This guide shows the process used to burn the Erdtree without sacrificing Melina in Elden Ring.

Fighting the secret boss after the tree burning won’t stop her from hating you, but it does stop the ending

Yeah but you also need the needle from Malenias questline! Not saying it's impossible or too much but pretty sure in order to reverse the frenzied flame you have to use the needle and if memory serves correctly it's the needle you can use in Malenias Aeonia/Scarlet Rot Bloom to gain a Ancient stone (can't remember if it's somber or regular though!)
@@SSNebula after helping millicent in her quest, you get the golden needle and kill malenia, and in the bloom you give the needle and get back ancient dragon somber stone and Miquella 's needle. We use that needle in Placidusax Arena to surpress the frenzied flame.

This means, if we didn't level up at all, and we get this frenzied flame, there is no reason Melina will hate us right?
I think we need to try this scenario.
Can't get into inner capital without her sadly. Game says not enough great runes.

@@jibbily27 there’s a video showing that even if u have killed 4 shardbearer bosses and activated their runes, u still cannot proceed into the capital.

Did this during my first ever completion. Friends regarded me as a hero for saving Melina, and pulling off the golden order ending in one go. Meanwhile I'm scratching my head and thinking "melina dies?!!"
this is insane i had no idea u could do this i found the chaos flame after following grape lady to a spooky ground hole after the tree burned. got the lord of chaos ending still

Damn i went for the ultimate "im gonna save you melina, you dont have to die" mission, just to complete my task and cure myself from frenzied flame after hours to get NOTHING. No dialog, no cutscene, nothing. Disappointed on this one Fromsoft! Great game but this was a letdown.
Yeah there should be a different ending if you do this, but since there isn't I just go for the frenzy flame ending.

She's the one who wanted to burn the golden tree, and if she dies because of it, she'll just be happy, and you shouldn't usher in a time of madness when all life is burned to death

Or she dies anyway just like other NPCs, this is the fate of every NPC in the game it seems.

You might not be insane but you are a vessel of the 3 fingers regardless. So long as you exists, so exists the possibility that you will heed the call of the 3 fingers or at least lead to a world were it’s followers have dominion.

Does choosing not to enter the frenzy flame chamber lock you out of anything besides the cutscene where the fingers grab you? (And frenzy ending)
There's a talisman for incantations and an ending.
Apparently there is a way to purge out the frenzied flame and unlock the other endings. You do this by using Miquella's needle in the Faram Azula boss arena after doing Millicent's quest line.
I wonder, can you inherit the frenzied flame, burn the tree, _then_ get rid of the flame to unlock the other endings? In this case, Melina would be alive _and_ won't hate you because you are no longer a lord of chaos.
I think you can but Melina won't return to you and she/the game never acknowledges that you went through all that trouble to save her/shed the the Frenzied Flame.
Which is a real shame imo.
I hope they release some sort of DLC where we could get a way to save Melina without her hating us
I think she wants to be the kindling. She was talking about finding her purpose. If we use our tarnished as kindling, it takes away her purpose. And she doesn't like that.

What happens if you save Melina, but afterwards you cure the frenzied flame with Malenia's needle (thus getting another ending and not the frenzied flame one)?
You can become elden lord but there’s no special cutscenes where she returns. Honestly they should’ve made an ending for that but they didn’t.

1) Save Melina
2) Use needle and go for Perfect Order ending
3) Tell her that her new purpose is to stay by your side so you don't go crazy and pull out the needle
4) You have maiden and good ending, easy :D
Idk if anyone else has found this but I went to the crumbling datum azula through a portal at the four belfries and killed malekith and after I killed him there was a cut scene and the tree was burning I haven’t defeated the final boss yet but Gideon the all knowing betrayed me and I’m currently fighting him and I also went to check if Melina it’s still alive and she is at the forge of the giants still so she’s ALIVE idk if I’m the only one but it’s so interesting
Wait, so the portal from the four belfries can lead you into the city ? I always thought it was a useless portal
@@maxouking1999 yeah but there’s another step you most do which is teleporting to the perfumers Cave then quit the game and just get back on the game and you should appear in the city

are you able to burn the tree your self, cure your self, and then fufill the requirements for Renna ending and see if its different since both Renna and Melina are alive?
You can cure yourself but the endings stay the same
you can use miquella's needle in boss placidusax arena. This will cancel the three finger ending. But Melina will still leave you and it won't change the other endings at all.

