In the united states at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester MN they told me a few years ago they do not do whole breast ultrasounds. But every time they call you bsck its to do an ultrasound. I partipate in other screening like molecular breast imaging and asymmetry on that test led to MRI and finding incidental benign fibroadenoma. So not only did that test be inconclusive and require follow-up ultrasounds, it is confusing to go annually because they would change which provider i saw and their recommendations for the next imaging had to be asked for by myself. You can not make your appointment whie there you have to wait until 3 months out. I had contrast enhanced mammogram like recommended the year before. Now they want mammogram and molecular imaging but will refuse to do whole breast ultrasounds. You just have to wonder sometimes. Its all $$$

Question: Is breast density somewhat subjective? I ask because the report I received after my annual mammogram sometimes said dense and sometimes said not dense. Post early stage IDC in 2022, I’ve asked more questions about what I’ve recently had reported as heterogeneously dense. I’m also getting mammograms every year and an MRI at the 6 month mark. Thanks for covering this topic! I’m sure there are many of us who felt relieved at the all clear report after our annual mammogram without concern about what dense breast tissue could be hiding.

I would like to know if women in the uk with dense breasts are offered MRI scans annually if they have had Invasive Lobular BC?
