are on the island bcusve no land predators so they know they are safe
Can't stop myself watching more and more.
This guy is going to be the next David Attenborough-look at his smile while talking about animals. 🥰
“...and they’re called fur seals.”
AURRRAAAUA
These amazing birds were recently renamed as the Snowy Albatross, forming part of the wandering albatross "species complex" including the Antipodean albatross, Tristan albatross and Gibson's Albatross. Even so, I love them all, and consider them my favourite flying birds. Incredible to think that some of the Snowys circumnavigate the Southern Ocean three times in just 12 months!
His smile is so cute...
Such a pleasure to watch this documentary. Magnificent birds! Love it
Thank you 🙏🏼
Really it is wonderful. We must thank to our God for His wonderful creations.
Why tf can't you just appreciate animals as what they are an accept they exist for their own sake instead of always insinuating they were made by some outerworldly huan-like entity?
Watching this with my 8 year old son..we love it
Just love albatross, please keep them safe , thank u 🙏🏾 for this amazing video 🙏🏾
Albatross is my favourite bird, hope I will also find someone like albatross.
Thank you so much for this video series! I wish it were longer!
Wow. Just wow. This video was amazing. These are such amazing creatures.
I love National Geographic.
They always make amazing animals and nature videos which I love.
This is such an interesting and amazing series! Thank you National Geographic! Such amazing documentary should have gained more views to serve the purpose of educating the public and create awareness.
