David Lynch Foundation is doing an amazing job around the world with helping populations in need to learn this lifelong giving tool. For those who want to learn it for themselves - whatever the reason for it (high performance, self realization, stress relief, health benefits etc.) it is one of the best investments you can make for yourself if you go and learn the technique from a certified TM teacher.

    The huge fee for the mantra is just a money maker. Keeps them in business, but for many people it stops them from doing Meditation.

      About paying somebody, you need not to pay anybody for mantra. You can search online for them . Its the sanskrit pronunciation that you should pay for. Proper pronunciation of mantras are hard.

    My biggest gripe about accessing Transcendental Meditation (at least in my area) is that they have these mini-seminars. And they invite you in and get you interested .... then the TM coach wants a $1K investment to show you the rest. This obviously cuts out a certain population that cannot afford it.

    I study Qigong with a true Qigong master. Qigong teaches a person how to meditate. These meditations include inner meditations and moving meditations (similar to Tai Chi). You are right, most people only think about exercising the body, some exercise the mind, but very few people think about exercising the spirit. When you perform Qigong you are exercising the mind, body, and spirit.

It is not easy to learn how to do it on your own, it takes focus and persistence, so I recommend getting a teacher for some time, but when you practice it often - for me, it's ten minutes a day- it is energizing, calming, cleansing, and can be more restoring than sleep.

    I just happen to have my first clsss the day this aired. My TM center was very busy due to the publicity. I really had a great experience with it in my first class, three to go. However I tried to meditate this morning and I just couldn’t get to the peaceful, grounded place I was during my first personal instruction. My son was making a lot of noise which was distracting. Kind of disappointing, but again I’m new and I’m sure it takes practice.

    I’m my experience TM works up to a point. It is a good tool for stress and anxiety but it’s not magic. If you have to do other things to feel better such as exercising, staying sober, getting busy and so on you’d still have to do those things. In other words, TM is not a “miracle cure” so to speak as some believe it is. Plus keep in mind you have dedicate 25 mins or so twice a day “forever” in order for this technique to supposedly work properly. Not to mention almost $1,000 for the initial course. Again, I can only speak for my myself. In conclusion, the technique seems to promote calmness and so on but it’s not as amazingly purportedly to work. It’s not magic, it’s another tool in the box to use if desired.

    TM is basically mantra japa dhayana...and it's available to all..they shouldn't be charged.for it...plus although Hinduism was never a religion...it is important for one seeking spiritual path to learn about the 8 limbs like prtyahara asana etc and learn the Hindu philosophy to truly change the world and at least themselves in a meaningful way

    Tm cost is based on income, which is nice I guess but for someone making less than 50,000 a year the cost is 4 monthly payments of $125. This makes me think that this is another bs woo woo trend just to make money. If you really want to help people don’t put up these unrealistic financial obstacles.

    I wonder what per centage of TM students keep up meditating on their mantra a year later...2 years layer? There ate amazing testimonials from celebrities like Seinfeld and Ellen, but I also know and know of many people who didn't keep going with it -- the Beatles for instance. Mantra meditation is surely a valid practice, but no better than zazen, vipassana, mental noting and other practices that you don't need to pay $1000 to learn.

    • @immoveableone
      @immoveableone 4 года назад

      Yes..it's a priceless technique. I have practiced it regularly since 1972. If I knew in 1972 what this technique would do for me, there is no price I wouldn't pay. But the fee thay ask for supports responsible, trained teachers to teach the technique and be available for questions at any time. The fee also preserves the organization which keeps the knowledge of this technique pure and ensures it is available. Life just demands some support for structures to ensure things are done correctly.
