tbh that second race was a good run for both cars. both drivers really good.
Finally, some one with a eye for the obvious. Those short shifts and that car was always in the power band.
People can hate on american cars how much they want but a brutal beast which is the fastest 0-60 production car in the world and can produce that much power for under 100.000$ is not normal. That's why i love America (and i'm not even american)

buff samurai fred Actually, the Tesla S Ludicrous 0-60 is .1 seconds slower than the Demon. The Demon gets there in 2.3 while the Tesla gets there in 2.4 even though it's got AWD. The fastest Tesla S made a1/4 mile time of 10.8 seconds, whereas the Demon did it in 9.6 seconds. That's more than an entire second faster. Not to mention the Demon is just way more bad ass and in 40 or 50 years they'll be worth millions or close to it.
buff samurai fred Another thing is that GM had nothing to do with the Demon (I found it funny you called it a boat, even though it's smaller, lighter, faster, and shorter than the Tesla) it was Fiat-Chrysler that built it, more specifically it was SRT and Mopar performance that built it.
Kelly Askew i don't think they will be worth millions but they're definetely cooler and look 1000x times better than a tesla. And the sound you have while driving is incredible. A demon also has more character than these boring teslas.

That's great, except that's comparing apples to oranges. COPO is a full on drag non legal street car...in line with the Cobra Jet (no VIN #) who they (Chevy)had to play catchup with and still haven't. Cobra Jet smokes them all easily.

I would like to start by saying thank you for posting this up. I am a Chevy guy, but very much appreciate the work put into these cars. The haters are just that... hating for no reason. That time comes out to a low 10 at around 130. Very good for a car with a first time out and all stock. Even better that it was done on 91 octane and the street tire package. On race fuel and the big and little package it'll gain about 4 tenths easily. People will get them into the 9's stock for sure as they get used to them and the engines get broken in. If I were him I would remove the stock tires with the Demon logo and install a set of shelf replacement NT05R's so the original with the logo is saved. Outside of that, very cool and thank you. Bad ass car.
I took my Dodge Demon to the drag strip, didn't want to race it as it was still like new.. That was 1972 and it had a 225 Slant Six, cost me about 44 hundred bucks and I was soooooo proud of it because it was my 1st car.. Man they come a loooooong way since 72'..

He didnt use the transbrake, thats what this guy means. And he can't as you're not able to engage drag mode until the car has a certain mileage: 500miles I believe.
Michel Hadid that's bs, didn't you see all of the demo runs that Dodge held? they were all running the trans brake. In this video you can clearly see the car come off the trans brake when he red lights. You probably can't run the race fuel until 500 miles but I doubt you can't use the trans brake.

You can't use the trans brake, line lock, or launch control until 500 miles, PERIOD! Of course at a Dodge event those cars have miles on them and the computers have been tweaked. They're press cars no shit. The production cars that customers get cannot use the drag features for the full 500 mile break in period.

Great video and thanks for sharing. I read comments about people talking trash. Would they do better? Does it even matter? You got to take your new Demon to the strip. Times will likely get better as you get more practice, become more comfortable, learn from your mistakes, and be able to use the launch control if you so desire.
Did you purchase any additional insurance to take it on the track and if so what cost increase did that add?
I only tried the Trans Brake twice. First Pass it limped on the top bulb. Not sure what happened. Either I did not hold the second paddle firmly enough or maybe I turned the steering wheel (that will cancel it). Second time I got greedy and went over 2350 RPM and that will cancel the system (it's like a temporary limp mode). Both of the good passes it ran 104, almost 105 on last one. Good post! IDK why people can't understand that it will be a learning curve with the owners of these cars. Everyone else is used to driving something slower that they had to make more HP and run the Demon times so now they've become John Force.....hilariious

Face it dodge got their times by running at a perfect strip, in perfect air, with a pro driver who knew the car like the back of their hand.
It’s gonna take a little time for everyone to get used to the car and put a few miles on them. We probably won’t see similar times to what dodge claims until spring when the weather is better.

Many "Asian" cars are built in America while "american" cars are built in mexico. But either way the imports are running higher volumetric efficiencies and the higher that is the lower the reliability. Take my last car for example. 2010 wrx. It comes with a 2.5 liter making 265hp. Just over 100% efficiency. Compare to say a camaro with an ls motor. It may make more power but it's making way less hp/liter. I made over 400hp in my subaru but it would take so much money to make it reliable. A modified American v8 make would sit close to a stock import as far as efficiency and reliability would be there when an import would constantly break.
No kidding! I’m seriously tired of seeing those comments every time I look at a muscle car video. I came to see a STOCK 2018 Dodge Demon that comes off the factory line with 840 horsepower and starting price is at $83,000. Not some hideous outdated high schoolers ride that starts at what maybe $16,000 to $20,000 (new) and requires a ton of mods in order to be relevant in the track and drag strip world. I’m interested in a drag strip car not some Dominos pizza delivery car.

The car didn't even have 500 miles on it so it couldn't be put into drag mode even if he tried to. The factory settings won't allow drag mode to be activated until there is 500 miles on the car.. I think the guy did pretty dam good for his first time out with the it.. Haters gonna hate...
