I started watching your videos after buying my first Audi (2017 allroad fully loaded) I drove American V8 SUV's for too many years and wanted to go back to a euro sedan or wagon that was fun to drive like my first car back in the early '80's (Peugeot 504, talk about under steer). I still have 3 years of warranty so I'm afraid to modify the allroad and no one has developed a tune for the B9 2.0 yet. With the cash that I spent on the allroad I now wish that I got the S4 or an earlier RS4. The allroad is a great daily driver but no where near the power of a tuned S4. I'm hoping that after my warranty runs out I'll be able to stage 1 tune the 2.0 and get it up to 300 bhp. Until then I'll live vicariously through your video's and watch you customize your S4, keep them coming.

I just bought a 2015 Audi s4. I can afford the s6 with no problems, but from the research I did a to high percentage of cars had turbo failure issues. The cost of an after market warranty on a 2015 s6 boggeled my mind love the S4, but coming from a 1999 e55 the S4 just feels a little cramped. I will get used to it. Love your videos

I really like the S4 because of its size and agile personality, but, I have found that at least in my opinion, I prefer the S6 because it has the V8 and a bit of a more upscale look, not to mention the loads of driver assistance features (I drive on the highway a decent amount so I really loved the S6 with the driver assistance package). Coming from a VW Passat right now which I really enjoy how practical it is because I also drive friends around a lot and in my part of the country, people only care about how fast it can go from 0-60 or do the 1/4 mile. Still love your car and who knows, maybe I’ll end up in a Monsoon Gray Metallic S4 Prestige with the driver assistance package! Every time I watch a video on your car though 😍, really makes me question which car I prefer 😂.

I bought my s4 about 6 months after you got your car. I was shopping around for almost a year and finally found a 2014 prestige model in Sepang Blue with a 6 speed manual and the sport differential. It had 48k miles and I paid $30k. I couldn't be any happier with my decision!

I Drive a 2016 mk7 GTI performance pack 6spd, while an excellent car for what it is I'm looking for something awd for better snow/rain performance here in West Michigan(I already have Michelin snow tires). I've been circling all the usual suspects but keep coming back to the b8.5 S4, but a little worried its getting dated for me to keep for 4-5 yrs. I'd rather not spend over $40k and b9's are averaging $50+ used. I'm thinking lower mileage CPO 15 or 16 s4 dsg w tech, sport diff ect., and then doing springs, sways, 034 inserts, awe touring or x pipe res deletes, pulley & stage 2 tune (I can and like to do all my own work)..
Recently drove a 18 WRX(awful in stock form), 18 Golf R(Great but still no sunroof!), 18 S3 (really quick but small and no where to put anything), and mildly curious to test a Stinger GT, overall kind of sick of turbo 4's in general. Basically looking for a great daily that has mod potential and can also carry bikes.
Now that you've driven the b9 s4 would you still start with the b8.5 all over again?
After mods is there no comparison in this price point? .. thanks for any input

So here's my feedback/background. I owned a Sprint Blue Ti Package RS4 for a year and a half or so. This past March I sold it and got into a 6MT B8 S4. Why did I sell it? Miles were getting up there, there was a laundry list of things that needed to be done, and I was starting to put more miles on due to a change in jobs. The B8/.5 S4's are tremendous DD's. Mine is currently APR Stage 2 (3.1 pulley ratio). The car moves but... I'm still not blown away with the car's "soul". Granted I still have the stock exhaust. The e9x (particularly 92 or 90) has always been on my "short list" of cars to own. Sure they are not the fastest thing on the roads but revving that thing out to 8200k surely has to be a joy. Not to mention the handling and balance that you just don't get from an Audi sedan (I'm currently on stock suspension as well). Depending on where I'm at next spring/summer I will be attempting to make the leap over to the dark side (M). To me there is just something to be said about a high revving N/A manual V8 in a small coupe (e92) or a 4 door sedan (e90). The resale on the last naturally aspirated M3 is leagues above Audi's mid-tier S4. Every car you mentioned in your video is a tremendous car, however e9x takes it for me.

I'm in a very similar situation to yours about a year or so ago. I just sold my sti with intentions of picking up a b8.5 s4. So many people have told me to save my money for a year or two and buy something newer and nicer. I can't justify spending over 40k for a car and keeping it stock...I could just never do it. Plus the s4 seems to be a great platform and is comfortably in my price range. Funny thing is the people telling me to save my money are the ones that either have or want an s6, e92 m3 or cts-v.

I say this being an owner of a B8.5 S4 for the second time now: I would have saved for the S6. The S6 you are talking about a twin turbo V8 pushing 425hp which is basically the equivalent to a stage 2 S4. Once you start modding the S6, you would be up around 550-600 pretty quick. Far past the stuff you could do with the S4. That's just me personally. I still love my S4 and can't wait for my AWE track exhaust to get here :)

Ive had zero issues pulling on a c63. Especially from a dig. I've rented one as well (well it was a free upgrade). The car had low miles and everything in it rattled horridly. It felt super cheap and gave me nothing in comparison of feeling to my S4.

    • @offroaddiaries
      @offroaddiaries 6 лет назад

George Lappat not in denial about the power. I've owned tons of AMGs. Tons of very fast cars. I'm a master Mechanic and have built more than my fair share of 10 second or less cars. My knowledge is vast when it comes to racing as I've grown up drag racing with my dad. With all that said, I'm actually not naive. My S4 (used) is far less than the c63. With less than 3k I'm very close to the same power as the c63. Why drop 70k + on a car with a rattling interior and no traction. Fun, yes, but worth it, no. Walking the c63 off the line, easily. A 20 roll. Evenish. Bottom line is, why waste so much money on a car that shows no better results.

From my own experience The S6 is a far better car. I swapped my 2013 s4 for a 2014 S6 recently. I never fell in love with the S4 so never did anything with it, having owned a 2007 RS4 and 2012 RS3 previously I found the S4 tame and dampened down. It was a lovely car but I couldn’t love it no matter how much I wanted to.
However The second I got into the S6 I knew things were right. It’s everything from all the 3 previous Audi’s I owned rolled into 1. I’m now picking up a Milltek non- res and getting a stage 1 remap next week. I do love this car and would recommend 1 to anyone who was thinking about it.

WOODAY3. I’ve not had this S6 long so only done limited motorway miles but that said in comfort or economy 30mpg is easily achievable at around 70mph. But if you have a heavy foot that soon drops. Around town it seems to average about 15mpg.

Went threw the same experience as you. As a owner of a C7 s6 with a tune and exhaust. This thing is a monster. The torque is insane compared to the s4 truly a better vehicle threw it all. The s4 is amazing though. Fully built with the right intake and exhaust it can sound so mean with the supercharger. The money difference is there for sure. I payed 28k for 62k miles pretty good deal actually. But I could have got a s4 same price with 25k less miles. Happy with the s6 though for sure

2:50 Any kind of logical reasons you have to back up your statement on that? Its funny seeing how diplomatic you were when you did that collab video with Tedward and in this video, you're implying your car is in a whole different league to that M3

the m3 sucks compared to a tuned s4/s5. and the m3 looks like shit and mundane. Glad you like your m3, but hell no for me, (even the m4, I hated that car).

Yes, I did :) i compared the 2 when I was on the market and now, 3 years later, still not regretting my decision. I love my s5. I last tried the m4 and 335i. just to see if the 6cyl turbo would do it for me, and did not, it couldn't even put the power down correctly. I'm glad though that you still enjoy your m3/m4 :)
