    Really enjoyed watching this video and well done for making it. This is a serious walk especially in winter conditions! I did it on 26.3.2022, a glorious sunny day and could see the whole route ahead. Some tricky icy areas though to scramble over.
    I travelled out on the Glasgow-Oban 975 bus and got off at the Power Station at 1100. Long haul up to Ben Cruachan, stuck to the ridge to Stob Daimh then followed the faint path down by the gorge and was back at the start in 6.5 hours, with over an hour to wait for the return bus. Great day out and achievable by public transport.

      Wow Frank, that’s quite the epic day out! Well done 👏 You’re certainly right about it being a serious walk in winter conditions - that ridge was treacherous the previous time I was there. Definitely a day for turning back that time. As the saying goes, the mountain will always be there, and sure enough it still was 😃

    They’re filming Andor at the dam right now! We climbed it about two weeks ago and spoke to a local about it after our descent. Great video!

      Thanks Rebecca. I am thoroughly looking forward to seeing it on TV. As a Star Wars fan I was geeking out about it when we saw them building the set that day. I’ve been looking on IG to see other’s photos of it too.

    Ridge walk looks fantastic. Better than Tarmachan? Wow.
    Think I might take the bypass!!!

      It’s in a different league to Tarmachan. Something you have to see to fully grasp the scale, but for me it was spectacular.

    Climbing these 2 tmrw your film is super helpful. Good to see the steep / slabby descent off Cruachan to ridge + bypass path.

      Thanks Andrew. It’s certainly not too difficult coming off the summit with the large slab being the only issue. Hope the weather is good for you!

    Nice one lads! Great atmospheric views. We did these two last year with the tops and the Corbett included and were shattered by the end! (We also didn't take the right hand side descent of the burn at the end which added at least an extra half hour!)

    • @HighlandHikers
      @HighlandHikers  3 года назад +1

      Thanks Ian. I can imagine you’d be shattered after that! Sounds like a long day with a fair bit of extra ascent thrown into the mix.

    Great video!
    I did this in Sept 21 with a a group of young fast walkers and I really felt the pace and the distance but it is a fantastic walk,
    I felt a great sense of achievement at the end as it was a walk I had been wanting to do for a long time.

      Thanks Paul. It’s pretty amazing to think that there’s a power station under there. Think it’s also the inspiration for a Christopher Brookmyre book.

    Just came across your channel while doing some research around this ridge walk, and I loved it. Great video!
    I am planning my itinerary for my first trip to Scotland in August/September, and this ridge walk is definitely shortlisted.
    How much did it take you to do the whole loop?

    • @HighlandHikers
      @HighlandHikers  3 года назад +1

      Thank you Luca, it’s a fantastic walk, one which I’m sure you’ll enjoy! The walk took us slightly over 8 hours, however if you’re not planning on flying a drone and stopping for filming you can definitely do it quicker than us!