Can you then use the Unalloyed Gold needle to remove the will of the Three Fingers and then swap to another ending thus preserving Melina and attaining a good ending. That would be a sacrifice worth making.
Edit: I see ppl have answered this yes you can. No Melina does not return for any further dialogue. You only see her again if uou fully commit to the frenzied flame. I think I still like this path narratively though. You were prompted with a way to save her and you took it even if she had to hate you for it for some time.

If you use miquellas needle after this. It would calm the frenzied flame, right? Changing the ending and Melina wouldn't have to kill you, right?

I feel like in this ending, you basically by the strength of your own will betrayed everyone in order to save them. They don't understand and hate you for it. But in the end you will save them all.
For what cost? Allowing chaos to run the world? The best ending is Ranni’s ending, when you free all the souls closed in the Golden Tree.
@@bartekpas545 chaos is the world. The greater will stole its power and made a world that wasn't meant to exist so it could rule over it. And rannis ending is ok. I like her. But the flame of chaos is the best ending because you're restoring the balance of the cosmos

There is a special ending if you burn the tree yourself and DONT cure yourself
Curing the flame will revert the special ending back to original one, or a different secret ending if you've met those reqs

If you take the frenzied flame you can't cure it with the needle until after you burn the tree. Reason being is the only location that will let u "use" the needle to cure the flames is in the zone it teleports you too after u burn the tree. You can't cure the flames before that

in order to cure you from the frenzy flame u need to go to farum azula and fight placidussax... and for that u need to first burn the tree, so there is no way to stop her from hating us

I messed this up for myself so badly. I thought i would become frenzied by the fire and would give me an option to kindle myself so when i saw her she start the cutscene i quit the game and got the frenzied flame the right way and came back and i still couldn't offer myself. So now i got the flame and ass at the same time

Me who did it because the cutscene is awesome and I want to do all the cool stuff, not have some ghost witch do it for me: "haha, yeah..."
We both think alike. Couldn't care less about Melina tbh... I just wanted the chaos and cool stuff. Ranni is pretty meh.

As far as I know as of right now the only way to access Farum Azula is to burn the tree at the Giant's Forge. You can use Miquella's Needle to cure the Frenzied Flame, but you need to use it at the center of Farum Azula.
Your idea is great, and it got me thinking: Is there a way to get to Farum Azula without using the Giant's Forge? This is my current strategy and I am still theory crafting.
Is there a way to burn the roots of the Erdtree from underground? Can I skip the Forge of Giants?

So the logic behind is to absorb the Frenzied Flame, then burn the Erdtree to save Melina from a cruel fate which she hates for it as a consequence of going against her wishes. Miquella's needle wont revert her hostile (angry) state, then will the absolution at the Church of Vows do the trick?

This is the bad ending right?
You can cheat the three fingers, and Shabiri, and their stupid God by taking the Frenzied flame and then fighting malenia. There will be an item called 'Miquella's Needle' left behind by her scarlet aeonia flower. Take it to Farum Azula, to a hidden location, where there is a fragmented arena. Once you arrive, you will have the prompt to lay down. Do so, and time will reverse, leaving you in Dragon Lord Placidusax's arena. Use Miquella's needle here, and you will have effectively neutralized the three fingers and it's stupid flame of frenzy inside of you. Congratulations, you cheated a disgusting outer God! Now to deal with the others!

There is a way to do the absolute frenzy flame ending. You have to let melina burn and after the erdtree gets on fire, you have to accept the frenzy flame by 3 fingers

I just watched a video where a speedrunner skips into Farum Azula and when he returned to Lyndell the tree was already burning and the city was in ashes.
So it seems you MUST burn the tree, but the big question I have is if there is a 3rd way to burn the tree that doesn't require the Giant's Forge? I spent all day yesterday searching the Deeproot Depths and couldn't find anything down there...
I found out how to do this in NG+ by acquiring the Frenzied Flame and then going straight to the Giant's Forge. I planned my NG+ around it.

Technically you could use miquela’s needle and then still be the good guy afterwords, you save Melina and choose a good ending, she might be salty af cause it was her purpose to sacrifice herself but you chose this

If i burn the erdtree by enheriting the frenzied flame but than before ending the game i use miquellas needle to get rid of the frenzied flame and than i kill the elden beast, what will happen. I mean we saved melina but didnt decide to do the frenzied flame ending.

No idea where to go now pretty sure I have killed every boss in the game and touched the 3 fingers not knowing what I was doing. Not seeing the go to new game option at the Grace points.

You have to finish farum azula site, then it will teleport you back to leyndell

Sadly, you can't cure yourself with the needle until you make it to Farum Azula. Without glitches, this means you already burned the tree. :(

I legitimately spent 15m reading to find a way to save Melina and burn the tree but not to make her hate me but it seem even with the needle . she just peace out .
I spent 10+ hours theory-crafting ingame trying to find a way to make her stop hating me. Even after exhausting all my ideas nothing worked out :(

Sadly, no. The only way to skip the Godskin Duo is by glitch-skipping them :(
Just use the moonveil katana level 9 and mimic tear level 9+ and godskin duo will be alot Easier. I honestly found them the most challenging in the game tbh

i accidentally interacted here and inherited the frenzy flame unknowingly so i turned it off and my character isn’t burned, then i had the option to ‘listen to the flame’ and like the default cutscene i wasn’t teleported to the ashen capital because i interacted, the tree’s aflame but didn’t fall in the pit, so how can i undo the frenzy?
u need to do millicents questline.. and get the melinas needle, u need that to remove the curse of frenzied flame

You can't do that without performing some glitches. The cure requires you to have reached Farum Azula. But you can't get there until you burn the tree.
@@VideoGameBot looking at the questline, where does it require you to have reached farum azula? you only have to make it to the haligtree and defeat malenia, which you can do before the fire giant

Meh. Her and Ranni are really the only people who genuinely seem to care for my character. If she ends up hating me, I don't really give a shit. If there's a way to stop her from dying without burning the world down in frenzied flame, then I'm going to do it. I'm the chosen tarnished. My will is law.

Hey I figured it out, you have to beat that Morgot look alike boss you find in the sewers after taking the lift down and then hit his alter and reveal the secret passage

So I accepted the frenzied flame AFTER Melina sacrificed herself and I think that’s probably the best ending, chaos without Melina’s meddling

Yeah you can. But you gotta cure yourself with the needle first. Otherwise you are locked into the Lord of the Frenzied Flame ending.

This can be done on the first playthrough, but you gotta do it before having Melina ignite the Giant's Forge.
If Melina already ignited the forge, then you gotta wait til NG+
Pursuing this ending as retribution for the merchants
Be hated and maidenless but save Melania or your maiden sacrifices herself... That's one heck of a crossroad...

You gotta take off all your armor pieces to enter the Frenzied Flame door

Yeah, there is! you Need to get Miquella's Needle to remove the flame! Sadly, I don't have a guide uploaded to do this. It's a fairly long questline.
Get Miquella's needle by finishing Millicent's questline
the burn on the skin and the glowing eyes are able to be toggled, by using the dresser in the room fia is in, in the round table hold.
Does anyone know what happens if you burn the tree yourself but then use miquellas needle to cure yourself of the frenzied flame?
You will get a different ending instead of the Lord of Frenzied Flame ending

I wish you could tell Melina that you can cure the frenzied with Miquellas needle if you have it at that point so she won’t abandons you
